I am sure that this has been dicussed before, but I am somewhat new to the site. I know that the Society keeps copies of books written by former witnesses, but do they moniter sites such as this one? If so, how closely?

Out of the percentage posted earlier, do you think that mos df'ings are from the United States, or is it pretty well averaged out over the world?

Did we have the right?
by kenpodragon inthe other day i was with a friend going to get some ice cream.
i was in the mood for the basics, so when i was asked what ice cream flavor i liked, i answered "vanilla.
" to be honest i have always liked vanilla, so i figured that sounded good.

Think about it. How many people did we actually convert going door to door, especially compared with how many did we iritate? Those should be the ones that we should feel bad for. The others, if they became witnesses, maybe it is filling a void in their life. At least they are adults, and can make decisions for themselves. The ones I really worry about are those who were brought up as witnesses from childhood. They never had a chance.

who you could have become
by Omega Man infor those of us raised as jw's .
for most of us we were never allowed to explore our full potential growing up.
never knowing if we could have been a great football player playing for the nfl or perhaps an actor or musician or even a doctor or lawyer.

Just remember, we can always change the future. Our background should not matter, nor should age, or anything. If we want to change things in our life, it is up to us to do so. And do so we should! And let everyone out there know that we were successful, in spite of the Society. We must not let ourselves be victims any longer!

Why do elders not disfellowship inactive people?
by kenpodragon inwhen i left the religion, i walked away and did not get df'ed or da myself.
in doing so, my wife left the religion at the same time.
in our life we have been very nonwitness in our life.

Kenpodragon,
Just a side note, I think it is great that you got involved with martial arts. I have too. It was amazing to look back at articles the society wrote on the subject, and how uninformed they actually were regarding what actually takes place when learning the art. They think it all has to do with violence, but I found out much more, as it sounds like you did too. Good for you!

"Awakening of a Jehovah's Witness " by Diane Wilson was an excellent read. Not like the doctrinal books which can be difficult to understand, this one talks about her road in, during, and out. Talks about how the Society hurts people. This one helped me more than any doctrinal book. Everyone it seems has different viewpoints of the bible, and what to and what not to believe. This showed me how terrible the Society and its rules actually are, and how they affect the everyday witness.

Get Out of My House!!!!
by crownboy inlast night at meeting was the 2nd part to that rather odious km article on shunning disfellowshipped family members.
i guess the society can't take any chances in light of dateline, etc.
well, one of the paragraphs dealt with how you'd handle a disfellowshipped child who lives outside the home.

This new stuff on df'ing hits a nerve allright. I am not df'd, just have faded away, but my ex would like to try to nail me on something, and then tell our child that he cannot talk to me. She is already trying to find ways. Obviously I do not have custody. Df'ing does nothing to gain it's ultimate goal. It destroys families, and much more. It could be devestating for someone who has invested time and life to this.

I overheard some JW's in Vegas
by Mulan ini returned last sunday from las vegas, where i had been attending a convention for one of my suppliers.
it was a network marketing convention, so the people there were from all over the world.
one day i was walking back (about a mile) from the convention area at the hotel, to the elevators, when i heard a group say "well, we are all witnesses.

Rebi does tend to stay out of the limelight, she really doesn't have much in the way of a career like the others, though she did come out with a couple of records. She seems to be the one with her act together more than the others. LaToya, is completely bizarre. The mom still tries to cling onto her role as the witness mom. I think the indoctination into the witnesses was primarily the younger children, though Rebi of course hung onto it. The older brothers never were involved other than going to meetings once in a great while. Michael of course, being so young and attached to his mother, was more active.
