Local JWs beginning Relief Efforts

i can't believe it.

the congregations in the city are organizing a relief effort.

they're asking for toiletries, non-perishable food items, and bottled water.

However, is this a call for help for only witnesses? I would be shocked if it were designed specifically for "worldy" people.

i'm sitting here in awe, just having read that evacuation helicopters are reporting being shot at in louisiana.

shot at.. looters are seeing an opportunity to take goods that will probably be destroyed or paid for by insurance anyway.

it's dirty and nasty and wrong, but i can live with it.

It doesn't matter what political person is voted into office. They will all do things that are questionable, they will all distort the truth, they will all do and say stupid things.

While many hate Bush, and those who did vote for him may not care for all he does or doesn't do, it doesn't automatically mean that the other guy, whoever that is, would have done a better job. They all promise the world, but when it comes down to it, none of them will satisfy us completely.

There will always be things to complain about, no matter the political figure.

Is it crazy at the gas pumps in your State?

me and the kids went to rent movies and noticed that there were long lines of people waiting for gas.

we live in shreveport/bossier louisiana about five hours north of new orleans.

we do have tons of evacuees here and so i understand it is going to be busier here than usual.. people were breaking lines to get gas tonite, and you could feel the tension in the air.

These gas prices will affect people more than we think. It will touch many different industries negatively.

Does Disfellowshipping "Incite Hatred", Which Is Against The Law?

your opinion, please......the publications emphatically state that not only are we supposed to hate the wickedness of a sin---but actually hate the person!!!

does this not violate the law??

I absolutely believe that df'ing CAN incite hatred, though it doesn't always happen, and greatly depends on the personality of those involved.

got a phone call from my daughter who lives in florida a couple of hours ago.

her significant other who i chose to call my son-in-law (because he is the best thing to ever happen to her) got a phone call that his 6 year old daughter was killed in an auto accident near lake placid, florida and his 5 year old son is in very critical condition.

the ex wife is also critical.
