Thank you Upand Atom. I came to these conclusions after researching at great length with my psychology professor, and the she says the Watchtower uses an old formula of thought manipulation called implantation, similar to the techniques used on the POWs in Japan in WW2.
Think about it. As a JW, do you really have freedom of speech/thought? The say you do, but only within the sphere of influence of the watchtower. Any thoughts?

How awful, maybe if they were spending time with the kids, instead their heads were lost in clouds of fantasy of the watchtower. Some might say they are better off dead than growing up as one of them, but I'm not sure. I believe people are people, as a witness or not.

Do you hide you JW family's practice of shunning from non-JW family?
by kwintestal ini thought of this question as i've been talking to different family members about the situation with my parents and grandmother.
i wondered if they'd get upset by me telling other non-jw family members what was going on.
i recently told a family member in coventry who i'm sure will end up telling my grandmother's sisters.

This may come as little comfort to the ones who are shunned, but believe me, your better off without them. By their fruits you will know them. You would not eat fruit that expired in 1975 would you?

SHOULD I PIONEER OR COLLEGE?
by stillAwitness indo you think the wt has become more lenient or stricter over the year?.
i am 21 and i remember just 4 years ago going to college was looked at as something negative.
girls my age, we had plans to be ft pioneers and become secretaries.

College, like everything else in this world (except the watchtower) is what you make of it. If you want a degree, you must work to get it. The ability to make yourself better than you are is a foreign concept as a Jehovah's Witness

MY PLAN FOR LEAVING THE WT. IS IT 2 FAR-FETCHED?
by stillAwitness ini plan on exiting out quietly out of "the truth.
" i mean, i got school and becoming financially secure first before i just jump the gun.
is that smart?

You should try changing your name, identity, and you might want to leave the country. It seems like the only dignified way to leave the watchtower.
Lots of love,

To UpandAtom:
Yes, the WTS has it all backwards, but they know what they're doing. Think about every magazine you ever read, and every meeting you ever attended. Of course, they reference their bible many times, and give the appearance of divine wisdom, but you have illustrated a brainwashing tradition that reaches back almost 100 years.
Everytime the WTS is handing down new instructions, setting dates for armageddon, making excuses for no armageddon, or any thing else, they always compare their motives and solutions to the BIBLE or people who lived in biblical times. This delivers a VERY POWERFUL subliminal message, meaning that every direction from the "slave" is directly from God.
Now, by comparison, everytime they give advice/dictatorship on how to live, what to read, what to wear, what to think, and who to talk to, THE WTS ALWAYS compare the rank and file to either animals or inanimate objects. This subliminal message means that thay can't think for themselves, human nature is oversimplified to the level of a dog, and that the rank and file really are no more than cattle.
Don't believe me? Take a look at the back cover of the May 15th 2006 Watchtower, there's an article about how women are exquisite as a Tiffany lamp, and every bit as much a man's property.
This repetitive oversimplification takes its toll on the psyche, until eventually the dubs believe their problems really are no more complex than an ox. This mentality comes in handy later when shunning is involved. It's all part of the WTS brainwashing. Please write back and say what you think.

Society letter read to all congregations July 28,2006 !!
by headmath ini got news of this from the jw grape vine today that at the meeting on thursday(yesterday) there was a letter read to all the congregations from the society.
for the first time the society says in the letter to prepare for great tribulation and to have plenty of emergency supplies in case of a disaster.
this has shaken the up the jws it seems.

Does anybody find it weird that we find out about these things sooner than the majority of the rank and file?
Does that mean we have better resources or that they are just de-sensitized, like it's just another day in the "truth?" -

WTS Running Out of Money? Letter to all congregations...
by drew sagan ina few days ago my wife commented on a letter sent out to all congregations (in the u.s.a.?
) regarding donations.
se said it was long and boaring, but in the end there where a few points she remembered.

Why is it I never seem to post at the beginning? Ah well...
First of all, what is so wrong with passing the collection plate? Just because the WTS says it's wrong, are we going to believe them? Never in my entire life have I ever been tithed by my religion to give money from my paycheck, yet the idiots at the WTS still proclaim we practice what was abolished almost 100 years ago.
As for the collection plate, there are plenty of people who don't give money, we don't "guilt trip" the congregation into emptying their pockets. I cant speak for all our congregations everywhere, but at least we have a choice.

I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.
by jambon1 ini came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

I know it hurts when your family is trapped in a cult. No matter how much you try, they will never ever listen, and they put you through living hell, yet somehow, you know it's not their fault because they've been brainwashed. God knows I've tried for five long years with my mom. You can't imagine giving up because you think if the situation were reversed, you would want her to help you.
But did anyone ever consider this: maybe they wanted it that way? Think about it. All of our realitives have very similar characteristics that are impossible to penetrate. Humans, by our design, reject enslavement, or persecution or brainwashing. But here's something I've never thought of before: maybe we don't all think that way. It sounds elementary to say it out loud, as if it's too obvious. But when your OWN MOTHER actually becomes the very monster she warned you about your whole life, it makes you reconsider everything you previously thought was true. I cannot imagane anything more maddening.
The truth is, some people want to be enslaved, persecuted, or brainwashed. People like my mom can only feel comfortable when they're being dominated by someone else. They are only truly happy when they are destroying themselves and their family. And that is what it means to be a Jehovah'a Witness.
I want everyone to stop a minute and think. I know, I may sound arrogant, but just hear me out. Think about the loved ones we are trying so desperately to save. What else would they be doing if they were not JW's? Would you instead be fighting the moonies, or scientologists, or any other cult? I can see now that my mom would be a mental slave no matter where or who she was with in life. She chose this path, no one else. It is not our fault, we have done nothing wrong.
Perhaps if we can accept this, we can take our lives back. We can finally let them go.

How can the watchtower pass off the idea of DFing and shunning as a "loving provision?" Of course that is a rhetorical question. To an educatated person, it is thinly disguised scare tactics, like when a child abuser threatens to kill his victim or the family if they tell anyone.
