Book Study Parties...New Trend ???
by Poztate in.
truthseeker just posted about the wt congregations discouraging large social gathering or parties.. in the last little while my wife has gone to a few "book study parties" and has commented that other book studies were doing the same.. it seemed a little strange to me that this was happening as most of her congregation seems cold and distant at the best of times.. i wonder if it is a new "program" started by the wt to hype up the old "brotherly love" thing.has anybody heard or seen this to be happening lately if you are still close enough to know?

Some Book Studies™ in my congregation have a monthly "goodie night" where people bring little snacks for a little coffee break thingy after the study is over.

JWD forum is another battleground for your souls.
by Spectrum inif you think about it, it's true.
what's the difference?
constant shifting sands, one minute the grains are over here then we seek to blow them over there.

I agree with itsallgoodnow. What's the alternative? What changes in behavior would you like to see? You said
We tell each other don't believe that, believe this. What's the difference? Constant shifting sands, one minute the grains are over here then we seek to blow them over there. Where are we running to who are we pushing where?
...that sounds WONDERFUL to me. Actually being able to discuss and analyze belief instead of having it imposed, and believe it OR ELSE? Heaven.

new prophecy
by why144000 inthe marauding maroons (the king of the north) will tonight decimate the king of the south.
the attacking nature of the north will darken the 'blue' sky.
this will not be the 'end' but merely the beginning of the end.

I believe that the current understanding is that Kentucky Fried Chicken, with their extra-crispy recipe and their questionable slaughter practices, are the King of the North. The King of the South is unclear, but the celebrated scholars at the Society have recently begun to suspect that wombats, as a class, mind you, not any particular wombat, are fulfilling the prophecies pointing to the king of the north. How will "Jehovah's peculiar work" come to its conclusion? The Bible does not say. However, over six million truth-loving men, women, and children, from every race--black, white, and yes, yellow--have "grabbed hold of the skirt of a Jew" and associated themselves with Spritual Israel, the remnant of which left on earth employ various legal corporations to "fully accomplish their ministry."

Circumcision and Jehovah's Witnesses - a personal account with research
by PrimateDave ini wrote this article to post on this forum because of the pain that i felt at one time.
i know that i can never get any acknowledgment from the watchtower bible and tract society because they could never admit that infant male circumcision is mutilation and abuse.
if for some reason some of you believe with all your heart that circumcision is a good thing, i would request that you read this with an open mind.

I can't believe anybody would argue for the cutting off of part of someone else's penis. It completely boggles my mind. I mean, if I cut off both of my arms, I'll never have to deal with broken arms, either...

The name Jehovah and demons.
by Zico inthe society teaches that if unexplainable things are happening in your home, then shouting out the name jehovah will cause them to stop.
as you probably know, this is meant to be because these strange things are caused by demons, which may have posessed an object from your home, which was previously used in demonic activity.
but, supposedly, since they fear jehovah, shouting out this name can cause these things to stop, even if only temporarily.

*** w66 12/15 pp. 743-744 Repelling the Attack of Wicked Spirits ***Finally, it has been found that many under demon attack are not “vigilant with a view to prayers.” (1 Pet. 4:7) They are not carrying on prayer “on every occasion in spirit.” (Eph. 6:18; Rom. 12:12) Pray for God’s deliverance, even out loud if under attack, calling upon Jehovah’s name. (Ps. 121:1-3) Avoid anything that would destroy your faith, your righteousness, your service to God, your hope. Keep on your suit of armor.
and, in Malaysia:*** yb88 pp. 45-46 Asia ‘Praises Jah’ ***
As a matter of fact, to protect themselves against demon attacks, all in the family, including the father, wore a talisman (tangkal). When the family realized that Jehovah dislikes anything even smacking of spiritism, all removed their “protective” charms immediately except the father. That was a mistake. The father again came under demon attack. This time, though, the mother called out Jehovah’s name and prayed aloud for half an hour. Finally, the attack stopped.
So many of those stories are from some third world country in Africa or Asia that still has shamanism and witch doctors.

Should you apologize????
by jw inyes, a person should never be too proud to swallow his pride, apologize, and seek forgiveness.
abigail, a wise woman in ancient israel, provides an example of the power of an apology, although her apology was for a wrong that her husband had committed.
while dwelling in the wilderness, david, who later became king of israel, together with his men protected the flock that belonged to abigail's husband, nabal.

jw, you are a troll and liar.
Multiple people have called you on your blatant ripoff from the Watchtower website, which you copied and then edited just a bit to make it look like it was from you. It is a word for word from that page that three or four people have independently verified. You even left in the original hyperlinks. This thread is going into my bookmarks, and any time you post, I'm going to trot it out again to remind everyone what a fraud you are.
You aren't even a real JW--besides the obvious problems associated with a real JW posting on a board like this, no JW that I've ever known would exhibit the poor behavior you've shown in multiple threads.
It's time to get a new username, because this one is shot. -

"An Outcast"
by scout575 in"i was astonished that i had blindly let these people put the ideas in my head that god and the bible were, "absolute truth".
i began doing some thinking on my own and my closest family and friends began telling me that i was "backslidden".
i have become an outcast amongst people who said that they would always love me and who preach never ending forgiveness.

I want to point out, though, on the other hand, that there are Christian churches out there that do not claim to have the only truth, allow a great spectrum of beliefs while agreeing to disagree, and do not shun anyone. There are even churches that include more belief systems than just Christianity in the same service, like the unitarian universalists. Don't judge the entire spectrum of Christianity or worship or belief by what you've experienced with the Witnesses.

1999 new light on voting?
by under_believer inso it was just brought to my attention that the nov 1, 1999 watchtower, while still strongly discouraging voting, says:.
*** w99 11/1 p. 28 questions from readers ***.
as to whether they will personally vote for someone running in an election, each one of jehovahs witnesses makes a decision based on his bible-trained conscience and an understanding of his responsibility to god and to the state.

I recently registered to vote in my home county. I am fading but still very "in," and I was hoping it would serve as a little personal secret disobedience, to bostler my resolve.
Now I'm finding out I won't even get in trouble for it! Damn it. :) Thanks all for your input, you are all a cornucopia of wisdom, and I appreciate you very much. -
