Overheard at the Book Study
by under_believer inhere are a few comments that i overheard at this week's book study (of the third chapter of the bible teach book), and the thoughts i had after hearing them: .
conductor: "as food shortages become more and more common as the time of the end advances, they will make excellent field service points since they were predicted by the bible.
me: great.

Your comments take me back a few years when I started to figure things out. I started actually listening at the meetings instead of just mindlessly thumbing to scriptures. I predict it won't be long and you won't be able to stand it anymore.
I already can't stand it. I am still going because my wife is not yet on the same page as me. Nor are my parents, though I might not be able to do anything about that one.
I have to sit there with my brain shut off. Mostly I sit and read the Bible the whole time. Sometimes though comments filter through and I cringe.

I had current Governing Body member Guy Pierce as my circuit overseer, before he was on the GB.
That dude is a stone cold, hardcore, fire and brimstone type. -

How did the WT art affect you? Did you find subliminal WT art as a JW?
by freetosee ini was always impressed by the art in wt literature, especially by pictures of the throne of god, heaven and angels, the visions of daniel and revelation.
these added in deepening my acceptance and understanding of wt teaching.
the earthly hope was very appealing to me, yet i whished to be able to go to heaven for a short time just to see the spirit realm and then return to live in earthly paradise.

I like the second one too. It is remarkably similar to the WTS rendering, only Babylon The Great is totally HOT and it would make a great desktop wallpaper for my computer.
wearing headbands
Yeah totally! What is WITH those "worldly people" and their headbands?

I hated when there was a long song at the end of the meeting.
TOTALLY. You know how with that "new" songbook, the tan colored one, they for the first time had two page songs? And they sometimes trot them out at the meetings, but they usually reserve them for District Conventions. By the end of the three days you will have covered every single two-page song in the book, and because its thousands of people singing they sloowwwww it waaaayyyy dowwwwwnnnnn so that it takes like ten minutes to finish the damn song.

Things JW's Say: "In the New Order, I will <insert activity here>."
by under_believer inone of the most notorious things that jw's like to talk about are their expectations for the new order.
they talk about what things will be like, the kind of activities they'll enjoy, how resurrection will work, what the "worldwide cleanup work" will entail, which houses they'll appropriate, how they'll finally be able to have the kids they've put off, and so on.
here are some of the things i've heard witnesses say about the new order: they would personally explore the moons of jupiter for possible human colonization they would eat meat, since isaiah talks about "well oiled dishes filled with marrow" they would travel the world they would learn to play the piano they would research the "other scrolls that would be opened" they would play football (but not tackle football) they would have bible studies with newly resurrected ones they would speak hebrew (it's the language god gave adam and eve, you know, and we'll all have one language in the new order...) they would literally never feel any pain sensations ever again, even if they banged their elbow.

United Nations Member Nations Consideration Implmentation of UN Income Tax
by FairMind inthis morning on the radio news, mention was made that the united nations member nations are considering instituting a personal income tax.
this would be an income tax levied by the un on all of the worlds age earners.
if this is done then imo we are truly on the brink of a new world order under the direction of the un.

Also please keep in mind that the US is drastically far behind on its UN dues. They just don't pay them.

Amnesty, that was my thought too. I always follow the money in these circumstances, and the truth is, the borg is a non-profit. This is an actual legal arrangement. Among other things, they have to act in a certain way to retain that status--this includes literally not turning a profit. Nobody is getting rich. The SEC would shut them down if they were.
