  Have You Been Divorced?

  divorce is much more common in the jehovah's witness community than they would like to admit.

  probably more so than the population in general.. if you have been divorced do you think that the watchtower society contributed to the divorce, or caused it, or is it just possible you married some jerk or abuser and divorce would have occured no matter what religion you were, or even if you had no religion?.

  possibly you got married way too young as the end was coming and there is no marriage in the resurrection if you died.

  I married young, because it was the thing to do as a witness, and you were young, and dating. Dating for the hell of it was not allowed.

  She ended up being the most evil person I have ever met. As far as the WTS involvement, she tried to use the fact that "I was not taking the spritual lead" as an excuse, but an excuse was all that it really was. She hated the organization, but if she could use its rules to her advantage, she would.

  She still claims to be the perfect little witness. Thank God I found a great person to be married to afterwards.

  Growing up as a witness in the 70's and 80's, I only knew one couple that divorced. Now, when I talk to a few people I knew back then, there are lots of them getting divorced.

  Thank God that there are many intelligent posters here, who have facts to back up what they say about the WTS. So, all those wanting real, hard core evidence/ information, feel free to look up the thousands of postings here regarding the WTS, and learn!

  I am sooo far behind...

  when i was in elementary school, i was considered by my teachers and my beaming proud parents to be somewhat of a prodigy.

  i was a straight a student, and i really didn't have to work to get those grades.

  but middle school and high school brought the paranoid-schizo-borderline-narcissistic personality that plagues me to this day (though recognition of the problem is the first step towards recovery lol), and my grades fell like a brick.

  I think Jackson is very talented, however that does not mean he is not weird. There are lot of talented famous people that are great in their work, but socially, they are enept.

  The fact is, that he may suffer from a mental illness of sorts, and that can be contributed to his not really having a childhood, an abusive father, among other things.

  On the flip side, he does in fact do much for charity work. Much more than most people will ever know. It could very well be that he means well, and has never done anything wrong to kids. There is much evidence that the whole molestation case was blackmail for a movie that the kids father wanted to do.

  For me personally, I would not stop at prosecuting someone for molesting my child for a sum of money.

  The other fact to consider is this: Michael has never been charged with a crime. There was a huge investigation, and nothing happened from it. When there is evidence of a crime, the DA takes over, and they charge the person. Doesn't matter if the victim wants to prosecute. In California for example, if a husband batters his wife, and there is evidence, no matter how much the wife says she doesn't want to press charges, the police have no choice but to charge the guy.

  It is too bad that Jackson is wierd, but we are not him, we don't know what is going on in his mind, and mental illness cannot always be understood. I have enjoyed his music, and I pray that he never has harmed a child.

  i talked to my brother the other day.

  we got into a discussion about his running away at age 12. i didn't see him for 10 years, until his high school graduation in chicago.

  i missed a big part of his life.

  In the witness circle, they love to think of themselves as the most perfect, caring, spiritually clean organization out there. Any many people do in fact regard witnesses as wholesome, good people. But, as we know, they have their flaws. I believe that for the most part they are a good honest people, but as in all situations that have so many people, there are going to be the rotten apples. They certainly are not perfect.

  did you find that there were some dubs that seemed to be always after something for nothing...........always on the take?!

  it would make you laugh sometimes and you might think it was just a funny way some had.

  other times it was quite annoying!.

  I think you will find those type of people in all areas of life, regardless of religion. Maybe these people are lazy by nature. Maybe they saw something with the WTS that appealed to them. How sad.

  Remembering an Old Friend

  as most all of you know, i am a vietnam veteran, serving with c troop 7/17th air cavalry from july of 1969 to january 1, 1971. i have heard before that the bond formed by combat veterans is forever.

  i can now say that is a true statement.

  when first assigned to c troop, i met a man by the name of ron strickland and we hit it off as buddies, becoming best friends, in my estimation.

  Harry Potter ``imbued with Christian morals''?

  many jehovah's witnesses confused about whether the watchtower society is really the administrative arm of the "faithful and discreet slave class" might breath easier to know that another organization claiming to be god's spokesperson declared at a press conference that they "don't see any problems in the harry potter series.

  " associated press (ap) reports the vatican is giving the harry potter series two thumbs up and announced at a vatican press conference "the good vs. evil plot lines of the best-selling books are imbued with christian morals.

  " the question in many jw parents minds is whether the governing body's silence on the popularity among children of harry potter indicates they agree with the vatican on its moral assessment of this children's fable?

  While I am not convinced that the Harry Potter series is imbued with Christian morals, I do not believe that the series is evil and should be avoided.
