i was having coffee at a starbucks located in a supermarket chain in one of the towns i work in my business .
while sitting there doing paperwork , what looked like 3 elders on their field service break sat at a table no more than 4 feet from me .
after eavesdropping it was obvious they were elders as they were talking about the c.o.
I was shunned as an elder's wife and active jw...and was told that was permissible and to suck it up. These holy ones also told others to avoid me,
Blondie-Maybe soon when all the good JWs assemble, there will be no talking before or after the meetings, as everyone is shunning each other! Ha!
flipper-good for you for pointing out that shunning for years is not like a 20 minute "time out." It is more a life sentence, and cruel.
tonight one of my sons called me just to say ," mom i love you !
" .. he told me that this weekend he had read a thread posted by kyria about the new watchtower on shunning df'd relatives ,and that it had really made him sad .
he said, " mom, i am so glad we are all out of the jehovah's witnesses ....i just don't think i could of stood it to think you guys not talking to me ...it really upsets me .

How wonderful that you and your family are together. So is mine...my husband, me, and my daughter, now grown. Yes, it is great to use the mind I have, and live every day to its full potential.
she is taking care of herself and is feeling better.

hi i just joined this site although i have been lurking for about a year now.
i am the only jw in my family and now trying to fade.
it's been more than a year since i attended meetings.

How wonderful that your family are not JWs. You can enjoy the holidays with them, and take a deep breath of free air.
I don't know how successful your fade will be. They tend to shun if you aren't attending meetings.Embrace life, set some worthwhile goals, and go for them!
wow, i had some words with my father in law.
over the years i have always had such a profound respect for him because he used to speak from the heart and used the bible to express his view, but lately he has become more and more "wt-ish" with his comments.
my wife has been suffering from severe pain for years due to injuries suffered at the hands of her 1st husband.
Don't stay "stuck in a podunk little town." See if you can take classes in a Tech school or online in a University to better your earning potential and just feel a bit elevated from your environment. Knowledge is freeing.
There was a sign in a place I used to work. A circle had the words "bang head here." You might as well do this if you think the man is going to change.
so here i am... finally.. i'm 3rd gen, df'd since 87 .. married a worldly girl in 88.. to save my soul, daughter in 90 divorced in 92.... let my daughter be raised by others, figured if it's the truth... i'll present it when she old enough to be acountable... just sent her the video growing up jw 1960-2010. by not wanting to teach this to my child, resonated within and well here iam... thanks to this site and all of you... everyone on my dad's side of family is df'd or inactive except my older sister, who has been flying over here to idaho to see us from hawaii.. which is making me think she is getting tired of the retoric.... i don't know where i'm going with this... i just want to change my way of thinking.. i can't see the future... but now i know why.... i have a lot to share, but for now just one thought, on being a jw child.. in 3rd grade i never got see one cartoon on saturday.. when all the other kids were talking about how awesome hong kong phooey was... i just sat there paralized, prentending to have seen it... and angry lol ... i think there are a lot more people out there like me... out but still clinging to 'the truth' in their heads.. because going against is the ultimate 'unforgivable' sin.... that it for now l8r t8r.

my father, who has alzheimers, is dying now (he's 85).
i saw him today - he weaves in and out.
hasn't recognized me for a long time but was usually glad for the company.
So sorry you have to go through this. Dad is very fortunate to have you as his child, there to hold his hand and feel comforted and not alone.
since half of them ended up at my house on friday and saturday nights i was given a very shining report card.
he then told me that he would knock on my door bright and early in the morning to take me to breakfast with him and his wife.
a couple of them told they enjoy the articles i write in the art magazines and they were really happy to meet me.
Read this story before and just read it again....couldn't help myself.
