What a very very silly question for you to ask, little minimus!

Do You Tend To Be Condescending???
by minimus inat times, some of us tend to think that we are superior.
we may come across as thinking we're a little better than everyone else.
do you seem to have "an all that" attitude?

Happy birthday, Kelly! Looks like you had a great time. How you managed to avoid decapitating at least one of your birthday guests is beyond me -- you must have had some demon help or something!

Evidence for Evolution?
by LucidSky inall historical and archeological evidence aside, the biggest evidence that convinced me evolution is factual is speciation (also called "micro-evolution").
this is the transformation of one species into two such that the two can no longer interbreed.
there is no need for historical evidence to prove this -- cases of speciation have actually been observed.

rem, your personal comments in your posts carry weight only with those who are impressionable by dismissive statements and ad hominem argumenatation
I for one am more impressed with REM's consistent, in-depth, and very patient presentation of scientific theory and evidence than I am with his supposed "ad hominem" attacks. He hasn't insulted you nearly enough, bonehead.

JW Rationalization #1 - Field Service
by Amazing injw rationalization: ... is a hallmark of the religion!
the very theological basis of the religion is a fluid dynamic that can change with the wind to suit the convenience of the gb.
ultimately, the rank & file jw picks up on this and extends rationalization to its limits.

Start time as soon as you get in your car in the KH lot.
Wrong!
Start time when you get in your car to leave for the KH!

Is there a better way than disfellowshipping?

Is there a better way than disfellowshipping?
Yes, as a matter of fact, there is. It's called minding your own business. Don't like someone? Don't hang out with that person. But don't go institutionalizing your social preferences.
What does the Bible say on this matter? It says whatever the hell you want it to say, depending on which scriptures you're citing and how you're interpreting them. There's a scripturally viable answer to every position on every subject, another reason why it's a mostly useless book to live by.

JWs Are the Cleanest People on Earth
by comforter inone benefit that jws get from being jehovah's people is the knowledge of good hygiene.
before i came to be a witness, i did not think it was important to brush my teeth thoroughly or wash under my arms real good and use deodarant.
i also tended to be a pack rat with a messy car.

Comforter is being funny. The real joke is how so many people don't get it.

WOULD YOU BE AN ACTIVE WITNESS IF????
by minimus inwould you be an active witness or even an inactive one if you could change a few things?
for example: let's say the blood issue could be resolved, would you stay?
or if 1914 doctrine was dissolved or the disfellowshipping/ shunning view changed?

Conditions for my return:
1) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy replaces The Holy Scriptures as the religion's main text. The Bible may still be used, but only insofar as it supports Douglas Adams.
2) All meetings are, of course, declared optional, although contributions are used to purchase quality imported beer for those who do decide to attend. A special play area is designated for children, who use the Society's old publications for paper mache and other art projects.
3) Door-to-door is replaced with free time to do with as you wish.
4) Conventions are held once every 2 and 1/2 years, so the novelty doesn't wear out so quickly. They are held in fine hotels, seminar-style, so attendees can choose which (if any) sessions to attend. Anyone caught wearing an attendant's badge will be stripped, smeared head-to-toe with honey, and thrown into a vat of angry red ants.
5) Formerly disfellowshipped, disassociated, and inactive Witnesses are restored to "good standing" and then promoted to "Grand Pumba Witnesses" for a term equaling the duration of their exile from the Organization. During this time, they are waited on and pampered by their former congregations' bodies of elders, particularly those who served on any judicial committees related to their departure.
6) The Organization reimburses all Witnesses for expenses incurred while distributing literature, funds the education of the children of those who didn't go to college because it was forbidden at the time, and cancels all loans owed them by local congregations.
7) The sign atop Bethel headquarters is changed from "Read God's Word the Bible Daily" to either "Don't Panic" or "The Meaning of Life is 42".

Serena Thanks Jehovah!
by Englishman injust seen her do it, less than a minute ago.
serina beat her sister venus to win the wimbledon women's tennis championships a moment ago.
in front of the whole centre court, sue barker asked her for her comments over the microphone system.
-
dedalus
Well, I don't know if Serena is a nice young lady or a bum, and I don't mind that she's a Witness -- heck, more Witnesses should be doing cool things like Serena (winning championships, designing clothes, what-have-you).
But it is very stupid of anyone thank God for stuff like that. But then, most people who believe in God are very stupid about the way they regard him. God, to most believers, is a hiccup, a cough, a knee-jerk afterthought in the blurry haze of the moment.
Oh well.
