Onthewayout,
That's true, it is rarely mentioned now, I have spoken to several JW's about 1935 and few of the younger ones know about it. Though in less than 10 years every member of the GB will be a post -35 anointed. I'd find it strange for them to let it continue as official doctrine, but perhaps they'll just not mention it anymore.
I don't think it's in the Bible Teach book, so they already seem to be fading it out.

The JWs still blind to the implications of the 1995 generation change
by greendawn inin 1995 the wts as time finally caught up with them, they had to yield to the inevitable and admit that its hitherto interpretation of the so called 1914 last generation was erroneous.
to all intents and purposes the end was indefinitely posrponed it could be centuries away according to the new explanation.
yet the r&f do not seem to realise these implications and are apparently suffering from collective blindness they still believe the end is as near as it was before 1995, just round the corner.

According to the anointed 1935 doctrine, the end should still be very close. Especially seeing that Jehovah doesn't use predestination, and couldn't have known that replacements would have occured, he should have planned to end this System before the 1935 anointed ran out and couldn't look after his Organisation anymore.
When they change this doctrine though (Which I expect them to do eventually) then there is absolutely NOTHING that can put a time limit on how close the end is, according to their timelines. -

Proplog2,
I don't think there's anything sinister about the Society's interpretation, other than the fact that they just don't have a clue.
At my recent Circuit Assembly, during the DO's public talk, the guy sitting next to me excitedly said 'I think he's going to reveal who the last King of the North is!' He didn't. I wasn't surprised. I don't think they will EVER again state who they believe the final King of the North to be, as they are becoming too afraid of being wrong.
Remember as well, that according to the Society's interpretation in the Daniel's prophecy book, the Anglo-American King of the South and the Final King of the North will NOT be involved in a battle. They will actually form an alliance in order to ban religion worldwide. -

Seven Trumpets of Revelation
by Zico ini read on here that the society teaches that the seven trumpets of revelation are representative of seven conventions held in america in the 1920. is this actually true?
is it old light?
i asked some witnesses but they all gave me a look like i was weird and said it couldn't be right, and i can't check the watchtower library as i can't get it on my computer (apparently the society doesn't think mac users are worthy of the 'good news') i mean... it would be a bit...odd, wouldn't it?

I was reading through Revelation chapters 8 and 9 during the Highlights at the meeting tonight. I just find it ridiculous that they can apply such major prophecies to some small Conventions.
For example, the prophecy about the 5th trumpet reads:
Revelation 9:1-21
1 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet. And I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth, and the key of the pit of the abyss was given him. 2 And he opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke ascended out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun was darkened, also the air, by the smoke of the pit. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came forth upon the earth; and authority was given them, the same authority as the scorpions of the earth have. 4 And they were told to harm no vegetation of the earth nor any green thing nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
5 And it was granted the [locusts], not to kill them, but that these should be tormented five months, and the torment upon them was as torment by a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 And in those days the men will seek death but will by no means find it, and they will desire to die but death keeps fleeing from them.
7 And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle; and upon their heads [were] what seemed to be crowns like gold, and their faces [were] as men’s faces, 8 but they had hair as women’s hair. And their teeth were as those of lions; 9 and they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the sound of their wings [was] as the sound of chariots of many horses running into battle. 10 Also, they have tails and stings like scorpions; and in their tails is their authority to hurt the men five months. 11 They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss. In Hebrew his name is A·bad´don, but in Greek he has the name A·pol´lyon.
All those 11 verses, applies to:
5. 1926 London, England: A locustlike plaguing of Christendom and its clergy, exposing their rejection of God's Kingdom, and hailing the birth of that heavenly government.
It's hard to believe they can even try to teach this. That's not even funny, it's just embarrassing. -

I went to the Service Meeting tonight and there was no special announcement.
Though the 4th talk on the School was about avoiding 'the false stories' of apostates. That has nothing to do with the announcement like, I just find these talks comical. -

Service Year Comparison 2004/5 - 2005/6
by TheListener ini apologize but i posted this on another thread and then decided it really deserved its own thread.
yes, i know that is only my opinion but what else have i to go on?.
thanks to a pm someone sent me we can now compare 10 months of the current service year to last year's service report.

Obviously more of the current publishers are now reporting, but they're getting less baptisms, which is the main thing.
Last year they had an average of 995,000ish publishers, but only managed 28,000 baptisms. That's only 2.8% of publishers who manage to 'help' someone on to baptism, and most of them are kids! -

Hi 2112, Thanks for your quick reply! I rather hope they still teach it, than I can go back to them and say 'Remember that look you gave me like I had lost my mind, and when you said that I couldn't possibly be right...' Hopefully it will plant those first seeds of doubt. It is rather arrogant to apply Revelation to themselves. They do it a lot in Isaiah as well... Thanks again, Zico

Listen Up Dalai Lama! Your Days Are Numbered!
by Arthur inthe end of false religion is near - kingdom news campaign.
every once in a while, i get a stomach-churning glimpse into the the bizarre mindset of jwism.
what strikes me is how the jws believe that this tract is going to "shake people up", and stir up a firestorm of controversy that will shake the entire earth to it's core.
-
Zico
I know a dub who reckons this tract campaign is part fulfillment of prophecy in Revelation book. Apparently the one where God's true religion foretells that the Harlot is going to be destroyed, and where the message of salvation turns into a message of condemnation. He's yet to get back to me on the scriptures that support this... THE END IS SO CLOSE! There's no time to be subtle anymore, we HAVE to get that point across NOW! ... Some JWs are sooooooo deluded.
