Terrible. Not just because of the lives lost or because of the political reprecussions that followed.
Those buildings were priceless works of art in themselves. They were constructed differently than other skyscrapers in that the exterior shell is what was providing the support.
So when you walked up to the bldgs and put your hand on it you were not touching a facade but the actual supports.

the instructions were to include a discussion of how the need for workers in the field was great.. basically, the letter says that due to technology, less bethelites are needed, so many are being sent out into the field, with many congregations in the united states receiving the benefits of these "mature" publishers.
yes, they actually said they were sending older ones packing from bethel.
But, unless these ones are still cared for financially by Bethel (some have probably been made travelling overseers and still get cared for), I don't see them reporting back their shocking findings. (Or perhaps Bethelites were more assimilated than I was, and they will do whatever Big Mother says).
I think it will be the latter. The JW's I personally know are the worst keepers of secrets and the biggest bunch of tattletails I have ever come across. It would not suprise me if other adherants willl display the exact same traits.

I first heard about the shooting when I got to work at 4. I saw the news helicoptors circling overhead on my way and in the old days I would have taken Atwater and Ste Catherines to get to work but now I go St Antoine-Guy so I had no idea till i was told.
We had quite a few staff cancel tonight because of it, I work at a research call center. Some because they were at school and others because they had friends/classmates that were. I have a good friend who goes to Dawson. He was running late and got there as people were fleeing in panic. He's quite freaked out.

How are we to be sure that "mature" refers only to older ones?
Perhaps others who's skills are no longer needed could be put out to pasture.
Consider this: This could also be an attempt to put more people in "weaker" congreations and/or to spread Brooklyn's eyes and ears around a little more

Show me a happy JW and I'll show you a liar? Logic dictates that there would be people "happy" with their religion. Especially those in positions of authority. LOL
But in all seriousness, as other posters on previous threads have admitted there are many in the JW who are sincere and no doubt some of them would say they are happy.
I guess it all depends on how you define the word. There was about 3 years in which I would have said that I was happy to be a JW. At first it's exciting and for someone like me that likes facts/figures and to debate it was a great thrill ride.

also there are those that do come back who have never righted their wrong, but continue on with a bad heart and have a smug attitude.
and if this individual is "popular" w/the elders, are treated differently.
I know a family where the hubby ran off with the secretary and the wife was left to hold the bag. Yet she was the one who got most of the flack. Quite a few people were so downing her. I suspect they thought it may have been her fault that he wandered. She had a really hard time with some people but not all. She did have a lot of friends in the hall but it was rough going

I certainly feel better now that I have no contact with them althought i would be lying to say that I am "happy"
content may be a better word for me.
