I could not care less. If they came to my door and told me that I was going to be df'd, I'd tell them to do whatever made them feel the most self-righteous.

I guess it actually wasn't painted on...it is a peel and stick. Maybe just the date part can be peeled off and replaced as needed!

Perhaps he could have use a magnetic sign for the truck that would not be so permanent...then when the end does not come....simply discard that sign, put up a new one, and deny that he ever said any other date....say others "ran ahead" or "read too much into" any other date. These excuses have been successfully used by the WTS for many years now.

Bought a paper shredder to shred bound volumes. After burning that one out from so much continuous use, bought another one and happily continued shredding.
Then, I also enrolled in college-I am 59 and not through yet, because I have to work full time and go to school part-time, but I'm enjoying every minute of it and recommend it to all. Knowlege is power.

Prayers for my daughter, Ali, not a good update
by coffee_black inmy last update on my daughter was so good...but it didn't turn out that way.
she was cleared to go back to work, but with limitations... she couldn't lift more than 10 pounds.
her employer wanted her back but wouldn't agree to the lifting restriction.

So sorry things are not going as well as you'd hoped.
You said:
He is head of cardiology at Florida Hospital, in Winter park.
I had my daughter at this hospital 23 years ago. I remember the staff as being very competent and caring.

Increase in demon activity?
by Igot2bme inwhen i first started studying i was told that i would notice that the demons would try to stop me from recieving accurate bible knowledge.
well i never really witnessed anything unusual like objects flying through the air, bleeding walls, increased nightmares or something of that nature.
almost all the people that i know who have become baptized have a story or two about this having happened to them.

When I was studying with the JWs in 1973, the movie The Exorcist had just been out. I hadn't seen the movie, but had read the book. When the "sister" studying with my husband and I got to the chapter in the 'Truth Book' about worshipping with images, she said if I knowingly kept things that were disaproved by God, it would invite the demons. After work that day (yes, the Witness worked with me) I expected to go home to see the rooms spinning around, and the temperature to be freezing. I ran to my bedroom to get the cross my family had given me for my wedding, and flew down the steps of my apartment to the trash cans, heaved it in one, slammed the lid shut, and stood there gasping for air with my hand over my heart.
It seemed in the 70's that everyone had a demon story. I kinda felt left out that nothing happened to me.

My husband and I left after a JC humiliated and demeaned our teen daughter, making her read a scripture about being "filth in God's eyes." Of course, we are now "dangerous" because we did not agree with this "discipline."This meant that after more than thirty years of being "in" we had no friends, and even though our family members were not JWs, we had estranged ourselves from them so that it was akward to try to reconnect. It was very hard emotionally. In fact it was devastating to realize that we had taken thirty years of our lives frantically working for this organization (my husband was an elder and we were the ones always cleaning, using our home, etc.) It is hard to start over when you are in your fifties.
You must weigh all the pros and cons. If your family is all JWs, and getting older, etc., this may bear on your decision. Like other posters mentioned, can you raise subtle questions such as "I've wondered how to explain the many generation changes in field service when people ask. How do you suggest we handle it?" Or, "I'm having a discussion with a householder and told him I'd bring back some information on where we get our stance on blood fractions. Could you help me?" Perhaps many have secretly been questioning, and you may find out.
In the end, only you can decide. I don't think the big A is as "close as the inside of your eyelid" (which was going around several years ago) so please live your life the best and most successful way you can.

I know how you feel. I'd like to tell them so many things, but the panicky feeling overrides, maninly because I know how it would end up. Whatever I said would elicit the standard comebacks, "Those were just men, we should worship Jehovah." Or, "We wait on the slave to clear that up."
Actually, the only time I ever really spoke to JWs was when I was on vacation in Colorado. There was obviously a convention going on. As my family and I were going out the lobby doors, a large mass of dressed up people came out, some with their badges. I said, (actually I yelled) "Oh, the generation that was alive and at an age of understanding will not pass away until Armageddon, NO! the generation that is alive in 1914. No! Wait! The generation is the contemporaries of the time that don't accept Jesus. No! Wait! New Light! The generation is the annointed! (the latest change, overlapping generations, had not come about) I am sure no one in that large group was late that day, as they could not get away fast enough.
Come to think of it, I felt great afterward. I can't wait to see more JWs.

Good golly....sounds familiar, doesn't it? I'll bet if they just said all the dialogue and left out where they live and the religion they left, we'd think it was the JWs!
Must be hard going, living in a state where the majority of the population is Mormon!
