Dateline predators will NOT be prosecuted

murphy, texas a sting in which police teamed up with "dateline nbc" to catch online pedophiles was supposed to send a flinty-eyed, texas-style warning about this dallas suburb: don't mess with murphy.. instead, it has turned into a fiasco.. one of the 25 men caught in the sting a prosecutor from a neighboring county committed suicide when police came to arrest him.
the murphy city manager who approved the operation lost his job in the ensuing furor.. and the district attorney is refusing to prosecute any of the men, saying many of the cases were tainted by the involvement of amateurs.. "certainly these people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but the fact that this was all done for television cameras raises some questions," said mayor bret baldwin.. it is the first time in nine "dateline nbc: to catch a predator" stings across the country in the past year and a half that prosecutors did not pursue charges.. "dateline" has made prime-time entertainment out of contacting would-be child molesters over the internet, luring them to a meeting place, and videotaping their humiliating confrontations with reporter chris hansen.. Exactly. Too many guilty people get their cases thrown out of court because of this sort of thing. What's the point in having them arrested if they just get let off?
You can't be meticulous enough as a police officer for a good defense lawyer to find this or that technicallity can you? That just show's you how ridiculous and doddering the Justice System can get, I didn't get read my rights, so I don't have to spend any time in prison for that double homicide I committed.
I was saying it more reactionary, not actually suggesting that course of action. I would like to stick my middle finger up to many of the bureaucratic nonfunctioning and nonproductive legalise bullsh*t.
Technicalities Schmecknicalities. You do the crime, how can the Justice system JUSTIFY you not doing the time? -

everyone should care. When the authorities start ignoring the laws EVERYONE is in danger. Are these perverts deserving of everything that they get UNDER THE LAW? Absolutely! But it must be done WITHIN THE LAW!
Ok mkr I see your point. I just think that the law is so unbendy and so overwhelming in a way that doesn't allow for individual circumstances. I feel passionate about it as you might have noticed. Practically of course there's has to be oodles and oodles of procedures and rules to make sure everyone behaves. Ideally for me, it'd just be common sense to go after someone who would brutalize a child by ANY means necessary. Without having to worry about rights of other people in other circumstances being compromised. Wouldn't it be sweet. -

"If professionals had been running the show, they would have done a much better job rather than being at the beck and call of outsiders."
In every show I've seen except the first, the police were involved from start to finish, making the arrest right at the house. It's just all political b.s. let's get justice not wax and moan about procedure this and that.
The police departments around the country clearly aren't putting forward a worthwhile effort. Entrapment? How else are you supposed to get pervs trolling online intent on raping children then to pose as one? Hope that one of them gets the address wrong, lands at a police station instead and turns in his chat log? It's a straightforward way. Or should we just wait until the actual 12 year old child gets sexually tortured by a fifty six year old trucker, and perhaps reports it?

I say those shows are not only informative, you don't wanna believe you live in a world where this happens, but this is a big wake up call for parents. The show has provided good evidence for parents to educate and monitor their children. The shame factor by being broadcast on National television is also terrific, not only for the fact that those men's dirty ass selves will be humiliated to a greater degree, but it has probably been a deterent (although lots of idiots on the shows will say they'd seen a TCAP) to pervs trying to set up a meeting to assault and abuse a minor. So cheers to that. I think it's fantastic.
If you go on pervertedjustice you can read the chatlogs yourself, it's beyond evil. One in particular was extremely chilling. Thank God that deranged psychopath was chatting with a decoy and not an actual child. -

I've been studying with JW's for a few months..
by MichaelM ini've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.
i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .
but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

I've seen a few things that almost hint to a trinity, but mostly Jesus shows that hes a completely different person than god and is unknowing as to certain things god knows.. asking him for help, being lower than him, like the mediator in between.

grrr... like you said, you were just reading the WT, and yes, their Bible is skewed for their doctrine. For example, in Colossians adding the "he (Jesus) created all [OTHER] things" there is absolutely ZERO justification for this in the Greek. None.
If you want to believe in the Bible, I would suggest you read a Bible that is not printed by the WT, and without "their interpretation" even though they say they are the only ones who can understand the "deeper things" pfft.
Pick up a copy of Ray Franz book "Crisis of Conscience" immediately! Please!

How Do You Handle Compliments?
by smellsgood intoday i was followed around, complimented extensively and asked out by a guy at wal-mart (they have good prices on cake),,,i sort of felt like bolting, i felt extremely embarassed (and said as much) even though i was flattered.
it's nice to be complimented, at the same time i'm all giggly and squirmy,,, like they're telling me that i've got a head shaped like a walnut rather than...whatever.
do you take compliments well?
