Simon: Could you maybe look into putting up either a list of moderators for those who maybe don't know who they all are or perhaps a special thread under Forum Administration where you can go and post your concerns for the moderators (like an IT helpdesk kind of thing) and the only people who can read the posts are the moderators. That way if someone is in the situation of being abused or bullied on this board then they can call up that list or go to a thread and contact the moderators directly and quietly without having to ask in a post, start a post or by sending pm's.

Son sends "apostate" text message - Now the elders want to talk to him!!
by GoingGoingGone inmy 17 year old son told his dad that he didn't want to be a jw anymore about 8 months ago i think, and doesn't go to meetings or assemblies.
he's been accepted to one of the best universities in the country and will start this fall, with his dad's blessing.
their congregation had the summer convention this past weekend.

Although it is possible a well reasoned defense could do good in the end they are just looking to bully him into submission and they will likely turn a deaf ear. If I were you I'd do what another poster suggested and make them come to your son and make sure both parents are there the whole time, no exceptions. If they don't like it then they can go fly.
As for the claims that the elders have no authority...that would be true provided your son was never accepted as an unbaptized publisher. If he ever was then sadly yes they do have the authority to meet with him regarding this situation but again I stress...make sure both you and hubby are there the whole time and make them come to you.

No, actually I haven't. One time a former friend of mine did misinterpret what I had said but it wasn't a deliberate lie.
I didn't get to know about the past history of the WTS untill I was almost out so I can't actually say that while in I caught any of them in a lie though there were situations that were dodgy at times

$10 gas
by JimmyPage inmy father-in-law heard from someone who has connections with the higher-ups that the society thinks gas will be $10 a gallon in january.
i'm "bookmarking" that statement on my calendar.
if january comes around and gas isn't $10 i'm going to remind him of "what the society said".

I believe it could happen. Gas just hit 1.50 a litre in parts of Canada and there are just about 4 liters to the gallon so that's 6 bucks a gallon right there
I think if it gets much higher you'll see a government intervention cause people just can't afford it. All the big American airlines are grounding planes, it will start to impact tourism and truckers are already starting to talk about less trips or higher prices for everything. In Canada Parliment is already calling people to testify as to why oil is so high. I think you'll see government step in and force the price down somehow. They'll have to or face the wrath of voters with this being an election year in the US and Canada's minority government barely hanging on to power.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 06-08-08 WT Study (GUIDANCE)
by blondie ingod's guidance = only the guidance of the wts/fds/gb.
when, though, do we need that guidance?
god's guidance = wts/fds/gb guidance.

especially the elders, who are qualified to give personal help and Scriptural counsel. (lsa. 32:1)
Oh PULEASE...qualified my a**! Yes I'm sure so many people can attest to the wonderful help given by the elders. According to the official line prayerful consideration is supposed to be given before elders are appointed. If as they say Holy Spirit is supposed to help guide them in their choices then what does it say about said direction when elders go bad? If God really does know and see all both past and future then why would he allow such people attain responsibility for the "sheep"?
Now there's a question I'd love to raise at a WT study!

Blondie always does such a good job with these.
guidance from God = doing it the WTS way
So then did God guide the Mexican brothers to bribe their way out of military service while directing hundreds in Malawi to a course of action that lead to the death and abuse of so many. I wonder why God choose the ones in Malawi for that as opposed to Mexico...would the Mexicans have simply bribed their way out of such trouble thus failing to make a name for God thru the suffering of his people? How many JW's have suffered and died so their corporation can then sign up for UN membership? Not to mention the changes to blood et al
Interesting guidance n'est pas? Seems like the guide has trouble making up his mind. he used to be much more direct and forceful and not prone to such dithering. Maybe it's old age?

PS: reymont Franz was offerd a pension by the WT but he refused it.
Ummmmm??? ok, someone is living in Wolkenkuckkucksheim. The WTS wouldn't offer anything to someone it disfellowshipped, that's gotta be BS.
We can only hope that given time they'll see the real truth.

Should real JWs be allowed on YouTube?
by Prov1320 ini wouldn't be suprised if the society bans jws from surfing on youtube in the near future.
isn't it a very dangerous place for witnesses?
if you type in "jehovah's witnesses" or "watchtower", you are immediately flooded with "apostate" videos.

Oops...the kid who made the disfellowshipping justification should pull it quick before someone recognizes him.

Whatever playlist I feel like. Right now that includes songs as diverse as The Imperial March, You Spin Me Round, I Feel Love and Cocksucker Blues (a rare song by the Rolling Stones) and a G&T to wash it down. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
