It would seem that people are starting to do some thinking for themselves. The largest lies that the world has ever seen seem to have a foundation in religion one way or the other.

Has this been confirmed?
by sinis inmy ex-jw brother in law told me the other day that he received a call from a brother asking him if he would like to come back to meetings.
he told the brother not at this time.
to make a long conversation short, the borther indicated that they have been told by hq that two watchtowers will only be printed once a month.

I have also heard about this. It sounded strange to me at first, but then again so do most of the things that the WTBTS has been putting out as of late. Desperate measures for deserate times. This little bit of news came to me about a week ago.

First time back in a Kingdom Hall in over 25 years
by I quit! inyesterday was the first time i stepped into a kingdom hall in over twenty- five years.

I am very sorry to hear of your family's loss. How long did it take before someone in the Kingdom Hall offer to study with you and bring you back into the so-called "truth"?

Why were my parents against dating and having anything to do with girls?
by tsunami_rid3r ini'm dating 2 girls right now and i'm trying to build a relationship with either, just seeing where i land, but i don't know if i can be romantic.
asking a girl out is no problem, thats become easy, but actually getting intimate with them is hard for me because i don't want to be accussed of harrassment or something silly.
i want to blame it on the fact that i don't have experience and that i'm just doing this late.

Dating is not allowed unless you have every intent on marrying the person. I remember back when I was in high school, I was dating a girl and some young sisters caught me kissing her in the hall before we went to class. They reported me to the elders and I was soon called into the back for some much needed counceling. Needless to say, I continued my association with this fine young lady that I was seeing.
I never understood why everyone has to be scolded for learning the opposite sex. If I were kissing another guy in school, I am sure that would have set off all kinds of bells and whistles. I kinda view trying to find a relationship like shopping for a car. You never buy the first one you see. You might have to test drive a few before you find the one that you want.

Five years?! You can get that and less on a felony drug conviction!! It's obvious what the court thought about Samantha's life.

Please keep Enterprise Ala in your prayers
by oppgirl63 ini work about 15 minutes from enterprise, ala. i had taken my jw roommate to the greyhound station in dothan so she could go home for a week (she has epilepsy and can't drive).
when i was coming back through enterprise, i stopped to eat lunch and the tornado crossed the highway about a quarter mile from me.
i was about to leave and walked outside and looked up and you could see it coming.

I am glad that you and the others that were with you where you were eating are okay. That was some pretty quick thinking on your part. It wasn't that long ago that we had a rush of tornados rip and tear through my area here in Central Florida (about 30 miles north of my location). My thoughts are certainly with those who are from the area that have been hit and are devastated.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Caught in the headlights
by Honesty ini recently asked a jw to explain the discrepancies in the following scriptures between 1 corinthians 10:3-4 and 1 corinthians 10:9 in their new world translation:.
first i presented the scripture as it is rendered in another modern day translation, as it is rendered in the original greek and as it is rendered in the latin vulgate:.
1 corinthians 10:3-4 they all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink.

That sounds like it was a true Kodak moment! I would have snapped a photo with my digital camera!

Do JW's still believe this?
by ctrx ini remember overhearing a discussion my parents had in the mid 1970's.
it was about who would be resurrected after armageddon.
supposedly, those who heard of "the truth" and rejected it were dead forever, but those who had never had a chance to hear it would be resurrected for a second chance to submit to jehovah/the watchtower society.. .

Once again, the witnesses have found another way to contridict something. I heard the same thing and it was taught to me in my family bible studies as a child. What gets me is that I was taught that when a person dies, their slate has been wipped clean. Didn't Jesus say that the wages of sin is death. Or something like that. When a person dies, aren't his/her sins forgiven? I mean, isn't that what Jesus came here in the first place?
I never understood that entire concept, but obviously... it is just another mind game by the Watchtower organization to guilt everyone into attending their meetings and events.

Are parents allowed in their teenagers judicial meeting?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ina 16 year old girl was recently disfellowshipped from my congregation.
i was told by some busybodies that she had a ''wordly'' boyfriend and that she committed fornication.now she sits home alone while her parents attend 3 meetings per week.. my questions are:did the elders meet with the parents first to let them know what the offense was?
were her parents told what the judicial meeting would be about and how it works?

I find it interesting that when a minor is being questioned by law enforcement, there has to be a legal guardian present. Yet, the elders can question and berate a minor without a guardian present. Elders and the WTBS feel that they are over and above everyone and everything.
My wife was telling me the story of when she was placed on Public Reproof when she was 16. Her mother was not present while the elders ripped into her for being pregnant. They had their meeting with her before the meeting began that day and then made the announcement before the meeting got underway. She had to sit there the entire meeting feeling like crap and crying while everyone looked at her like she had the plague. It is nothing more than wearing a scarlet letter.
So much for being tactful and understanding. Shortly thereafter, she stopped attending the meetings.

You're certainly looking at some "back room" time with the Elders if you are found out. Happy birthday to you son! What I find interesting is that there probably aren't witnesses ever in that Chuck E. Cheese... but there will be that day!
