Maybe they will feel pressured to donate some of it due to the fact it came about because of the WTS, but think most witnesses are like many other people, and are not about to share a windfall. I really feel the vast majority of witnesses are not quick to give the Watchtower money more than they have too.

How would your respond?
by Billzfan23 ini received the following from an elder in a nearby congregation that i was just disfellowshipped from:.

It is difficult to help decide what to do or say, when we don't know this guy and what his motives are. If he was a friend in the past, he may actually care.
I would say proceed with caution, but talking might open doors that might not exist now.

UN-BE-FLIPPING-LIEVABLE chance JW meeting moments ago...
by Confession inthis is trippy.... the set-up: every weekend, 45 weekends per year, a company flies me to a different city in the u.s., and has me lead group presentations to families of college-bound high school students.
we then offer to sell them our college preparation program.. a few weekends ago we were in fresno, california.
he asked which organization it was.

Very interesting indeed. At least he was capable of having a decent conversation with you. Maybe him calling you was the best thing that has ever happened to him, only for him to discover some time down the road.

John Denver v Jay Leno
by pobthespazz ini 've heard snippets of this absurd urban myth about jay leno asking j denver to leave his show because he hated jw's.
but why on earth on a prime time slot would j leno start asking j denver about jw's?
and i don't think j leno is a particularly spiritual guy or wt supporter is he?

Rumours spread so easily within the JW organization, where little else is left to do but talk about how they are getting persecuted, real or not.
The main thing to remember is this:
Anyone play the game where you line people up, and whisper into their ear something, and by the time it gets to the end, the real comment his completely different than it started?
Imagine millions of witnesses, starting with one, and spreading. How is one supposed to believe much of anything.
I believe when I see it first hand.

Are JW kids allowed to be kids?
by tall penguin ini had a memory come up today.
i recall there was a time when kids were allowed to read the subheadings at the watchtower study.
they cut that out because they wanted kids to participate in the same way as the adults, by answering the questions for the paragraphs.

The JW's are so hung up about being different, and this is another perfect example. Really now, how unloving it is to try to make young ones sit still through crap we barely could make it through.
We go to a non-denominational church now sometimes, and they have fantastic programs for the kids, including pre kindergarten classrooms that are separated by every 6 months, and after that, for each individual age group.
Adults only in the main room, but even they have about 6 different venues to choose from, according to personal taste.

Floyd Kite's "Enduring the Tests Within God's Organization" (1980)
by Leolaia inthats a big test.
can you think of the test that that would put on gods people?

If this is the same "Brother Kite" that I am thinking of, which I would imagine it is, that spoke at the DC's, I remember many people enjoying him as a speaker, as he was very dynamic. Doesn't mean that his message still wasn't crap, but even as a young boy it was more tolerable to listen to him than so many others.

It is sad that people whether old friends or family must stick a name to our status.
We are still human beings with feelings. We are still who we are inside, we simply don't view our previous religion in the same light. So sad that witnesses have to make such a big deal about it all.
By the way confession, I wish you and your daughter the best!

I appreciate any kind of music that either showcases true talent, or sometimes I just want to be entertained.
All in all, I loved the music of the 80's, including the hair bands.
