Researching an artist...anyone know how?
by coffee_black inmy daughter used to own a small antique business.
someone in her town was going to demolish an old house, and ali was given the chance to take the remaining items before the demolition.
among the remaining items was a stack of perhaps a dozen or more original pastels.

Hmm, with a nickname like Vag, I mean VaJ.
Makes you wonder...
A friend of mine deals with that sort of thing, she has access to auction records and such, I'll ask her if she'll check out the name.

Do you prefer many people or few people to live with you?

I enjoy people the most in small groups or one on one.
Any more then 6 or 7 and I want to run and find a cave to hide in and have some alone time.

Attending my mum's JW wedding
by iMARX inso i have to go to my mum's jw wedding in 2 weeks.
it's not in a kh but there's still going to be about 40 jws there.
apparently it's "widely-known" that i'm gay and some jws have even told my mum that it's not wise to invite me because it will make other people (jws) feel uncomfortable.

If they know you are worldly and gay they will expect you to behave badly, that's what worldly people do.
Give them the shock of their lives and be a nice wordly gay person, on some level it will surprise them to no end.
I remember an uber dub friend of mine that over the years had several casual worldly friends that were gay.
She never ceased to be surprised at what nice normal people they were and she would comment on it frequently.

Jehovah does not live by his own rules
by sinis ini find it mind numbing that jw's and religios in particular never see this.
jehovah is the patron god of the jews.
yet he treats them like utter shit, worse than slaves.

sinis. You sound like an atheist. I've been hanging out with a lot of them lately and a lot of them are ANGRY with the God of the Bible. They just can't get over the politics.
Impossible, you can't be angry at something you believe is non existent.
I'm not pissed at Santa for never bringing me presents, I know he does not exist.
If I'm mad at not getting presents, I would have to be mad at my parents.

My JW husband exited about three months before I did.
In a way it gave me permission to leave too. It was something i never even considered before.
But after he did it, I realized that it was an option that I had too, so i took it.
How sheep like is that? I could not even see the open gate until I saw another sheep walk through it.

Did any of you study the WT lesson throughly without ANY underlining?
by asilentone injust wondering.
it makes me think whoever underlines the wt without going throughly is purely hypocritical.

When they started to insist that you answer only from the paragraph, that's when I stopped raising my hand, it was just so demeaning and insulting to our intelligence.
WTF?!?! When did that shit start?
They use to encourage you to eloborate and put thought into your answers.
Then sometime in the 80's they began insisting that you answer only from the paragraph, they only wanted you to parrot.

Frustrated with the JW in law sitch
by bluesapphire inso my husband rarely talks to his sister and never talks to his mom.
his sister, brother in law and mom will have nothing to do with me because 10 years ago when i left the jws they heard rummors (gossip) that i was apostate.. husband is totally apostate too by their standards but they ignore what they don't want to see.
he celebrates all the holidays, goes to church, celebrates birthdays and bad mouths the wts all the time.. well sister in law calls this morning and he is on the phone with her for one hour.

I think I understand where your coming from, I agree, he's not standing up for you..
but, dahum, I don't think I would ever call my husband weak, I mean, it's just so cold and cutting.
It doesn't seem productive at all.

I also rarely commented because I found it insulting to my intelligence to recite a sentence or concept that we just read without any thought or personal slant on things.
