I also cleaned offices. Mostly banks and a couple of lawyers offices. I always wondered what went on during the day. I dusted the pictures of their families and wondered what their lives were like. Sometimes I really liked working at night and not being a nine to fiver. Other times I got freaked out because it was so late and I was all alone.

What were your expertise? Stripping? Waxing? Did you own your own machines/business or subcontract from another brother? Any disputes? Horror stories? Ever have to go in service after going on no sleep at all?

i remember lots of families under stress due to being jdubs.
you are always told by the tower not to work overtime if it conflicts with the meetings and not to go for higher education, for the same reason.

I'm paying for the belief that Armageddon is just around the corner, so why even finish high school? I consider myself reasonably intelligent, but it is difficult to convince employers of that when the sum total of your experience is cleaning toilets and the "door to door ministry". I suppose I shouldn't be sour. After all, Jehovah's people have the best education of all! Regardless, we are working on it. My wife is in her last year of college, and I will be applying to University next year.

Those of us who are blessed enough to have an earthly hope will sit and have picnics with the Koala bears and Kimodo Dragons and Beluga whales, and when our children are born (not too many, we will magically become impotent eventually so as not to overpopulate the earth) we will toss poisoness vipers into their cribs so they can play with them. Won't that be wonderful?

I've only ever been with my wife, and our first time was premarital, but I was lucky because she had experience and was very patient with me. I hadn't a clue what I was doing. I was just so blown away that I was actually doing it.

there are so many after after 52 years in the "borg".. my top two would have to be at my last hall tigard oregon.. one lady slept in her pickup truck with 30 parakeets, sometimes in the kh parking lot.
people tried to help her with accommodations but she like the truck.
she really dressed up for the meetings......feather boa's, big hats, looked like may west from the 30's.

A brother in our hall wore a giant sombrero in service to keep "caterpillars from falling" on his head. One time a brother walked from the back of the hall, plucked a leaf off one of the fake plants, handed it to the speaker and walked out the back door. One sister kept her hand up throughout both the reading of the paragraphs and the questions in heil Hitler formation. She was never picked, but I was always curious as to what she might say. Maybe she just wanted permission to go to the bathroom. Some very unique individuals in that Org to say the least.

I can't believe you are all missing the obvious. If you look at the illustrations of Jesus in most (except for that weird pink book that preceeded the Live Forever Book) of the Society's publications, Jesus had a beard. Beard, ergo: weak spiritually. He didn't know any better than to talk to Satan. Once the Elders reproved him and took away his microphone privileges I'm sure he shaved and bought a decent suit from Walmart. Let that be a lesson to all of us toying with the temptation of growing facial hair (well trimmed mustaches excepted).

i started a thread after i finished the first chapter of this book entitled something like, i'm an atheist.
i finished chapter three and i have to backtrack a bit, but i also feel the need to explain why since i was so vocal.. first, let me say that i think everyon should read the first two chapters of the god delusion by richard dawkins.
he brings up some very important points about religion and about science's place in our world.
Thank you for sharing your personal insights on Dawkin's work. One must understand that collective reality is simply a bunch of comparisons. For instance, we cannot call someone tall without a comparison to someone who is shorter. Is there a real logic which dictates this person tall? Will a tape measure do? Perhaps... if we all shake hands and agree that these are the standards by which we measure "height". 1+1 always equals 2 to the objectivist, because within the confines of what is presently comparable that will always be the outcome. Does that equal truth? I can't answer that. What I do know is that God has not been empirically proven. Doesn't mean he never will. Just not yet.
