OpenFireGlass, You ever stop about 20 feet in front of a stopsign, and creap towards it... You ever sit outside a 7-11 and know you can't go inside to buy that bad of doritos because you are laughing hysterically? I will admit, laughter is the best medicine! I have had my share of giggles!

Cannabis vs Alchohol and Other Man Made Pharmacuticals
by OpenFireGlass inwell for starters i do have a prescription for cannabis (insomnia / depression).... why would i want to take pharmacuticals for insomnia/depression?
i mean, what if i get prescribed/addicted to a pill, that one day i might not be able to afford?
(if you/i grow cannabis it's more/less free)... now the moral issue... who is more likely to beat the shit out of their kids?

Natural occuring substances: Ergot of Rye is best known as the source from which Lysergic Acid Diethyamide (=LSD). Arsenic is also a natural occuring substance. Hey, you want to stay buzzed, go for it. In a "survival of the fittest" world, you may be easy pickings some day, though I guess you have guns, because in my experience, you are probably paranoid. No offense...

I think Darcy is a good example of the "dont ask, don't tell" policy that may work in the JW's. Her positive attitude is quite admirable. I also wonder if most of the ex-JW's here are ex-JW's because they got their hand caught in the cookie jar (Sex), and got DF'd, and later did research and decided the Org was broken. No one can dispute the history of the Org is filled with mistakes, as is the case with all religions.

My exposure to the web has shown they are one of the few religions that are really "No part of this world". Their neutral political stance to me is seductive. The only other religion I can think of that is as neutral are the Amish.
How many of you ex-JW's would go to war and kill for the USA? -

Maybe she was just "faking" interest in the meetings before. Some women have a lot going on below the surface, and hide it to keep peace. They keep it secret. Any of you women keep secrets from your husband?

Let cut JWs some slack on Christ's status. They might be right.
by Spectrum inthe alternative light i have received regarding early christianity has made me wonder whether jws have unwittingly got it right regarding the status of jesus.
a lot of strong criticism is made on this forum about jws sidelining of jesus in preference for jehovah the jewish god.
they have been equated with judaism because of their lack of inclusion of christ in their worship as well as their draconian code of expected conduct.

When the bible says all things were created "through" Jesus, what does it mean and why? Sounds to me like Jesus was some sort of tool or interface for God. Mans puny little brain: Man presently does not understand the substance of gravity. He can only measure it. Einstein implied gravity is a warping of spacetime. The connections between gravity, space and time are not something humans can get minds around easily, for now. Just as man has peered into the atom, I believe there is a possibilty someday there will be men who understand truths regarding time, space, and gravity. Not just measuring it, but understanding the substance of it, what it is. If God has always been, does it not make sense that he resides outside of the "universe", where time is just another physical property like gravity?

How about some metaphysical thought. God was not created. He exists outside of time and space. No one can see god and live. Jesus was created as a physical interface into a universe with physical laws such as time. He is Gods tool for creation and communication. When it came time to create this universe, God first created his tool, Jesus.
