That is really sad. What more can I say? It's just sad. I'm sorry you got that "love" letter. It was cruel and unnecessary.

Okay, I'll tell you what happened when I brought up this very subject with my friend who is a r&f dub. I asked my friend repeatedly about this united nations issue. In short, I got the "the bible says it's okay to lie" and the "anything to further the preaching work" lines. I asked him why it was okay to point fingers at other groups while doing the same thing but he didn't have any answer. Did he really believe the line he was giving me? Doubtful. I figure I'll leave him with it and see if the wheels start turning. I might have planted the seeds but I think I also lost my friend in the process. Damn, sometimes being right just sucks.

Of dinosaurs and babies
by Moxy ini had mistakenly made a comment about the flood picture in the original edition of the bible story book showing a dinosaur.
after i made it, i remembered that it wasnt another edition of the book, but another instance of the same pic in another publication, the enjoy life brochure.
lets compare and discuss:.

I believe the small picture of the dinosaur in the distance is none other than the famous "Nessie". Maybe they'll throw big foot into some future drawings?

I came across this, though and wanted to post it. To be fair, the sister mentioned that the householder appeared drunk though her partner-in-crime at the door didn't notice. It sucks to pray with a drunk one. That was the problem, right? That he was drunk?Feel the love:
"With the mention of the tragedy he suddenly wanted to join hands and pray right there on the sidewalk in front of his home.
The brother kept glancing at me (I just kept smiling and thinking how to get out of it tactfully) and said he did not mind praying
but did the man know who we pray to? and through whom?... The man said yes and kept insisting we pray with him wanting to link hands and taking my wrist when I did not offer my hand. When the brother still did not begin to pray the man offered to do it and the brother immediately said no no he would do it.
Finally I mentioned I would be returning to get his opinion on the article, and we were in a group we needed to keep up with and on the sidewalk wasn't such a good place for prayer. (I really wanted to say how about sobering up first)"How sweet.

My New Childrens Book - First Chapter
by Naeblis injack was his name and killing puppies was his game.
he was the best god damned puppy killer around, and folks in them here parts knew he always did good work.
"got too many puppies," the old man drawled, "don't wants to kill them but what can be done?".
-
detective
It's good so far. I'm not reaaly getting to know Jack or the puppies however. A little more character development might work to increase the emotional impact. Maybe you could describe the puppies- are they furry with big brown eyes? Floppy ears. Yelping could do wonders in bringing a gentle tear to the eye!
Over all a great read. That and the borg books as bedtime stories and your kids will be so fucked up, they might end up normal.

My Encounter with a Witness
by Unclepenn1 inwell, the other night i had invited a young man to my house to share with him, respectfully, the false prophecies of the wt, using older wt books.
the conversation started very nicely, with the usual small talk and such.
i decided to ask some questions, that i knew the answers to, but just wanted to get the gears in his head turning.

I had a conversation with a very close, special friend recently. I ended up listening to lots of stuff that seemed like a big lecture but since I knew I was getting ousted I decided I had to speak. It didn't go well. The best I can hope for is that I planted some seeds to mull over. Now, I'm just going to go off and feel like crap for losing my best friend.

Questioning

i was baptized 20 years ago, but have never been in the center of things.

I asked my witness friend about this. He didn't know about it. He said it was okay to be a part of the U.N. to avoid taxation(? Strange because I didn't mention taxation so maybe he knows more than I thought he did about some of the other skunky behaviors exhibited ny the organization). Even though he said it was "taking advantage" of the system, it was okay if it furthered preaching work. The he told me about the bible saying it was okay to lie or some other thing like that.
Bottom line: you give them the newsflash and the organization still ends up smelling like roses, I guess.

Having a Witness over tonight
by Unclepenn1 ini went out the other day to find a j-dub to share the gospel with.
i met a young man and invited him over to my house {tonight} and decided i would ask him a lot of questions, and gradually show him in a myriad of witness pubs that the jw's are false prophets.
my questiuon to you all is...... do you think he will want to split once i show him these things (realizing that i am an 'apostate') or do you think he will want to know the truth.

This isn't a variation of the Hannibal Lecter saying, "I'm having an old friend for dinner", is it?

Oz, perhaps?

letting people air everything helps us understand what the issues truly are.
sure some are more unprofessional than others but a person willing to understand what is going on will not worry about the "ad hominem" attack or swearing.

Shelby,
you said you answered my question but I can't find your response. Would you mind repeating your answer here? The question (agaqin) was about whether or not you post on yet another board and under what name?
thanks.
