Did you read this: How disfellowshipped family members should be treated.
by Ianua inin the appendix of the new "keep yourselves in god's love"-book i found the following statements regarding contact to ex-jw-family members:.
what if a relative is disfellowshipped?
in such a case, the close bond between family members can pose a real test of loyalty.

Excuse me, but isn't FAMILY FAMILY no mater where in the world they live?
Actually I have never held to that concept. Family is what you make it, not what you are born into. I have friends that are family to me whereas I do not consider my uncle to be a part of my family. .

Need Help, Hubbys Mad at Elders and I Need To Get Info for Him...
by cognac inhubbys brother is not baptised and faded.
another girl in the cong - same thing.. they just announced both of them as no longer bap't publishers.
from what i've been told, that's not just an announcement to just let the cong know they don't put in reports- it's like there d'fing them or marking them or something.. anyways, in order for elders to do that, they are supposed to at least attempt to meet with the person.

oh, and hubby's brother hasn't been going to the meetings IN OVER A YEAR!!! The other girl, it's been like, 2 years. I wonder what brought this on all of a sudden???
Good question. Me thinks this could be the beginning of a clampdown...to get rid of all the stragglers etc. We'll have to keep our eyes peeled to see if stuff like this starts happenign elsewhere

Society to start laminating paper backed publications
by Lady Zombie inat the wednesday night ministry school meeting, a letter from the society was read announcing that wtbts paperbacked publications will begin to be laminated.
according to the letter, this "will save approximately 2 million dollars per year," "lengthen the life of the publications," and "increase the attractiveness" of the publications.. so there's that.. .
also, will someone please explain to me why 85% of the congregation started smiling and nodding at this.. i sometimes think that headquarters could send the congregations boxes of turds and the jws would act like it was the best thing ever..

james_woods asked:
What I don't get is how laminating something that used to be just plain paperback is going to save 2,000,000 dollars a year?
That's a good question considering they went to paperback to save in the first place. The only reason I can think of is that the pubs are ordering more books cause they wear out quicker so if you fork out a little extra money to laminate and at the same time reduce your book orders by a significant percentage then it would be a saving cause the books cost more to produce than laminating them. I would suspect that as a previous posted noted that most pubs probably aren't donating enough to cover the actual costs so by extending the life they save money in the long run and given their volume of production I think the 2 million figure seems reasonable.

A grave contradiction?
by dark angle innotion: .
all mankind has sinned because our greatx4 grand father adam sinned.
sin is passed through generation.

I have always thought that God's statement to Adam (eat from this tree and you'll die) wasn't a threat or even a promise but rather a statement of fact. It seems to me that Adam was made so that once he fell short of the mark (sin) then that would produce very real physical symptoms that could not be covered up or ignored.
After all getting old and dying is a physical process
Yes, there is a contradiction with Deuteronomy 24:16 because we are being punished for the sin of our common father, Adam.

I should say yes but as we all know when it comes down to the crunch one never can tell how one is going to react. I can only say, that if it was necessary then I hope I would have the courage to die for my beliefs

I think the buildings are beautiful and fascinating. I tend to find beauty in oddities though and even in things others consider ugly. I'm weird like that.
Cog: I'm the same way. I love buildings and skyscrapers, some of which others call horrid.

Imagine the look on Frank Loyd Wright's face if he saw this
Imagine what Frank Lloyd Wright could build today with some of the material and technology we have to work with.
In fact a Saudi Prince wants to build Frank's Mile High Tower (originallt envisioned for Chicago) in Jeddah.
