  i have served 20 years as an elder, 5 years as an ms. was on the district committee in 2010, held various positions on the district , circuit, and rbc level.

  probably been on more than 100 judicial committees and even an appeals committee.

  was the coordinator in our congregation and deleted because adult child was df ( i kicked him out at the time of his wrongdoing, but that wasn't enough for thr brothers).

  Just wanted to add my welcome. Hope you still have a relationship with your son, in spite of the WTS. My daughter was dfd at 16 for some normal teen stuff-nothing really bad. She is now almost twenty six. NOT ONE ELDER has ever tried in any way to contact her to see if she is dead or alive.

  My husband was an elder for over twenty years, and was removed by them because he "could have done more." In fact, they announced his deletion as "good news" along with the appointment of some auxiliary pioneers!

  My daughter went all through school on the honor roll, and graduated from University with the highest honors. We never expected the attack on our family. We are all out together, and are very close.

  My Grammy passed away this morning...

  peacefully after a short bout with leukemia.

  she was 88 years old and the foundation of my life.

  she will be sadly missed by me and everyone whose lives she has touched.. .

  I think that I could get my husband Df'd

  there are some things that i wish the local congregation knew about my husband but i am not sure how to inform them.. my husband was a jw in a previous marriage but none of his family are jw's except for one half sister who he recently met for the first time.

  his ex wife is no longer a believer either and their three adult kids want nothing to do with the jw's.. i met my husband 8 years ago on eharmony.

  i should have been leary when he stated his religion as "christian".

  You would definetely create more stress for yourself if you outed hubbie. I suggest the opposite....tell him how proud you are of him and that you see many wonderful opportunities for him with his....job/education/hobbies/etc. Try to do things together that bring you enjoyment and that will benefit both your health and your marriage.

  my brother's stepson, wesley reier, accidentally overdosed on drugs.

  he is considered brain dead.

  his biological parents have decided to put him in a nursing home, where he will remain for the rest of his natural life.

  What a heartbreak. So sorry to hear this. I wish young people could see the path ahead and not get involved in such a horrible thing as drugs.

  Will pray for your family to have the strength to go through this.

  Welcome to the forum, and so glad your kids are out with you!

  I was "in" for over thirty years. I too went back to school, just receiving my degree in History this past December. I don't know if I'll be able to, but I'm attempting to get a teaching certificate and if I can hang together, teach History.

  as most of you know we got a very angry letter from our oldest son.

  it hurt her very much.

  i feel so bad for her because he attacked her for what i feel was very unfair.

  So very sorry to hear about all the troubles.

  I also am a mother, and my daughter has issues after being raised in a strict JW environment, and then leaving with her dad and I. We were afraid for awhile because it did affect our relationship, but as time passed by we were able to get past the damage and we are somewhat close. Please give it time. It is a struggle for everyone to "find themselves" after spending a lot of time as a JW.

  Being a jw almost killed

  this is the first time i've commented on this site, but i do enjoy to come here just to help clarify myself in times of need, ie when those wretched teachings resurface.

  a bit about myself.. i was born in 1970 into the wonderful happy organisation (lol) and had a unremarkable childhood or so i thought (apart from being abused by an ms), all i can remember is being terrified of dying at armageddon.

  attending 5 meetings a week and being used to preach as people wont shout at a child, studying the literature, not being able to watch popular tv shows, no xmas, birthdays the usual shit.. fast forward to age 16 and i fell in love with a worldly girl (the horror) and got her pregnant, my parents were devasted talking all the time how people in the borg would view them, nothing about what i was going thru, 16 and becoming a father, quite a big thing to me.

  So glad to hear that you are progressing quite well, and have found that special someone. Yes, go for all the things you wanted to do. Sounds so interesting to learn about marine biology. Keep up the good work!

  Why elders' wives are such gossipers...

  i have a theory as to why elders' wives gossip so much.

  i believe a big part of it has to do with the conversation running dry (between themselves and their elder husbands) after so many years of marriage.

  since they don't get to spend too much "quality time" together (because of the elder husband's hamster wheel schedule), when they do have some intimate time alone, the elder's wives will invaribly attempt to engage their husbands in any kind of interchange.

  Blondie....exactly....my husband was an elder for twenty years. THEY are the ones who gossip and revealed "confidential matters." I tried very hard not to listen to or spread gossip.

  My mother wants to see my kids

  i decided to call my mother more often at the request of my brother (the parental units have been driving him crazy and my calling more hopefully will decrease the craziness my brother has had to deal with).

  so i called her last tuesday and the first thing that pops out of her mouth is she recovering from a weekend of babysitting her "substitute grandchildren" (her exact words and actually my nonjw cousin's children) since she doesn't get to see her own grandchildren.. wonderful .

  there are reasons why i don't take my children to my mother's house.

  Possibility 1. Could you meet them at a neutral location? If the conversation turns to your husband, and you just can't head it off, at least you are not in your home or theirs, and can tell them that you are feeling upset and need to leave.

  Possibility 2. Could you send a nice card to them, telling them you miss them, but explain that you have limited your contact with them because you must, as the Bible says, be one flesh with your husband, and that means you cannot listen to someone berating him in front of your children? Then promise that you can visit them more if they can show Christian love instead of the current disrespect.

  I am so sorry they are hard to deal with...on the other hand, when they are gone there is no second chance. Hope this helps.
