It is too bad that these people like many others feel as though they must put others down to appear better themselves. I agree that people such as you described are in fact very insecure with themselves, though they will never admit it.

Self-righteousness = Mental illness
by whyhideit ini was living in a congregation in northern california when i was in my early twenties.
in doing so i got to know this one family pretty good.
they were the typical self-righteous witness, with a elder father and a pioneer son and daughter.

Lost My Job
by Yizuman innew manager named rod came in at wal-mart this week monday.
today he got a call from marsh's office building asking for business references and apparently that pissed him off.
i had dropped off a resume at the marsh office building around 1 1/2 weeks ago or so... he called me into his office via one of the customer service manager (csm) who asked me to follow her.

I remember the first job I got right out of high school. The one I applied for I did not get, but the fact I was so persistant, the next time a job was available there, they called me. It was a month later, but the manager was so impressed at my persistance, that he called me. He said he had a stack of 200 resumes in front of him, but if I wanted the job it was mine.
Now, I am an employer. I look for attitude, eagerness, honesty, and of course persistance is good too.

Hi Stefani,
I have certainly seen ghosts in my home growing up. My whole family had seen it. Never bothered us, and I don't believe it was a demon. I know the WTS would automatically say it was, but it was not evil, and did nothing to harm us.
So do I think that demons as the WTS describe exist? Don't know. Maybe, but not to the same extent that they teach, and I am not really sure that they are here to torment us like the WTS would like us to believe.
But ghosts, I know. I saw, on many occasions. No one can tell me any different. I understand if someone is skeptical, as sometimes am. But I did see, and hear, many times.

The WTS is about control, and they would lose too much of it if they offered it online. Why someone doesn't just do it who already gets the magazines I don't know. It could be a hoot though.

50 Ways to Leave your Lover
by JH inhave you noticed how many jehovah witnesses are in their second and third marriage?
why is it that a religion that says it's morally pure, has so many people in their second and third marriage?
of course they say that there are no divorces in the jehovah witnesses, but that doesn't seem true.

From what I have observed, I think there are many more divorces happening now than 20 years ago. When I grew up in the WTS, I only heard of one divorce ever, during my entire childhood. I could probably list 30 now. And that is only what I have managed to hear about since leaving. It could be twice that or more by now.

Respectful Posters
by onacruse ini've had the chance this last couple of weeks to participate in a few threads about topics that evoked strong convictions.. i'd just like to say, it's a distinct pleasure to be able to debate these subjects openly.
with one or two exceptions, it was without abusive or derogatory responses.
the exact opposite of what i got, or would ever expect to get, in the wts.. i'm not trying to start a "popularity" thread here, just to say that this forum is a big breath of fresh air.. craig

I don't know why some get all excited about stuff. We should relax and have fun.
For me, it is interesting to hear others viewpoints. Some I agree with, others I don't. However, I can learn from others thoughts, and I like that.

For those who don't believe in God
by freedom96 inwhen we were witnesses, we certainly believed in god.
some of us were born into it, and others have perhaps come from other religions, while still others may never had any religious faith at all.
some here on the board now claim that there is no god at all.

Some here on the board now claim that there is no God at all. What I would like to know is what happened from believing to not believing?
There is a big difference in realizing that the WTS is not the true religion and then going to the extent of claiming that God is not real. Many of us here have obviously realized that the WTS is full of crap, but that doesn't mean that there is not a God. We still believe in Him, just not the Watchtower.
I can understand some people who never have believed in God, therefore are athiests. But to go from very much believing to not, I don't understand.
As we are all certainly entitled to our opinions, this is not meant to slam or attack those who don't believe, just curious what happened for you not to believe at all anymore?

Are you still looking for a meaning to life?
by sleepy in.
i havent bothered thinking much about the deeper issues of life recently but why not start again i thought to my self, and i ask the questions what are we and how did we get here?and i ask these in the biggest sense ie, not how did we get here on earth but how and why did the whole show sart in the first place.. its easy to say the universe just happened , we just evolved and our conscious existance is just a freak of nature.but these answers sweep over the main issues which are far deeper.. i learnt to reject ghosts, gods, angels and supernatural phenomena , but my own existance is more perversely strange to a logical mind than any of these, and yet i do exist.. what the hell is it all about i wonder?

Just because the WTS is a lie, doesn't mean God is a lie, and that you shouldn't have faith in him.

How would you react if......
by Pleasuredome inthe wts turned out to be right and in the next couple of years the great tribulation broke out?
would you have a change of heart and think "yeah maybe the were right all along!"?
would you even consider joining them again?

I agree with aojumper that armaggedon is taught by many religions, though I have never heard it to the extreme that the witnesses do.
That being said, though, as mentioned above, there is nothing we can do about it. We have no idea if it will even be in our lifetime. Thousands of years have gone by with nothing happening. It could be tomorrow, it could be another couple thousand years.
Either way, if we sit back and worry that it is going to happen any moment, we will be very miserable. We need to live productive active lives, and enjoy our time here. What happens later will happen, and we deal with it when it does.
