Thanks Rebel8,
Some funny stuff in there.
This one: 'Doctors are dangerous, incompetent, evil Jews like those who crucified Christ.' made me laugh the most.

Book study funnies - blood
by Zico inthe book study tonight was all about abstaining from blood.
the usual nonsense which we've all heard before, but i thought i'd share some amusing comments from the completely misinformed and delusional brothers and sisters there tonight.
i wish jwfacts, td or any of the other board blood experts could have been there tonight to hear this, now that would have made a good study!

All this has actually been taught as official doctrine? Amazing!
I did wonder where they got it from. And the members think the Society leaders are so clever as well. -

Sister fruitloop - 'They can screen blood for diseases like AIDs, but they can't trace other diseases like malaria and hepatitis'
Brother kiss-ass wannabe elder - 'Apparently after a blood transfusion you can pick up personality traits from the person who donated the blood.'
Sister elderette - 'There have been women who have had blood transfusions from blood donated by a man, and afterwards, they grew body hair.'
And my personal favourite:
Brother Conductor - 'I knew a bloke who had a blood transfusion, and shortly afterward, he went completely bald'
Really, these are all true! It was hard to hold back the laughter... What was really remarkable was how everyone just laps it up like it must be some kind of scientific truth... It's a bit sad really. -

Laying the groundwork for dumping the "1935 anointed cutoff" date?
by sir82 inthe next domino to fall in the society's muddled chronology-based teachings is very likely to be the concept that the "general call" for anointed members of the 144,000 ended in 1935, when the "great crowd" was identified.
after 2+ decades of seeing the number of "memorial partakers" hover in the mid-8000's, when actuarially speaking the number can't really be more than a few hundred at most, the society needs to do something (as in, change the teaching, just as the passing of time necessitated a change to the "1914 generation" teaching).. at our circuit assembly this past weekend, i heard something which makes me think the society may already be laying the groundwork for this "new light".
the public talk included "4 lines of evidence" that we are living in "the last days".

sir82,
In the Public Talk at my Circuit Assembly the speaker mentioned the UN being the 8th king.
According to the 1935 doctrine, Armageddon should have come by now. Since Jehovah can't look into the future, he can't know about replacements and should have planned to bring the end before replacements would become so important. If there had been no replacements, we'd have 3 men in their 90s/100s running the whole Org now. Jehovah wouldn't have put that much pressure on them if he'd made 1935 the cut off date! However, if you ask Witnesses about it, very few of them even know the 1935 teaching, so there isn't as much need to change it as the 1914-Generation teaching. -

Meetings are BORING!
by 5thGeneration inwhy do the brothers take such offense when someone says that the meetings are boring?.
i can't possibly fathom how people who have been going to the meetings for decades can sit at the kh and listen, for example, to yesterday's wt study for an hour about adam and eve, cain and abel, how we are all allowed to pray, blah, blah, blah... and not be bored out of their minds!.

Going to the meetings is torture... More so when you know everything coming off that platform is CRAP.
Almost everybody finds the meetings boring, but sometimes it can take work to get them to admit it.
The Public Talk can be the best if you get an interesting speaker, but it can also be the worst if you get someone who is dull. -

African JWs Can Keep "Messianic" Attire Because It's There Culture!
by minimus inmy mom went to the sunday meeting and a missionary that was formerly in the congregation was showing (boring) slides about the "work" in africa.
when he showed some pictures of some witnesses, they were dressed in what he called "messianic attire".
he told the audience that it was no big deal that they were being allowed to continue this style of dress by the society since it was merely seen as "cultural".

I saw a beautiful thing yesterday --- a gift from God
by jgnat inyesterday i saw a couple i hadn't seen for many years sitting together on the bus.
i'd always wondered if they had managed to stay together.
they looked the same, save a few more dry wrinkles, as they did twenty years ago.

That is sad about the baby. But really great that they're so in love. Thanks for sharing that story.

I reckon there'll be another 1 or 2 GB members due to the recent deaths, and Ted's heart problems.
