  JC = Intimidating Interogation?

  after listening to a few of the judicial comittees on this site (sickoflies being most recent), you get the impression that in practise it seems to be a clandestine inquistition more than anything else.. i am gobsmacked each time i hear the manner in which these hearings are conducted.

  oftentimes agressive & in many ways condecending towards the 'sinner'.

  i realise that there are some who may deliberately agrevate the elders and they are only human i suppose, but it all seems just weird.. i suppose i cant quite put my finger on it but after listening to a recording, it leaves you with a weird feeling towards the elders who are leading the comittee.

  cut your loses and hand in a brief letter of disassociation. Save yourself and others a lot of hassle.

  I agree...as many have said before...why give them the power to make decision as to whether you are repentant enough. It is very empowering for them to cast judgement. For those who have committed a serious sin...they like the joy of listening to the juicy details and then cast judgement. Yes in the past I felt like a little child before the principal. And then they send you out of room to make a decision. That is the longest wait....

  there is a local brother that was appointed to eldership in january.

  he was dating and was recently put on reproof...denounced his eldership and married this sister like within a month.

  we all know what happened...but i think it sucks that he covered his ass in such a way.

We all know what happened...but I think it sucks that he covered his ass in such a way. If it had been a regular j-dub we would've been booted out. I'm told he was real repentant. How do you judge a persons degree of repentance??? Of course as an elder he knows exactly what to say. It makes me sick that these individuals are in the position to sit and judge the little people when they're doing the same thing.

  feel kinda sick and shaky

  just found out my mom's cancer is worse than she thought...widespread--colon, lungs, bone...so she said i can come down and see her if i want to (7 hours away), and my help would be appreciated if i could manage it.

  of course i can manage it.

  she's my mom.. but i'm dfed, and she's a jw, living with her jw neice's family.

  when he learns the truth, he repents and turns around, not bringing that cruel sin into the congregation.

  There is no way that paedophilia can be treated by men with no medical, psychiatric or psychological training.

  I agree, as a victim of child abuse. The elders in my congregation had little interest in my situation. They needed another witness to prove that the act had even occurred . The offender needs help too. He was just excused for his actions. They think that a few scriptures telling you that you're wrong because either you didn't scream (a small child) or because no one else witnessed it, is the answer. They have no training for the aftermath of the situation either. Sexual abuse stays with you for life. I guess if there's no compassion for the victim then they can't offer any help.

  how do you feel, now, knowing that the ridiculers, objectionist or non-jw family and workmates were right.. i feel a tad embarrist, i spent a long time, 20 years, trying convince, or prove ppl that i had the "truth" .

  my only consolation was that i would be proved right and that they would end up looking foolish.

  pride is a terrible thing.

  Its funny that you posted this today...I was just talking to my mother last night about this very thing. I was thinking that I thought that I just had and knew the truth...suppose someone came up to me with the UN, pedophile issues, inaccurate dates....I wouldn't have had a leg to stand on because I did not know about most of those things other than my own experiences (victim of child abuse--no help from the elders). It would've been so embarrasing.

  I used to think: "These people (worldy) think that they have the truth....they're all going to die thinking they have the truth and I was the one without the truth. It's sad for all the JW's still thinking that way.

  If you ask the wrong question...you'll be disfellowshipped. They only help to escort you out of the organization. You went to him out of geniune concern and he went to everyone else with a warning. I'm sure once they tell their pioneer wives that'll be the topic of conversation.
