I was severely picked on as a schoolkid, but I don't have conclusive data on whether it was caused by my being a Witness. I was a pretty odd kid that likely would have gotten picked on anyways. I suspect being a Witness didn't help much.

Google Trends: The Mormons are kicking the JW's asses
by seattleniceguy ini thought that title would get your attention.. google has released a new and fascinating tool, called google trends (http://www.google.com/trends).
it allows you to see what people search on over time.
just type in a search term, and you'll see how people have searched on that term over the past two years.

I did major petting with an elder's son in the parking garage during one assembly...he kept telling me - "keep your eye on the prize" LOL
Hilarious! However I believe the official JW term is "heavy petting."

Is the reason the JW's go door to door to find converts?
There are two overtly stated reasons. A) Because Jesus commanded it and it is part of the worship. B) To make disciples. These two reasons are independent of each other. Often in territories that have been dead for decades (like most urban/suburban territories in the US) the first reason is played up more--even if we're not getting results, we should still be out there knocking because Jesus commanded it and it is part of our service.
You see how that works, right? Even if it is complete waste of time, resources, money, it's still encouraged. It doesn't help the Society out one bit if people have free time, they might start reading and thinking and that will lead to people falling away. What do they hope to accomplish by going door to door-- best case scenario? A new convert? a book sale? a chance to roar like a lion about the JW bible?
Best case scenario for one day's work is to start a Bible study. Best long term scenario is to "bring someone into the truth," i.e. make a convert. Sales are no longer an issue since literature in the US and many other lands is no longer sold, it is given. Hint: Can't give the stuff away, either. See part A) above--while these are the hopes, they are not the only goal.
Is there any mystical force that you employed while engaging in non JW's about the bible?
This is not what you mean, based on your previous posts, but Witnesses do teach that angels guide the field ministry work and bring people to doors they might not otherwise have gone to where "sheeplike ones" are "sighing and crying."
Did you ever felt impressed by Jehovah's spirit to go down a different street than the one you were about to because someone there needed to hear your message? Did you ever feel "guided" to someone's door?
No. Never. Not one single time in my entire life.

A Stumbling Block to Faith
by Crispus ini posted this on a couple of other boards but as so far no jw has responded to the points i made.
"god disposed of jesus' body, not allowing it to see corruption and thus preventing its becoming a stumbling block to faith.
" the watchtower, november 15, 1991 page 3 if god had an angel roll the stone away from the tomb and created different bodies for jesus "over 500 witnesses actually saw jesus alive following his resurrection, and his faithful apostles were eyewitnesses as he began his ascent back to heaven and then disappeared from their view in a cloud.

"No fear" t shirts, forbidden???
by free2beme inin the 1990's there were a lot of things that had the saying "no fear" on it and one of the local elders figured out that this meant we live life and do things without fear.
so that basically we could try things and take chances, without the normal fear we associate with things in life.
well in a special needs talk they decided that "no fear" t shirts should not be worn by good witnesses and they asked that we not wear them to witness gatherings, or even in life.

Blondie, your exerpt:
From km-E Us 4/06 Vol. 49 No. 4
Page 4, "Keep In Expectation Of Jehovah"
5 Modest Dress and Grooming: Each of us can contribute to the overall impression given at the convention by avoiding styles of dress and grooming that are faddish, extreme, immodest, or overly casual. This applies when traveling to and from the convention city, while helping to prepare the convention site, and while attending the sessions. As servants of God, our first concern is for Jehovah's name and reputation, not our personal preferences or comfort. Family heads have the responsibility to make sure that their family's appearance reflects modesty and soundness of mind at all times.--1 Tim. 2:9.
6 It is no less important to maintain a dignified appearance during leisure time at hotels, stores, and restaurants. It is appropriate to wear our convention attire if we eat out after the sessions. Wearing our convention badge card creates opportunities for us to witness informally.--2 Cor. 6:3, 4.
*****************************
Okay, so I guess it doesn't explicitly say that we need to wear our dress clothes on the way to the convention. However it is very vague and I think open to that interpretation, since it lists three times "this applies" all in a together like that, and then making that comment about comfort. -

I don't believe that Muslim nations being the King of the North is an official doctrine - yet. It's definitely being heavily speculated on by some R&F I know, and I have heard rumors that higher ups like COs and DOs have made speculative statements about it too.

Society gets New Light™ on UN?
by under_believer ini have been doing some research recently on the society's most recent teachings and statements about the united nations.
as we all know, the society has made some very extreme, very negative statements about the united nations in the past, even as recently as 1999: *** dp chap.

Most Witnesses I know don't care. They could give a rat's ass about wild beasts . . . that's not why they're Witnesses.
That's interesting to me and I think probably true. What do you think that means, then, for the Society, who keeps having Witnesses study the Revelation book, and the Isaiah's Prophecy book, and the Daniel's Prophecy book, and all this crazy prophetic interpretation stuff? That they are out of touch with the flock?

Do you believe that Demons really Exist.
by MARTINLEYSHON inthe reason why i have asked such is question is that i served as a congregation elder for 12 years.
i served as the presiding overseer for 10 years, and as chairman and media spokes-person for a particular region.
during my time within the organisation that being almost 30 years, i have concluded that there is, as far as my own experience is concerned grave doubt in my mind as to the existence of the devil and his demonic hoard.
