Seems the ruling class JWs in New York are worried that their lifestyle is in danger. They are pressing us poor folks out here to do THEIR work. I really think this quote above means the Bible predictions in the Bible came true in those days (providing you believe the Bible).
I think the governing body is tricking the reader to just skip all the JW history, from the 1800's to now, and believe that "an earthly paradise" will soon be here. I think you are not supposed to look at their failed historical dates, the reader isn't supposed to put two-and-two together and see that its the society causing hardships on the membership, not worldly governments.

That's IT cultswatter!!! Its the missing crown!! I never would have noticed it. Now they are "correcting" their own illustrations from that Revelation Climax book in addition to the text!!
They simply did not reprint the Revelation Climax drawing without the crown, because it would have been noticeable to the public. So someone did a bad, goofy, drawing of their own to omit the crown!!
I am definitely brining this up to my super JW family member to alert them of this major doctrinal change - something that they may not have the courage to put in print - that 1914 meant nothing - Jesus was not crowned then, and now the door is open to new annointed.

let's assume for the moment that god decides what is good and what is bad.
does he 'a' choose what is good because it is obviously good or 'b' is it good simply because he says so?
if 'a' then what is good is independant of god and he has no choice but to accept it as good.. if 'b' then the definition of what is good is arbitrary - god could decide that child abuse was good and it would be because he said so.. clearly this is ridiculous because we all recognise child abuse to be a bad thing and that is why god would never label it as good.
That Genesis account has always been confusing to me. Raised a JW I was told to simply believe the following based on the faithful and discreet slave:
Adam and Eve gave the world knowledge by eating from the tree, no one has eaten from the tree of life, thats why we die; Sodom and Gomorah were destroyed to get Lot to leave those cities (he and his wife were happy and prosperous/notice Lots wife was killed) and keep the lineage pure by his daughters having children to preserve the line for the birth of Jesus; Abraham sacrificing his son pictured Jesus being sacrificed.
Today I think people receive no direction from god, despite what the Society wants you to believe, they are just another corporate religion trying to get people afraid to control their dollars and their everlasting life. Evidently god know wants your money.

a producer with nbc in new york called within the past hour to tell me that the segment i interviewed for (once in nashville, tn in august and once in washington, dc in october) is set to air tonight on nbc nightly news with brian williams, that is, if no huge calamity takes place to bump the feature.
this piece will be two minutes and 45 seconds long, the longest slot nightly news has for topics of interest, and will feature a discussion about the court documents that are found on the cd i recently produced, "secrets of pedophilia in an american religion, jehovah's witnesses in crisis.
in addition, nbc's internet site, msn, will follow with a detailed story.
I hope all you loyal JW corporate supporters out there keep sending in your money to the Society. Keep up your godly work of supporting their lawsuit fund to defend themselves in court due to the protection of molesters and rapists.
What did the JW press release say? Only 11 elders in 100 yrs have been prosecuted, yet not the society (?) Uh, excuse me, I know personally of about a dozen of such cases in my own KH and the "poor" molestors say they're are sorry and are working on it (gag) and the entire matter is kept confidential. NO disfellowshippings, no informing of the congregation, no removing the perpetrator from the home, and no protection for the victims.

i was raised as a jw and was baptised when i was 16. i am now 35 and have finally realised that "the truth" is actually the opposite.. my family has a long history of mental illness and i am "lucky" to only suffer deppression and panic attacks.i believe what i was taught as truth has effected me adversely.
e.g " you won't have to go to school son, armageddon will be here before then.
I also agree 100%. It took me a very long time to walk away but I do not regret it. My family latched onto the "truth" yrs ago and they also have mental illness. Mom was afraid to go outside, my father was a pathological liar, my grandfather committed suicide. And yeah, I was never to graduate high school.
c.t.russell began with a personal "purpose" which was to find a way to believe in/worship god while doing away with the beliefs he found to be personally uncomfortable such as hellfire.

Very good summary Terry. And in my personal experience it was and is an evil cult that many people are simply trapped in. I am free of them yet have been damaged mentally and emotionally by their domineering, mean-spirited, self righteous bizarre fantasy world that will lead all its followers to the grave. I hope some JWs curious of this site will read your post and see its religion for what it is, just a money mad corporation fleecing the flock.

thank you WT comments for the article and excellent analysis - i like the way you bring up the self hypnosis angle the JWs use. It is true, the meditation, closing your eyes, picturing events or scenes, the so called prayer and meditation is self hypnosis and it does work providing you are faithful to it. Once you stop then your emotions begin to emerge and that's when the fog starts to clear in your brain.
Also another disturbing thing, as Blondie used to point out, where is Jesus in this discussion? Just bizarre how Jesus hardly exists in JW world and don't the annointed believe in heaven they will be co rulers with Jesus, not in subjection to Jesus? Just amazing the claims they make.
This article is just more proof the sinister governing body is attempting to turn the young and impressionable into this life of recruitment and sending money to the GB so they can be fat and lazy and lead a life of comfort. You have to get the young, destroy their lives very early, in order to keep them captive in this cult.
