He's doing you a kindness--the only other option (at present) is to get married, and JW/nonJW marriages carry a whole mess of baggage right from the start. Read some of the posts here about the terrible struggles some of these couples are having--estrangement, divorce, ferocious custody battles for children. You're much better off not having that kind of threat hanging over your head. Best of luck to you.

I'm sinking into depression and I can't seem to shake it
by Nellie inyesterday was my birthday - sunday is father's day.
we went out to dinner (my first celebration in over 30 years), my husband gave me a beautiful gift, my kids were great, my sister (who's baptized, but on shaky ground herself) sent me flowers and joined us .
i'm filled with sadness for all the missed years .

It's a bad combination--hormones, depression, regrets. The only thing I have to add to the good advice already given is not to expect too much too soon. It will take more than a few days, or a few months, to regain your balance after the trauma you've experienced. Take care of yourself and and learn to forgive yourself.

would you let your son or daughter date a non jehovah witness?

I'm not a JW and my non-JW son is in his 30s, but I would never have allowed my teenage child date a JW teenager. To understand my reasons, read some of the other threads here. Read them carefully.

Yes, minimus, your threads are very good, too. But my favorite threads are still Farkel's--logical, direct, scathing, devastating.

Prepare in advance printouts of some of the best threads on this site (be sure to include Farkel's). When the witnesses come to the door, offer a trade: their current offering of truth du jour for your printout. Promise you'll read their stuff if they read yours, and invite them to come back any time to discuss each other's conclusions. You'll never see them again, ever.

Thinking out the box - how long did it take you?
by jambon1 inwhen i studied, i believed it all.
you know, not only the new system stuff but all the things relating to how bad 'wordly education' is, elders deserve our unequivocal support, apostates are evil, etc etc.
it must have been about 2 years into my love afair with the org that i began to have serious misgivings about the conduct of elders.

jambon1:
Thank your lucky stars that you were in the org for only 2 years. Your chances of a complete recovery from JW indoctrination are very good.
Those who were in it from childhood are the ones who suffer most, both as children and as post-JW adults. Indoctrination of a child, no matter who does it, is extremely difficult to overcome later in life, even when they can see that the perimeter of the box is a glowing neon. -

I was reading Lovecraft back in the 1960s. Glad to see his work has staying power.

The kindest thing you can do for this man is to not attempt to bind him to an intolerant and cruel religion.
The kindest thing you can do for your children is to not raise them to be outcasts in school and in life (they will suffer, I promise you. I speak from experience).
The kindest thing you can do for yourself is to thoroughly educate yourself about JW beliefs (the negatives as well as the positives) and get out of the cult as soon as you can. -

The faithlessness here
by grissom6471 init is a shame that people are here portraying themselves as jehovah's witness as having some knowlege or going to meetings.
what exists here is a complete lack of faith in anything.
and a great amount of stupidity.

***I have many talks from various people in the organization from the governing body to other Bethel speakers and assemblies and district and circuit overseers. That is what Jehovah's Witnesses are about.***
hello, grissom6471.
Many years ago when I was pregnant with my first child, medical tests revealed that I was rH-negative. Doctors advised to accept a Rhogam injection, which is made from blood fractions, to prevent the possibility of rH-related birth defects, including mental retardation. I took that injection despite the WT's (then) ban on blood fractions. Another sister in my cong was also pregnant; she refused the shot and yelled in my face that "It's BLOOD!" My child was born healthy; her child was born with mental retardation.
THAT IS WHAT JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES ARE ABOUT.
