  Let's have some fun.

  And I saw, and Look! A man! With an expanding stick in his hand. And the rains fell from heaven, and there were loud noises. And something that appeared to be an ugly creature, appearing as a sea monster ate the man and the many people who crowded about him sing a song as if of the name of the beast. And the stick shrunk and the crowds went in, 23 of them and looked forward at the lights and there proved to be a disgusting thing....

  Translation: A guy was holding an umbrella in the rain, waiting for the bus. The bus station was busy, and everyone was bitching about being late. The guy closed his umbrella and went into the bus and someone passed gas...

  oh for the perfect drug...

  Hambeaks Extremely Heartbreaking News

  our friend hambeak just got the most dreaded phone call from his jw child.

  the news was passed on as he was asked for by name and not as"dad" and let known that "they" just called to let him know that his other son, brian, age 26, is dead.

  he was in a car accident.

  I respect your view, and I am sure you will respect mine. We are the same age and I lived in your beautiful province for some time. What I respect most of all is we have the freedom to express our opinions and differences. Does that mean I am going to do a pre-emptive strike on another country to force my belief system down their throat? No. However, were I to walk down a street and see a man hitting his wife or child, what is my moral responsibility? I'm not one to buy into the nonsense of the current administration down South, but the moment freedom to express my opinion is threatened, I will stand my ground. Or perhaps I could just become a hermit in the woods, or an ascetic running from reality like the proverbial Ostrich with his head jammed in the ground. Remember my friend, laws govern all of us. Even the Buddha and his followers had to beg for food. Peace is what we all want. Just don't expect the freedom to express your view without a wee bit of a struggle. If you leave that to other people and then tsk tsk them for ensuring it, that is your right.

  i want to start this thread, but my relevant postings are already under child sex abuse "cary verse arrested again" and under friends "sex abuse of wives" as well as scandals and cover-ups "psychopath murderer"-something.

  I don't know what to say, and I can't imagine the humiliation and abuse that women have had to subject themselves to and endure under the false idea that they are in servitude to God. One of the many reasons my wife and I left the org was the ridiculous misogyny that they promulgate. They look to "heros" like Solomon, Sampson, David etc... etc.. that treated women like livestock. Women who were actually part of a decision making or political process (Jezebel) were villified and executed. Please keep talking about this, don't let it be buried under the carpet as so many things are in this sick cult. Thanks for your bravery and honesty.

  Well, he was a mysogynist, a homophobe, a control freak and a wacko... why not add thief to the resume? No offense to the Christians on the board, but we really know scant about what actually happened among the "congregations" at that time. I know the official WT position is that he supported himself as a tentmaker (I guess there weren't many janitorial positions available at that time), but I don't doubt for a moment that he profited from the generosity of his followers. Thanks for the analysis, very interesting!
