there are so many new posters here now, i think this topic should be revisited.

i believe the most ridiculous belief that witnesses have is a "slave class" made up of 144,000 give spiritual "food at the proper time".

why can't jws see thru this??

dividuals have become atheists seeing that at one time they.

professed a belief in god.. the intent is not to argue, debate, or incite to riot.

I am agnostic. It's possible that this is temporary and that I'll either swing back to belief in a higher power, or go atheist. Or maybe I'll just stay agnostic forever.

The God I was raised to believe in, Jehovah, clearly does not exist. I refuse to believe that a being capable of creating the universe would be so incredibly racist, sexist, violent, petty, and insecure as Jehovah is portrayed to be.

With that established, it leaves me with a vacuum. This vacuum has yet to be filled--and perhaps it's not necessary. I'll get back to you in a few years with my decision. :)

Are you really free from the Watchtower?

the thread on how long it took you to get out of the organisation made me think.

i honestly think anyone that spends more than half an hour per day on anti-jw sites like this is, psychologically, not out of the organisation at all, despite their best protests.

the watchtower clearly still fascinates them to the point of an obsessive, compulsive need to frequently post on this website and others.

No. And I doubt I ever will be. Provided I am successful at breaking out myself (something that is still up in the air) I plan on donating time in the future to helping others get free.

Can someone explain why JW's use, "BCE, CE, etc" ???

i always thought this weird, even as a child.

i think i remember asking, but never really getting an answer.

what does the "e" stand for when they use dates like "607 bce", etc?

The Witnesses did not invent the terms "BCE" and "CE". But they do dovetail nicely into their beliefs and doctrines, which minimize Christ. The terms, whatever they used to mean, are now synonymous to "BC" and "AD". But "BC" means "Before Christ" and "AD" is Anno Domini, which is Latin for "The Year of Our Lord".

Switching to the secular terms takes Christ out of the picture nicely. I imagine that since the term "AD" was coined by a Catholic monk, they may consider it to have roots in false religion, as well, though BC was coined by a secular historian and doesn't exhibit the same complaint.

dido nooooooo! Don't do it. :) You already know how I feel about this, I don't need to tell you. The big thing is that I can take ANY image with sufficient noisy detail--paintings or even photos of trees... mountains, maps, etc... and find faces in it. The task becomes 100 percent easier with a mirror. Seriously, almost any detailed picture. I'll see if I can demonstrate if time allows.

i just drove past my local kh at 10:30 wednesday oct 18 and there was at least 60 cars in the parking lot.

the parking lot is always empty on wednesday mornings but not today.. i had to marvel at the supreme control the wts has over it's members.

the last time i saw a turn out like this was just after the boxing day tsunami.

Nope. I have always been incapable of that kind of duplicity. It's a personality defect of mine, I guess. I walk around with a sour, evil look on my face and it either intimidates people (90% of people including most elders would not approach me) or makes people say "Hey u_b, is it really that bad?" To which I respond, after a moment of reflection, "Yes. Yes, I believe that it is indeed that bad."
