I was and still am married to a non-believer. He never pressured me to leave the JWs, but was there to support whatever I chose (not many guys like that, I'm lucky). I chose to leave the JWs about 6 years after we were married, and our son was raised a nonJW.
Based on my experience, my advice would be to get the kids out of the KH and JWs immediately. Take advantage of that option while it's open to you. The longer the kids stay in the org, the worse they are damaged.
In the meantime, continue supporting your wife. If you and the children are happy, that will do more to help her than any amount of talking about beliefs.

Their actions prove they are smaller than the little people they presume to judge. -

Apostates are organized, all in one group
by ocsrf inthis is a perception that many have who are faithful jws.
i have to admit this of course was my feeling at one time.
only after being part of this forum do you realize that so called apostates are just people with only one thing in common and that is they feel misled by the organization and have a differing opinion which is never, ever allowed to be voiced without being condsidered apostate.

The WTS judges others using their own miserly scales: since they themselves are a tightly organized and paranoid group, they assume their detractors must also be organized and paranoid. It makes JWs feel special to believe satanic opposers are plotting in secret to persecute them.
To me, this board seems to made up of almost every religion (including JWs) and non-religion out there. It reminds me of something...................what is it?.....................oh, yes. The real world.
The JWs are like "a sad little king of a sad little hill." [River, from "Firefly"] -

Wife beating during 20 years and fiduciary duty
by chasson inwife, a member of the jehovahs witnesses, sued watchtower society and church elders alleging that the church and the individual defendants failed to render assistance to her when she was consistently and repeatedly beaten by her husband over a period of 20 years; actions for intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress and for breach of fiduciary duty time barred; limitation periods not tolled by the doctrine of fraudulent concealment; church teaching that members were not to resort to lawsuits did not postpone the running of the limitations periods until plaintiffs expulsion from the church; however, the claim for breach of implied contract to protect plaintiff so long as she was obedient to the church was timely because the alleged breach could be considered to have occurred on the date of plaintiffs expulsion from the church; but the claim for breach of implied contract was barred by the first amendment case # 801 (10/00) (conn. super.
ct.) (for collateral proceeding in the same case, see index entry in the next paragraph) .

***Apparently, it's ok to counsel someone to stay in a marriage for 20 years where they're being abused. Note words :it was not outrageous.***
LDH,
I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think the courts were saying it's ok for the JWs to counsel someone to stay in an abusive relationship. They were saying it's the org's right to give advice, even if it's bad advice, and it was up to the woman whether or not to take the bad advice. The courts assume adult JWs are capable of making rational decisions about their lives. And legally, I guess they have to make that assumption; otherwise, the courts would just end up being another "parent" to JWs who won't take responsibility for their decisions. -

I'm a believer in the Church of Parakeet. It's a non-denominational, non-monotheistic, non-proselytizing, non-biblical, non-doctrinal church with a membership of 1. I searched for many years and examined many religions before I discovered this church, but it was worth the time and effort.

What would be the point, other than to see whether or not they hang up on you? If they haven't kept in touch, they don't care about what's happened to you. Don't give them the satisfaction of feeling they've done a good and noble thing by snubbing you.

As a lazy JW teenager, I avoided reading the WT because I found it too boring for words. I read the Awake only if I saw an article that piqued my interest, usually about animals--Porcupines, Our Prickly Pals, or some similar nonsense. I occasionally read the Bible out of curiosity, never to help me understand the magazines.
