I respect your choice of name and the reason behind it, and I look forward to more posts from you. If I may suggest something however, is to remember that Jesus didn't so much "steal" your youth; it was the Watchtower Society and the idiots that run it. Big difference.

Are you marked for life?
by JH in.
for those who were witnesses, and passed many years there, do you feel as if you are scarred for life by this experience?.
.

Growing up as a witness, I certainly have experienced and seen things I wish I hadn't. Will I let this get to me and hinder me in my life? Absolutely not. I have the power to make my life what it is now, and what it will be, and to allow the WTS to control the rest of my life would be a waste.

Do we come here to "convince" ourselves?
by bittersweet in.
ok...so the other day my husband(he is still an active witness) starts questioning me about why i come to x-jw sites.. he said the reason people come to these types of sites,is to convince themselves that they made the right decision to leave the"truth".i told him i come here to get support from others who feel they were tricked into believing something that wasn't true.he knows i feel my life has been taken away from me because i wasted so many years following their doctrines.i told him it helps me to know i am not alone in my feelings.he is still convinced that people are afraid they are wrong, and just come here to keep finding reasons to stay away from the "truth".he doesn't understand that we know what the real truth is.. i was just curious what everyone else thought about this.do you feel we are "convincing" ourselves that we made the right decision to leave?

The longer I am out of the WTS, the more I forget. I come here, and remember some of the crap, and though I don't need conformation that leaving was the right thing to do, it is sometimes humerous to remember all that happened. The more I can laugh about it, the more I can let it go.

How many people know.....

of course, we have all talked about the mean ones, and even some nice sincere witnesses too.
i am careful not to say all witnesses are good or all are bad.

How many of you out there know a witness who is just plain evil?
Of course, we have all talked about the mean ones, and even some nice sincere witnesses too. I am careful not to say ALL witnesses are good or ALL are bad. But there are averages, and then there are the extremes.
My ex, is an extreme. Without exaggeration, she is evil. All who have met her, would agree, hands down. I have never met a more vindictive, hateful, spiteful, liar, etc, in my life. Wordly or not. Been divorced for many years, and still causes many problems. Yet, she claims to be the most wonderful witness. So spiritual, etc. Gag me! Just recently, she told me how horrible I am because I am inactive. Never been df'd or da'd, but my actions are just horrific being that I am not active. Now, I am a good guy, dont't cause problems, have a wonderful family, great friends, and work hard. But supposedly I am the evil one because I don't go to meetings. What a stinkin hypocrite. She has been spawned from Satan directly, just trust me.
So, as my original question asked, how many of you know just plain evil people that claim to be so Christian? What did they do? How is it that they exist in the Watchtower? From what I have heard in my ex's case, is that many know she is wacko, but no one does anything about it. But the fact she goes to some meetings, she is the one they believe.

Moral dilemma.
by expatbrit inimagine you are the head of the security services in your city.
somewhere in your city is a bomb.
it is timed to explode sometime in the next 24 hours, very probably in a crowded area.

Paying for the Kingdom Hall
by JH inin the late 80's, our hall was built and it cost about 150,000$ canadian.
every month, we had to give a certain amount to pay for the hall.
after 3 or 4 years, we still owed 135,000 for the hall.

I thought it was just like any other loan from anywhere else. I think it is terrible that the WTS charged interest, made the congregation pay for it, and then the WTS still owned the property outright. Just not right. I think the WTS should have paid for it to begin with, as they have more than enough to pay for it, instead of all the poor witnesses who could not afford it. Worse case, they should not have charged interest.

Worst Dresses Stars

there is always some celebrity out to prove that no amount of money, hired image consultants, and famous designers dying to give you free stuff, can buy you good tastes.

This actress really thinks her sh** don't stink. What she was thinking when she put that dress on blows my mind.
My wife and I just looked at each other and were thinking...... how disgusting!

Did they lie about you when you left?
by Brummie ini was reading something bout bashing the org unfairly...i disagree with doing it to a degree but did you get an unfair bashing by jws after you left?
i was accused of marrying a sister (who i helped to leave at the same time as me), she was twice my senoir and had sons the same age as me...pure lies and gossip.
and i was accused of smoking some drug, and thats why i disassed.

I faded away, so I imagine most people never cared, and never said anything. That I am pretty certain of. My ex, on the other hand has lied like you could never believe. However the hall she goes to has never met me, so they don't have a clue. Still sucks to think that others are having these horrible impressions of me, when they don't really know the whole story.

FINALLY stood up to my father re: religion!
by back2dafront inas you all may remember, i left the organization 4 years ago - never df'd, never dissassociated, just left.
my parents initially tried everything they could to get me to come back but to no avail.
they've never really shunned me because we still talk on the phone, but seeing that we live on the opposite coasts, i've only seen them once in 4 years.

I think you gave your father some things to think about. Sounds like you handled yourself very well.

He used to be on the radio in San Diego, talking about the witnesses. Elderly, sincere.
I always enjoyed his show. It eventually went off the air.
