Introduction
by Creeper ini thought it would be polite if i just introduced myself.
i am a former jehovah's witness that left studying a few years back for the purpose of solace and grace in my life, freedom from the hypocrisy of men, and the teachings which the bible does not correspond with.
i have since adopted a more simple way of living, and no longer have to worry about ring around the collar, or that book study that i never read ahead for.

Good point Searcher, I think that's what everyone is getting at. All the negative, petty things that people controlled by a dub mentality would think, instead of a normal, caring, human response like "maybe I should call and see if he is ok".

Post the weirdest conversation that you had with a JW
by jambon1 inthere are quite a few but the one that got me wondering wtf i was part of was when an elder explained to a group of us that he wanted to actually see the worldly people being executed when the end comes.
i thought to myself "you unbelievable bastard".

One conversation that immediately comes to mind is one that I had with my mother....
We were talking about the fossil record and dinosaurs. And she claimed that the demons and satan had "planted" the dinosaur bones and other fossils, so they aren't real.

My parents telling me that Jehovah was "with us" at the meetings and then thinking that the bible study conductor was Jehovah. I was very young at the time...my parents thought it was cute, but the elder got mad everytime I made the mistake of calling him Jehovah. No sense of humor!

Ive finally done it....
by diamondblue1974 init's taken two years to finally decide to have it done and further what to have....however i have now done it..... .
i am over the moon with it and sirona keeps walking round the house muttering something about it being so sexy... good decision all round methinks!.
my mother will kill me but dad thinks its cool and wants me to take him to the studio where i had it done...ah well, you can please some of your parents some of the time eh?.

Re-enactment of the Milgram Experiment
by C_of_Tranquility inbefore it was illegal to do psychology experiments on humans, dr. milgram did this test to see what people will do simply if they're told to.

but i found dr. milgram's experiment the most disturbing and while you watch the clip keep in mind there are no guns held to anyone's head for enforcement.

We were just discussing this experiment in my psych class a couple weeks ago. I think it shows that free will is not necessarily complete; humans do not always freely choose what to do.
As is the case with the F&DS and the R&F like C_of_Tranquility had mentioned. I think this scenario is similiar to when elders on a liaison committee are pressuring the parents of a young child who desperately needs medical treatment not to allow it. The parents love they're child and want them to live. In they're hearts they know that they should allow they're child to receive the treatment, but because of the tremendous authority the WTBTS exercises over the R&F they comply. This isn't true in every case, but sadly it does happen. -

1/15 WT: The Watchtower's Sick Social Order
by metatron ini just got done reading the latest watchtower and it reinforces any notion that the old men who run this religion.
want nothing to do with ethical reform of their cult.. the magazine gives an effective look at the way that the watchtower hierarchy maintains their sick social order.. first, women are inferiors, period.
nevermind the fact that women can manage/run/ or lead an organization equally as.

I just loved this little gem on page 4:
"This does not mean that a woman is to be completely silent at a meeting of the Christian congregation. She is to be silent in the sense of of not getting into disputes with a man. She is not to belittle his appointed position or endeavor to teach the congregation." pg. 4 1/15 WT
So even if a MAN is absolutely WRONG about something, in no way is a lowly woman to call attention to that fact or disagree with said MAN. Excuse me while I go barf!
