I wish I could be that optimistic. The Watchtower mafia men are too arrogant to admit any wrongdoing and after reading this link:

it will take many court cases to even put a dent in their finances.
with all the recent failing legal issues the wts has been involved in, i'm starting to wonder if the wts is trying to do their own fading.
just think of it, the scarlet colored beast has attacked them (they run themselves broke), and armageddon is due any day.
this would be the perfect way for the wts to disappear from earth, including all the accusations, lawsuits, etc.

or do you enjoy any of these ones?.
I can't stand the show Friends and most of the reality shows.
first, let me start by saying i respect and honor the right of anyone to spread their message.
i do not descriminate against anyones church.
in the u.s. we are fortunate enough to enjoy that right.. that said, a jehovah's decided that the death of my father would be a good time to send a letter to my mother.
Coincidentally an employee of ours told us today that she received the same "recruitment" letter" this week too. Her husband passed away in February and she just got the letter. Her letter was handwritten and had no return address. Her letter was much more than a letter. It contained a Watchtower magazine and other literature. She found it very distasteful for them to do this. In a way, this could backfire on them. I would think that many other people (who know very little about JW's) would also find this offending and lose respect for the Jehovah's Witnesses.

judge: elders not required to report abuse .

It is disappointing, however, they are appealing the judgement to the State Supreme Court. The sisters have another chance and their lawyers now know what they are up against. Unfortunately, appeals take so long to be heard but better late than never.

i happened to have a conversation over aol im with an old friend of mine back in pa....she is the kind of girl who is going to college, watches r rated movies...basically puts herself first but is still very brainwashed.....i never really noticed this before but she kept talking about herself, even mentioned how much her (very small) condo is worth now....i found it very odd....i thought the paradise is right around the corner?
?
DIM,
It's funny you should mention this because my old friend (he hasn't talked to me in over a year) is a member of the other congregation that meets in your old hall. He is very poor. One time before I knew he was studying to be JW, he made a comment to me that the reason he like my boyfriend and myself is because we never treated him differently for being poor like his other "friends". For a poor person he was very materialistic and really wanted to make a lot of money so he could be "middle class." I figured out later on that it was probably the others in his hall who were the one putting him down. His sister, "the snob" is even worse.
all - of course i'm new to this board (or any board) and have an 'issue'.
my father and step-mother are both jw's and i know i can't argue with them.
however they're important to me and yet after a visit, i feel as if they are chipping away at my own spirit.
Hi Zoew,
Here is some more advice. The JW's are considered a cult and there are a few good web sites on cults you may want to check out. www.freedomofmind.com and www.rickross.com are two of my favorite. If you learn about the mindset of a mind controling group such as the Jehovah's Witnesses it may help you when you visit the family. Steven Hassan from Freedom of Mind also has a great book about cults called Releasing The Bonds. That book helped me.
everyone thinks they have a friend or even many friends.
have you ever come to know that your "friend" was really no friend after all?
what happened??
It was the friend that brought me to this web site that really hurt me. I started researching the JW's when I found out he was studying and my research led me to this discussion forum.
He is a JW, I'm not. Before his baptism he lived a very normal and worldly life. He grew up in a poor household with lots of problems. I helped out his family anyway I could by giving them support (emotional and financial), being there when they needn't someone, and helping them with opportunity. I did this sincerely because they were such nice kind-hearted people who deserved success and freedom. I showed him true love and kindness, not the phony love the JW's give. Right after his baptism, the elders told him to stay away from me because I asked him some questions about old WT publications. After everything I had done for him and his family, he broke all ties with no explanation. He didn't return phone calls or answer letters.
The ex-JW's on this site probably understand why he did this but it left me feeling hurt, used and betrayed.
I hope someday he takes the blinders off his eyes and realizes what a terrible friend he was.
based upon your knowledge and experience, what would you say is "the greatest story ever told"?
