  mrs ozzie prepared the lunch and i made the drinks!

  our visitors were baptist folk, so there was no shiraz today, out of respect for their sensibilities!

  we enjoyed our conversation about dateline/panorama/sunday and they are taking a tape of the sunday program to various church groups in the south of sydney.

  Are we obligated to JW family?

  while reading through and posting in unbeliever's thread, this topic came to mind.

  personally i do not have any sense of obligation to jw family that still holds to such dogma.

  that means it doesn't matter to me that my mother ignores her grandson; and her great-grandchildren.

  Oh yea I have more. They WILL miss out. On everything important. They will miss out on graduations . They will miss out on weddings. They will miss out on the birth of their children. They will miss out on the phone calls and the visits that they will not get paid. I don't care what anyone of them say. They WILL miss these things. If they say they won't they are lying. I could never imagine doing that or missing out on all that with my own children. I get upset now when my daughter has some activity at school and she dosen't tell me about it. Its there loss. To damn bad!!!!

  Kinda early in the morning to have such wise and serious matters weighing on your mind. But I agree with you 100%. My mother is just like that. Not going to see her grandkids because my brother and his wife don't attend meetings. Thats crazy. Ignoring them because of a descision that there parents made. She only sees mine because my wife still goes and I go on occasion. My daughter would be devastated if her grandmother stopped coming around. And how do you explain that to a child. Why the persons house we go over to eat every Sunday the person that takes you to the store to buy you anything you want your babysitter when school is out. The person that comes to get you just because.....Is no longer coming around. My daughter would be screwed up for life. This is one crazy religion

  Most ridiculous statements from the JW stage?

  we have all sat at jw meetings and heard some ridiculous statements that were either shocking or just plain old bunk.

  usually it is the same jw individuals that make those statements time and time again.

  you know the type..... you can almost expect such comments from them.. jws place great importance on what statements or persons are 'stage worthy'.

  We actually had a brother make the claim that we might be able to live on the moon in the New System. Thats right on the moon. Now here I am devoting my life to this org so I can live forever on EARTh and this nut case tells me we might even live on the moon. LUDACRIS!!

  Has is been a year already. Its seems like only yesterday that Randy gave me your e-mail addy and said talk to you because we were going through the samething. Now its a year later and you are out and traveling the world and I'm still trying to slow fade. When I grow up I wanna be just like you!!!

  Always Comparing us to Others

  the bible says that we shouldn't compare ourselves with other people either physically or spiritually.

  some would produce 5 to 1, and others 2 to 1. .

  but why is it that the elders always tried to compare us to other witnesses?

  I agree whole heartedly. The Elders and my pioneer mother always compare me to someone in the Hall who is doing so good. My mother will say I look at Brother Jones who is the same age as you giving the public talk and then I think about you doing nothing. Or an Elder will say you know Brother Smith is in the same situation as you and he makes all the meetings.

  But as soon as Brother Smith or Jones ends up being a wife beater or fooling around on his wife. Or gets DF'd for something. Then he becomes imperfect man.

  If You Weren't A Witness, What Would You Be Today?

  many of us are or were witnesses because we were born into the religion.

  others became witnesses because they really thought it was the truth.

  so many wish that they never had a jehovah's witness come to their door or their parents' door.

  First of all I would not go to any church or be affiliated with any religion. I'm one of those that doesn't need a religion to be fullfilled.

  Also I would probably be making alot of money in the music industry either as a record promoter or radio announcer as I gave up both of those jobs to be a dub.

  i haven't been to one in the last 1 and a half yrs.

  Hey Minimus,

  The same experience was related at the assembly I just attended. But the brother put a different spin on the story. He stopped the story at the part where the brother said let Jehovah take care of it. Then the brother said Jehovah took care of it. Took a long pause and said if you want to know how see me after the meeting. Even he knew that would not be cool to tell the rest of the story.
