i'm about to purchase the book the tinkerer's accomplice: how design emerges from life itself by j. scott turner.. .

the description says that the author takes on the challenge of explaining how design in living organisms occurs in nature without resorting to the unfalsifiable concept of "god.

" i thought it might be a good read and an answer, as it were, to the august 15 watchtower feature article "what does design in nature reveal?

here's an interesting article that shows the power of wishful thinking.... .

in a significant nod toward pro-environment politics, the bush administration yesterday announced a major initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging everybody to engage in "wishful thinking" to cut emissions without harming the economy.

milah, periah, and messisa: these are the different kinds of circumcision as practiced historically in judaism.

this post is not meant to debate the issue of infant circumcision or the issue of whether health benefits can be derived from this practice.

so, please do not cut and paste wads of information claiming that it prevents aids or other stds.

well, i made some new friends recently, a nice family that lives a couple of blocks away.

the husband and i have hit it off like we've known each other all along.

then, he asked what my religious affiliation is.

i just got a hanson-roberts (similar to rider-waite-smith) tarot deck last week, and i have been getting familiar with the cards.

i also got a book, the complete tarot by teresa michelsen.

I want a Bible

i want a bible that hasn't been written by or for 'apologists'.

i want a bible written in english that correctly translates 'yhwh' as 'yahve' or 'yahweh' and 'elohim' as 'gods' instead of 'god'.

a recent bit of study has shown that many modern english bibles commit pious fraud by translating words like 'asherah'(idol used in sex worship by the patriarchs) as 'grove' or 'tree' in order to cover up the true roots of ancient 'hebrew' worship.

peak oil?

i know we have some intelligent people here, so i thought i might ask what you think about 'peak oil'.

i became familiar with the concept after watching a video a year and a half ago called "the end of suburbia".

it was strange at the time because i remembered reading a 2003 awake!

i wrote this article to post on this forum because of the pain that i felt at one time.

i know that i can never get any acknowledgment from the watchtower bible and tract society because they could never admit that infant male circumcision is mutilation and abuse.

if for some reason some of you believe with all your heart that circumcision is a good thing, i would request that you read this with an open mind.
