To encourage kids to get baptized if they are under 18 just is not right. My child, who lives with my ex, just got baptized because his friends did, and the notion that everyone will be happy with his decision. He absolutely has no clue whatsoever what he has gotten himself into. Now he is in danger of if he disagrees, he can get df'd.
Life is hard enough for teenagers. Imagine df'ing one?
quite a while ago i made a promise to myself not to allow the organization known as jehovah's witnesses to have an effect on my life any longer.
i had washed my hands of them and their disgusting propaganda machine disguised as a religion.
an old addage says the best revenge is to live life, and to live it well.
I think that situation worked out perfect. It must be hard for a witness to hear the real "truth" and not at least be a little bit affected by it.
Doubt must creep in at some point.
my wife has this one friend, who we see a lot.
she has been dating this guy for about six months and they are real serious, yet she will not say she loves him.
i have listened to her many times explain how she can not say "i love you" easy.
I believe our instincts tell us to like or dislike right away. We usually know when "something just isn't right."
True love is a deep and complex feeling, and occurs over time. I think deep down we want to be around those who think alike, have a good feeling. When someone crosses our feelings, we by instinct automatically dislike them. It is not comfortable for us, they don't agree, etc. So hate becomes a word that perhaps is overused, simply a feeling that is not agreeable with our inner self.
I think a person can like someone just as quickly as "hating" them. Just simply human nature. Unless of course one has a piss poor attitude towards everything and just is miserable to be around, then they may be more prone to hating.
the wts always taught making money was bad, and those who already had it, should not show it off for fear of offending those who didn't have any.. there were so many witnesses that barely made ends meet, again, taught that making money was bad, getting an education was bad, therefore making it hard even with full time work to make a decent wage, enough to support a family.. since leaving, have you allowed yourself the freedom to explore what is out there, with education, with making money, allowing yourself to prosper in all areas of your life?.

For me, I cannot believe that a God of "Love" and us being made in "His image" would think any different than us. He has feelings, and they probably are a lot more intense.
This shunning practice, among others, is not Godly. Can anyone picture Jesus being so hateful. In fact he is the one who says to love your enemies. If someone is going astray, then Jesus would have been first in line to love on the person, to show them the right way.

who looks after the welfare of ageing witness parents who have disfellowshipped children?
are these df'd children (actually, some of these df'd children are in their 60's) meant to ignore being ignored and then care physically for their non speaking parents?
also, can df'ing your own children lead to witness parents suffering illness or even death as a result?.
Another sad example of how twisted and self centered the WTS is. They keep this garbage up, they will never see the rank and file numbers that they would like.

i just finished reading the transcript of the march, i am too overwhelmed to comment about it with a clear head.
i know that there are accusations against people.
so, where are the police?
There is no statute of limitations, however, the victim must report it, and be willing to testify. There must be enough evidence to prosecute. With so much time that has passed, no other witnesses to the crime, and now there certainly is no physical evidence, it is difficult to make a case that will stick. It would be a case of he said - they said, and that probably would not be enough to convict.
What needs to be done is report the crime as soon as it happens to the authorities. Too bad all these victims felt that they had no where to turn at the time.
The WTS needs to be on the victims side, and get the hell out of the way when it comes down to talking to authorities who will really help.
