how do you deal with jw relatives who say; "can i just ask you one thing?".
seems obvious that you'd willingly answer their question right?
i mean, it's good that they're asking questions, maybe they're waking up and it might start them on their journey out of the wt.. but.. i've got one real hardcore jw sibling.
Be a broken record, keep saying. "No, I can't answer any questions, I do not have freedom of speech"
If they act really dense and want to know why, explain very briefly, and very calmly, why the JWs don't have freedom of speech, refuse to go into much detail other then "I learned my lesson last time I answered a JWs question"
I did this for a while with good results, it shut my JW's right up. I also believe it got them to think, just a little bit
i don't know if this is going to make sense to anyone, but here goes.. okay so according the jw elders in my hall "we can't say for sure whether or not certain people will die at armageddon.
" however, we know the jw stance is really "if you aren't a jw, you are doomed.
" but apparently these elders said that wasn't the case.

Also, sense all the dead will be resurrected, it would be loving and merciful to kill as many non JWs as possible.

not preaching to them, or killing them.
well, it was a nice morning to take my dog for a walk and about a mile from my home i met a car load of jws working the condos.
two brothers hit on me before they went back to their car.
apparently they hadn't been able to talk to anyone this morning -10:30am, so they were eager to find a stooge who would listen to them.. i immediately decided i wouldn't talk about their doctrine, so i jumped on the flood of noah after they got the intros out of the way.
Moshe, your the type of call that I hated getting out in service, you could so easily rip us to shreds and we had to limp back to our car group and lick our wounds and be reassured by the others that we are right and you are wrong and your gonna find out at armegeddon.
But your also the type of call that I would never forget. In my 30 some years of knocking on doors, there is a handful of people that I wont forget. And I wish I could find them again and thank them for taking the time to call BS, when they saw BS.
It took decades...but they got me to think.

however, protection is only partial; the promotion of safe sex practices is also important," dr. maria wawer and colleagues at johns hopkins university in baltimore wrote.. wawer's team piggybacked the hpv study onto a larger study that has shown circumcised men are less likely to be infected with the human immunodeficiency virus that causes aids.. "we enrolled hiv-negative men and their female partners between 2003 and 2006, in rakai, uganda," they wrote in their report in the lancet medical journal.. they were able to get details on hpv infections for nearly 1,000 of the women, all identified by men as long-term sex partners such as wives.

While I was exiting the JW's and still very confused, I was at a busy diner having breakfast with a friend when an elderly couple came in, assisting an even more elderly couple, there were no more tables available.
I thought to myself, "if the people here were witnesses, someone would give up there table for those old folks". This thought no sooner intered my mind when simultaneously, people from four different tables jumped up, and offered there table to the newcomers, at the same time the friend I was with asked me "would you mind giving those people our table?".
I was stunned, while I sat there thinking the JW's were superior, and did nothing, all those worldly people were actually doing something.

Fark your mother was an abuser and you were abused, you made that evident in the first part of your story. One thing I have learned is there will always be a certain amount of people who blame the abused, and not the abuser, it never fails.
That's why abuse victims tend not to speak up, because there will always be someone there to pick it apart and point the finger back at them, and it can be pretty devastating.
If you don't want to tell any more of your story then don't, but please take note of the number of people begging for more and the number of people who criticize, it's pretty uneven.
i haven't always understood how christ could have carried our sins for us, and had them forgiven.
i've sort of understood because that's what people say he did, but the ransom (in a legalistic adam/jesus way) never held weight for me.
but something recently happened that allowed me to understand.
An the love of our fellow humans compels us towards love, compassion, and tolerence.
This is simple human nature, no belief in a supernatural being is necessary, no comandments necessary.
It's simple human love and compassion.
Tec, I firmly believe that you would be just as loving and compassionate even if you were agnostic.
I did not stop being loving and comapasionate when I stopped believing in god. I actually feel more responsibilty to my fellow human now then when I believed there was a higher power that had everything under control.
has anyone ever worried about confessing something to the elders, only to find that they spend the next 25 years worrying that if those elders in 'the know' leave the organisation or get disfellowshipped, maybe they couldn't care less about making your misdemeanor public knowledge.
"if i'm going down, i'll take everyone i can with me".. i still worry about this scenario, and even though two of the elders in my case have died of old age, i will only feel really relieved once the last one does.. maybe current elders blab about the congregation members too.
i sincerely hope they would be too scared to do this in case there is an official complaint made against them for defamation of character and breaking a fellow believers confidence..
Some elders can keep theirs mouths shut and some cannot. It has little to do with wether they leave the troof or not.
In my old hall (and the surrounding halls) gossip was rampant. If someone was DFd, everyone knew the reasons why, the juicier the info, the faster it spread.
If the elders in your JC have kept confidentiality so far, I wouldn't worry about it

In the early 70's there was an extended Cuban family in our hall in Portland OR. They had recently been "exiled", or "escaped" or something like that, but I was a little kid so Im not sure what the real story was.
I remember the cuban sisters always had cleavage, and not just a peek, we are talkin deep cleavage. I was pretty mesmerized as I had never seen anything like it.
