I think i can speak from experience. No JW knows what the 7 trumpets mean, and that is related to those 7 assemblies. Whenever I try and tell my sister these things, her viewpoint is that the men in the 1920's, 30's, 40's were wrong, but the governing body today is right. Armageddon is right around the corner, and we will all see it. The JW actually prefer to be dellusional, and feel they have special insight. Well after many yrs, I had to realize no one has special knowledge of the scriptures. They should be taken in context and they are stories about a certain period in time. the end - fine, it tells us of a world that is violent. As we know the world has always been violent. Our times are not any better or worse than two thousand yrs ago we just have more people.

How come JWs never see that beating god into children does not work? Are they back in the 16th or 17th century? Adults can hardly sit for two hours and listen to boring speakers, how can children be expected to sit there and listen to these things? I can just imagine all the truly dumb parents sitting there tomorrow thinking this is a great article. I also agree with Gill's comments. The bigger picture is obey the society or else. Do not question the GB as we cannot possibly understand their great meanings of the bible since we are all children in the congregation. And it means our life to blindly obey the parent organization. I was beaten by my JW parents, and my father was an elder. I no longer speak to them, they were, and are, awful people.

Memorial 2007
by Ténébreux inwell i just got back from the memorial, after being dragged along somewhat reluctantly.
during the talk, one statement in particular caught my attention which i hadn't heard previously.
the speaker was explaining why probably no-one there should be partaking of the matzo and wine, because on the night of the passover jesus began selecting his 144000 heavenly co-rulers starting with the 11 apostles who were present - and that from then on, most of jesus' other followers just observed and did not partake, recognizing that they were of the earthly class.

So, is there a biblical record of the memorial celebration after the death of christ? Was it supposed to be only a command to the apostles of christ at the last supper? The memorial would end with their reunion with christ in heaven?

Regarding Gill's statement - "I believe that this article is Watchtower 'double speak' at its most psychological and complex level." I think that's probably the answer I was looking for. I wasn't confused by Blondie's analysis, I was confused by the actual WA article. The society literature is always bizarre and insulting.

I could be missing something here, but i don't remember the grounds for divorce mentioned in last week's article about husbands, and this week's article about wives. Almost all couples I have known as JWs are now divorced.
And, last week's article said that men can tell women how to dress, so forth. This week's article tells women that your husband can tell you what to do and women have to accept it. Aren't both of these articles about how women are in total subjection to their husbands, even if the husband is abusive?
AND shouldn't the articles preceding the memorial actually be about JESUS and his life and death?? Not about wives being in subjection to their husbands?? I am confused by this.

SCANNED MEMORIAL INVITATION
by Mary insomeone was asking for a scanned copy of the memorial invitation, so here it is, front and back.
i've uh, revized it a bit to say what they really mean.
please feel free to distribute to anyone you think might be interested in attending.

I can't express how true your version of the tract is!! You hit the nail on the head and managed to precisely sum up the WA organization!! That is their true message to people. Whatever happened to me (that I can't yet identify) when the fog lifted, this is what I saw - your words exactly. It's the governing body that will get you eternal life, its owning a four-door car that shows you are a christian, a riot.

MORE DRIVEL FROM APRIL 15TH WT STUDY.....
by Mary ini'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but on pages 28-29 of the april 15, 2007 watchtower study on let the congregation be built up, they seem to be trying to justify the notion that a person cannot be 'saved' if they leave the organization, even if they have just cause:.
paragraph 15 reads" in modern times, some have ceased associating with the local congregation, feeling that they will serve god on their own.
they may say that it is because their feelings were hurt, they think a wrong is not being corrected, or they cannot accept some teaching.

I totally agree with your comments. I appreciate you posting them here for all of us to read. This is one of the reasons for me to finally completely stop attending those awful meetings. They bear no resemblance to the first century congregation. The more you read the bible, the more you get frustrated and angered by JW teachings, rules, endless regulations having nothing to do with actually worshipping god. I see more now how its recruitment, money, control over people, that's JW in a nutshell. They want you at their meetings to isolate you from your friends, family, co-workers. Yes, I used to listen to everything, Result? I have no education, no life. I am slowly getting back my relationships with family members that forgave me for shunning them, and building friendships outside the cult.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 2-4-07 WT Study (Justice)
by blondie incomments you will not hear at the 02-04-07 wt study (december 15, 2006, pages 25-29)(justice be done).
when in particular will god "cause justice to be done"?.
(luke 18:1; 2 thessalonians 3:13) granted, the coming of "the great day of jehovah" does not depend on our prayers--it will come whether we pray for it or not.

I look forward to Blondie's summary each week. I've learned more here than from any meeting at the KH. The opening paragraph, and throughout, is insulting to the reader. Its my fault that I expected the end to come, its my fault that I stopped attending empty, useless meetings, it must mean I am returning to my former wicked ways. Well guess what "brothers" I was raised a JW, my parents abused me mentally and physically if I even thought of having any independence. I am finally rejecting a corporation that has no resemblance to the early christian congregation. I do hope this WA insults more people, and finally wakes them up to the empty, hateful organization they are so loyal to.

Fallacy of the "Light gets brighter" Teaching
by rassillon inthis is by no means a complete discussion of the subject but i will start it with my thoughts and i hope those smarter than me will contribute.. the wt teaches that the changes in doctrine and their understanding of the scriptures over the years is because as we get nearer the end of this system the "light gets brighter" or god allows(?
) a better understanding.
this is based off the scripture proverbs 4:18 which states.

What I never was told, or even knew to research, was that the "slave" was getting the dates consistently wrong for about 100 yrs. The society should have told its flock all through the yrs they were guessing, hopeful, and admit they were wrong. It is not new light or adjustments in thinking, they were wrong, and I suffered for it. That's the light that went on in my head for me. I had to finally think about what I was following, I had to admit the society is just flat out wrong, and knows nothing more than any religion through the ages. And that comment is correct about trying to talk to the elders, they do not listen, it is like talking to cult members. They are programmed with responses and don't really hear what they are saying. I can really see it clearly now when I was sitting in the meetings and going door to door, its like, we are programmed to say certain things, that are just not true. Its very hard to explain to someone that hasn't experienced the "truth" themselves just how programmed the JWs are.

Thank you sammielee - You expressed what I could not. I was one of those kids sitting in a KH and could hardly breathe from the anxiety. I was filled with terror, ingrained in my brain throughout childhood, terrified of imagined demon spirits in my bedroom at night. My parents took advantage of that fear instilled in me. I was abused physically many times by my loving JW parents. It turns out, they were the demons.
