It's definitely not an equivalent. Born agains can live more happy and fulfilled lives than JWs can. They can go to college, pursue more advanced and challenging careers, travel the world, celebrate holidays, befriend non-born agains, or maintain relationships with family and friends that leave their religion, and most will never have someone criticising them for doing so. Yeah, like JWs they expect to earn a life better than this one, but on the most part, unlike JWs, their beliefs do not prevent them enjoying this life to the full.

Born again JW's?
by free2beme ini am sorry, but i just find it so hard to see a bunch of former witnesses doing the whole born again thing.
acting in a way that is just trading one line of thought, for another.
basically, one time you said you were waiting for the "new system" and now you pulled that thought out and replaced it with the "waiting for heaven" comment.

NY Times: "Bad times are good for churches." Why so little JW growth?
by Seeker4 inin today's ny times there is an article on this topic, and here are two quotes:.
"bad times are good for evangelical churches.
'its a wonderful time, a great evangelistic opportunity for us,' said the rev.

Slim, why are you putting the Anglican and Pentecostal figures together and then comparing those figures to the JWs? It's not fair to compare one denomination of Christianity (the JWs) to all others and declare the JWs are doing better than 'Christianity' If you're separating the JWs, all denominations should be kept separate:
Overall Anglican church attendance dropped 31%
Overall Pentecostal church attendance increased 22%
Overall JW church attendance increased 11%
That's a fairer reading of the statistics than:
Overall Christian (-JW) church attendance dropped 34%
Overall JW church attendance increased 11% -

"NYT article dealt with "Evangelical" churches - the "at church" figures probably are for the UK as a whole. I don't know how big the evangelicals are in the UK, but I'd be willing to wager a large sum that they've grown more than 11% over 16 years!"
Sir82, they are, one of SBF's says pentecostal churches grew 22% between 1989 and 2005, proving evangelical churches are growing at a faster rate than the JW ones. -

What do you think of this-obese win right to 2 airline seats for price of 1
by sir82 insee this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27827328/.
obese have right to two airline seats, one faresupreme court of canada rules for those functionally disabled by obesitywhat do you think?
just from a purely selfish standpoint, i would be grateful if the 500 pound passenger next to me were able to occupy 2 seats, rather than being wedged into 1 (and spilling over the sides)..

I support it. I sat next to a very large lady on a flight home from the States recently, and it was very uncomfortable at times, I'd have been quite happy for her to take 2 seats for the price of one.

Prop 8 - Petition against the tax-exempt status of the Mormons
by Devilsnok ini see no reason why any organised religion should be exempt from paying their due taxes.
here's a chance to rob the mormon church of their tax exempt status.... please visit http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/review-the-501c3-status-of-the-church-of-latter-day-saints-the-mormons and sign it and pass it on to your friends.. .
the lds church contributed a significant amount of money and effort to endorse prop 8 in california via its network of church, media, and community outlets enshrining discrimination under the law for thousands of californians and their families.. .

Big Tex,
In the UK most Christians don't really care what Gays do in their privacy of their bedrooms, and if you ever read Christian Message Boards you'll notice a difference between European members and US members on social issues. I think it's just one of those wedge issues your country's republican party has used to keep people voting for them. The Republican parties ideals are so bad and so strongly supportive of the rich, the oil companies, and the neocons, that if they ever became socially liberal, they would barely register a vote outside of the rich. -

1 Cor. 11:26
by buffalosrfree inas often as; just what does this mean, strongs has it as 4178 meaning many times, others (some) believe it was once yearly.
and yet again others believe it happened after they gathered together to eat and afterward the celebrated the lords last supper.
just how often is/was it to be celebrated.

"Just how often is/was it to be celebrated."
It was never mandated, because it doesn't matter, and God doesn't care. -

Since you on the right won't answer this question. Abortion
by dawg ini posed this question on another thread... namely burns and hooberus...wouldn't answer, so i thought i'd ask it again in an open thread..., .
you on the right disagree with roe v wade... so that means that you want to redefine when a zygote, embryo, or a fetus has what anyone would rule for lack of better words "the right to life"... .
exactly when is life, human as per your definition?

So what do "you on the right" think the punishment should be for a woman who aborts?

Have those in favour of banning abortion outlined what the punishment will be for the women who then commit this "crime"?
