codeblue is needing some major cheering up.
she's been hit very hard by some very difficult news recently, and i know it's been very hard for her these days.
Codeblue, we have never met however I'll extend my hopes that your hard time may soon be over.
When I'm feeling down it helps me to take a nice long walk..usually to some part of the city I've never been to or a street i've never been down. Somehow being out in the sun, seeing all the sights and colours relax me.

It's an environmental program and I don't see the conflict. In fact I do believe JW's have a good deal of respect for the environment and that their farms in New York and other places are very clean, as enviromentally friendly as they can make them and well run. Although I have never seen them I have heard stories and not just from JW's in this regard. In fact I remember being shown a JW vid once where the people from South America were mentioning how their religion had helped them to become cleaner people.
Cooperating with local officials on a matter like this is no violation of their "political neutrality"

I would actually take an article like this as a positive sign and don't forget that the article may not present the whole or true story of the situation. If you believe everything you read without question then ALL Canadians would live in igloo's and we all know that's NOT true.
i was doing some research on another topic and this scripural point kept coming up - jesus said "no one comes to me unless the father who sent me draws him" this word draw means to "entice" or "attract".
in light of this statement, does this mean we actually do not have free will to decide to serve christ?
for it says we cannot do so unless drawn by god.
There is no way we have frree will. If we did then I would use my will to fly like Superman. :-)
What we do have is freedom of choice which is what the verses quoted above allude to quite clearly.

While this is true it must also be said that you cannot believe everything you read. If you did then all Canadians would be living in igloo's and your parents would ALWAYS be right..Check out these claims:
- forbidden to read the Bible alone.
- forbidden to read a personal letter from a non-JW friend with a Bible verse in it.
These 2 claims are not true. They are urged not to study it alone but reading and studying are two different things and all JW's are encouraged to read the bible daily. And as for the last claim they offer no evidence in support of it. While they discuss tracts and religious material, even getting a letter from an apostate "For example, what will you do if you receive a letter or some literature, open it, and see right away that it is from an apostate?" there is no proof that a JW is forbidden to recieve a personal letter from a non JW friend with a bible verse in it.
I love the website www.breakthechain.org it has taught me to view everything on the internet with a critical eye (especially e-mail). In my opinion the authors of http://www.bible.ca/Jw-internet.htm need to clean up their act and present better, tighter arguements for thier case and especially to watch the wording.

i was having a discussion with a friend about quebec history, especially maurice duplessis and when the subject of his treatment of jw's came up i made mention of how he used the so called "padlock law" to prosecute them.
my friend denied this point and even pointed to a wikipedia article on the subject.

im interested in hearing what your personal reaction would be if (i say if because probably 99.9% here believe this will never happen) all the religions of the world were to be suddenly banned/shut down/decommissioned/liquidated/dismembered/etc.. by the political powers of the world.

I agree with V, the only way religon will ever die out is for religious tolerance to spread. This is what is happening right now before our very eyes.
If governments did ban it the resulting backlash...I don't want to think about it. People are so stupid and ignorant as it is so it wouldn't suprise me if one day someone actually tried it.
about 2 months ago my jw sister informed me that she had decided to disfellowship my wife and i. she used 1john 2:19 as a scriptural reference, and the sept.15,1981 watchtower article on disfellowshipping to support her charge.
my reply to her was quite lengthly, but i thought some at this site might be able to benefit from this part of my response.. in your letter to( wife) and i, you applyed 1john 2:19 to us and gave as a reference the following watchtower article to show us why you had decided that "i will treat you as a disfellowshipped persons", because "by deliberately rejecting the faith and beliefs of jehovah's witness" we are evidently guilty as paragraph 14 below of "renouncing his standing as a christian".

Hear hear!! Who ever heard of individuals disfellowshipping other individuals. That's an authority reserved for the elders. She's a usurper!!! A woman taking on authority that does not belong to her. I'm sure her elders would have something to say about that!!!

in our version of the qfr there is one passage that is worded somewhat "foggy".
i would like to see the original text and all i am interested is the paragraph that deals with anal and oral sex and has porneia-related subheading.
in finnish version it is the last paragraph on page 29.. i would appreciate a quotation of the original text in english.. mark.
why is oral sex perverted? I can understand the rationale for anal but not for oral
just a thought that i had at a book study about two weeks ago when the chapter about why god permits suffering from the 'bible teach' book was being covered.
in paragraphs 12 -14 the wts lays out this ridiculous arguement likening god to a teacher and satan as a student who is disrupting a class.
the wts says that much like how a teacher might invite a rebellious and disruptive student to instruct the class so as to prove the student wrong....jehovah has allowed satan to operate for a time in order to prove that satan's way is wrong.

OH COME ON!!!! Most teachers would dicipline the student and perhaps expell the student from the class. And even if the teacher did make such an invite most students would probably shrink from it
