Whatever Happened To THIS Belief?

as jws, we used to be told that "when they are crying peace and security, the end will come".

nothing indicates that this will be happening any time in the near future, but the "new" tract would seem to make people think the "end" will be soon.. has the wts changed this "peace and security" teaching over the past few years?

if they have changed their thinking, how have they worked their way around that one?.

On page 251 of the old Revelation book, at paragraph 14 it used to say:

"What form will the significant cry of "Peace and Security" take? It is here mentioned as being outstanding just before the sudden destruction of those making the cry.It will have to be something more pronounced than any previous declarations by world leaders. No doubt it will be on a world-wide scale. Yet, it will be no more than a facade. Underneath, nothing will really have changed."

BUT! Now we have those Kingdom Ministry revisions, and now this paragraph is meant to read:

"In recent years, politicians have used the phrase "peace and security", to describe various human schemes. Do such efforts by world leaders constitute the begining of the fulfillment of 1 Thes. 5:3? Or was Paul refering only to a specific event of such dramatic proportions that it will claim world attention? Since Bible prophesies are often completly understood after thay are fulfilled or in the course of fulflillment, we will have to wait and see. Meanwhile, Christians know that whatever peace and security nations may appear to have achieved, basically nothing will have changed."

Is this what you were looking for?

The best part about this change, is that in the original statement, they wrote their prophecy, with 'No doubt' and then changed it!

I use to think those 'apostates' who did protests at Conventions were nutters. I still think they're nutters, but they're friendly nutters, who were trying to help us! :)

If I see them at future Conventions, I'll see if I can give them a subtle wink and smile. I wouldn't be able to get away with anything else of course.

Suprising statement by C.T.Russell in first Watchtower

there's a website that has reprint of lots of old watchtower, and i happened to look at the first one, dated july, 1879.. http://www.mostholyfaith.com/bible/reprints/.

in a supplement to the issue, by c.t.russell, he offers a suprising (to me) viewpoint which seems to echo the arguments of many 'apostates' here, namely, that to kill billions at armageddon would be unloving and unscriptual.. we reasoned that, if christ's coming were to end probation, and bring irrevocable ruin upon ninety-nine in a hundred of mankind; then it could scarcely be considered desirable, neither could we pray with proper spirit, "come, lord jesus, come quickly!

" we had rather request--much as we should "love his appearing"--that he remain away and our sufferings and trials continue so that "if by any means we might save some.

Yes! Russell taught that the Great Crowd were a second HEAVENLY class.

He thought, that everyone who didn't go to heaven would be resurrected on Earth. The Bible Students still believe this.

Rutherford changed this belief, saying the Great Crowd had an Earthly hope, and that anyone who was not a JW would die at Armageddon. Probably to keep a stronger hold on them with fear.

I called the local newspaper about the KN 37, religious editor interested

i called the local paper today explaining that the jw's were starting a big "end of the world" campaign today, and that i had recieved a flyer in the mail today.

i stated that many of the things the jw's condemned in it, are problems within their own church as well.

after a good 10 minute discussion, i agreeded to forward her scans of the flyer with comments attached.

i just took the dog a walk, and saw 4 dubs at the top of our street, trying to place kn37.

this is, of course, the first official day of thecampaign, so i expext to see a few more of them than usual over the next few days, but it's not often i see them at this time of day (3:10pm when i spotted them).

they all know me, and when they saw me walking towards them with the dog, who does admittedly look a bit fearsome, being a pit bull/staffordshire bull terrier cross, they looked a little nervous, as if they thought i was going to set him on to them.

Oh, and notice the fact as well that the campaign is for 2 weeks in October, and 2 weeks in November. Why not just the whole of October, or just the whole of November? Surely that would make more sense?

NOPE! By extending it over 2 months, they can get people to auxilliary for October AND November, and boost hours over 2 months instead of one.

This has to be the reason!

It's just a numbers game...

We have been told to write how many Kingdom News Tracts we place on the back of our reports. I guess the Society want to say 'We reached this many people with the tract in one month!' using the usual over-exagerrated figures (Since most people lie on their reports)

Also, we're not allowed to but the tracts in people's mail boxes for 2 weeks, and then we are allowed to leave them at not-at-homes.

Veil Wearing Moslems v Cross Wearing Christians

things are getting nuttier here in the so called "united" kingdom.

we now have a female moslem classroom assistant who has been suspended from her place of work because she insists on wearing a veil in class.

bizarrely she works in a church of england school and at the interview wore no veil while being interveiwed by a man.

She was asked to remove the veil because the students said it made it hard to understand her. - Good sense really.

Do the JWs just completely miss the scripture which says the end will come like a thief in the night?

The thief doesn't tell you when he's coming, the point is he could come at any time so you always have to be ready. Not only is he not going to tell you the year he's going to come, he's not even going to tell you that he's 'very near'

And since only Jehovah knows the day or hour, whatever the GB thinks is irrelevant, and would be irrelevant even if they really were God's 'appointed channel'

i almost had to sneeze and scream bullshit when i heard this.

the brother giving the talk said that the society has never made a prediction about when the end would come.

he said people just read what the society published, and added their own thoughts to it!!!

In my last Sunday talk the elder said Jesus is the mediator for all Witnesses.

I guess some elders just don't have a clue about what the Society teach.

Question for ex-JW

what are jw relationship between work and wt?

i mean when jw is working some work (say secretary), does they report all deeds of company to elders?

will they "spy" if asked?

I had a conversation with a JW about this recently. I asked him, if someone told him they had done something wrong, and asked them not to tell anyone what it is, and he promised not to tell them, if they then told them it, and it was a disfellowshippable offence, would he tell the elders.

He told me that he would tell them to go themselves at first, but if they refused, and it was a 'serious wrongdoing' he would go himself, in order to protect Jehovah's sanctity, and help them repair their relationship with Jehovah. I said to him 'But you just promised not to do that.' Then he said that a person's relationship with Jehovah is more important than any human relationship, and said that by telling you the wrongdoing, the person would be trying to get you to share in the wrongdoing, and therefore deserves it anyway. I told him I'd agree if he could find me a scripture that said there were circumstances where you could break a promise. What he didn't know, was that the 'serious wrongdoing' was from myself, and my 'apostasy' And by telling me he couldn't be trusted, he missed out on the chance to find out the Truth about the Truth. I would expect them to do the same if something came up at work.
