it is just devastating news. My husband's relatives live in Louisiana, just above New Orleans. The hurricand wreaked havoc on them, now this. So many people may their living from the water. And the poor animals. The tourist industry will suffer all along the coast. I have to say it, but they are "ruining the earth." I

Our Southern Friends- Are you Pissed about the Oil Spill? I Know I Am ...... !
by flipper in......... and i live out here in northern california !
i mean , they go to all that humungous labor, build a huge box to put over the oil gushing out and wham 5,000 ft. deep it gets clogged with ice crystals.
now they are talking about a couple other alternatives in the news- all the while today haliburton, bp, and other reps are meeting with federal officials getting into a pissing match and fight over who is responsible for the spill ?

Glad you're here!!!
I was a mess when I came here in 2006. It's been a long journey....and I'm still on the road to recovery. My husband and I were "in" more than thirty years. I know we can never get those years back, and sometimes it really gets to me....such a sense of loss.
I hope we can all heal together.

Feeling down
by tec inmy son got suspended from school for fighting.
not just fighting but choking another boy during their fight.
he started it in anger over something the other boy did, but none of that actually matters.

One more suggestion.
I print out quotes like the one from Carver, and tape them to the back door. Every morning, everyone must walk up to the door as they are going out. I don't say anything, just post them. Each has a positive message. I change them about every two weeks.
Every once in a while someone in my family will comment, so I know they are read.
We can never get enough positive reminders to help us to be the kind of person we should be, and strive for greater things.

I am sorry to hear of your son's troubles. I work in a school and see anger and bullying every day.
I like the comments about getting your son involved in soccer or another form of physical exertion that is a team activity. Maybe boy scouts would be something to look into, also.
Please also don't neglect his academic level. If he feels confidence here, it will help greatly. Read to him and with him. Many times kids are made fun of if they are below level academically. Look into all kinds of different books, nature magazines, etc. He needs to be well-rounded.
Also, travel if you can. He needs to get a broader view of the world, and away from just the neighborhood or school area, and maybe meet new people. There are also summer programs for kids you could look into. Some work at zoos, help endangered sea animals, etc.
Could you volunteer with him maybe at an animal shelter? He needs to do things to feel good about himself.
Will be thinking about you and your son, and wish for success.

Welcome to the forum, Soldier77.
I am sure that your bad memories will never go away, but if you can formulate some new goals and start enjoying things you've always wanted to do but couldn't because of meetings, etc., like hobbies or taking trips, then that will occupy your mind with some good times.
It does take time, though, to get really mentally free, so give yourself the time.
Glad you are here with us.

At least the tract was in the correct room, where one goes to get rid of ........
It goes to show there is no area of life the JWs don't want to control!

So sorry you lost your loved one.
She had a wonderful life with you-she may have died earlier if it wasn't for your love and care.

Welcome. The feelings you are describing are some that I, too, experienced. Betrayal, a saddness that took my breath away.....and yes, I am sure being pregnant is making things feel much worse.
You must follow some of the good advice offered here. Listen to happy music, get excercise out of doors. Yes, if there is a prenatal class of some sort, join.
About your family-tell your family members that you've changed congos and been depressed. It would be good if one of your family members could be with you when you first bring home the baby. You will need extra rest and help with the baby. You don't need to get into congregation info. If you must, tell them you haven't been going because you've been ill. Don't rush into anything. Take your time to sort things out about when and if to tell them you are not going back.
If it is not possible to have a family member stay with you, get your nest in order. Have food available in the freezer, all clothes clean, extra towels, etc. You will not feel like doing housework or cooking for a few days after the baby comes, and you and your husband should just have time to bond with the baby. If nothing else, arrange to pay someone to clean the first week you are home.
Your feelings are normal. It does get better with time, however.
Wishing you the best. (My daughter is 22 now, and our pride and joy)
