The last assembly i attended, I sat there in disgust and pondered how many would "drink the koolaid".
At the time, I believed at least 50% would do so.
They could use the story of Abraham being told by god to kill Isaac. I think that would be a good clincher.
A few years prior to that last assembly, I would have happily drank the koolaid, and given it to my children

Why would God speak in symbols if he really wanted us to understand?
by rebel8 inif i was a deity and wanted people to know "the truth", i would just say it in plain language instead of veiling everything in symbolism, innuendo, and vague hints.
what does that method of communication accomplish?.
if i remember correctly, the borg answer to that is this method of communicating tricks the bad people but the good people can figure it out just fine.

I have sometimes thought that if I ever run my own company or organisation, it might be quite fun to form the organisation rules and/or employee contracts in pseudo-biblical symbolic language. Then I could have fun visiting the people with various pestillences and smitings if they failed to comply with the ambiguous/unintelligable rules.

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs

i had two lamps on a floor lamp in my living room.
that, and the windows is my only source of lighting in here.

CFL's are longer then regular bulbs and they don't fit into any of the fixtures in my house.
I've used them in my old house though, and i love how long they last.
I prefer the blue tone ones too, but they are hard to find.

How Clean is your House?

i just love this show.. kim and aggie run into some pretty disturbing homes i must admit.
i am certainly not on the list of the most disgusting homes but, dont have the most organized house on the street..... i like cleanliness in all parts of my home( cat litter empted, dishes cleaned, bathroom area very sanitary, floors cleaned, carpets vacuumed, garbage emptied if full, candles burning, the furniture and carpet deodorized daily, the dog has to be bathed regular, ash trays dumped and cleaned every time i finish smoking in the back room, and finally, the supper dishes must be done before i go to bed... i could not give two sh*ts if the bed did not get made properly, the kids room has dirty laundry on it or all their junk, they dont have their beds made every day, the computer desk has bills/papers lying on it, the cats/dogs food runs out of dish, there is a cob web up in the corner of the living room, ( thats a great decoration for this time of the year anyways...lol) the wires are showing from the t.v and dvd player, there are a few pairs of shoes at the door at not put away on the shoe rack, there is a coat on the back of a chair instead of hung up, and the pillows and blankets are scattered all over the couch for comfort (at night only, not during the day unless it is the weekend).

The pic Honesty posted looks like my familys house when i was growing up, most people would not believe the amount of filth me and my siblings were raised in.
It was a horrible existance, I'm sure it must be some kind of emotional disorder that makes people live like that, but I cannot understand why my parents lived that way.
Nowadays, as an adult, i like a spotless house, but my house always falls short of my standards, I'm finally at an age that it doesn't bother me so much.

do you know if they made any changes to those reprints, or were they exact duplicates?.

Thanks Tweety, I did not know that, what a sleazy thing for the org to do, like they couldn't snap their own sunset picture!
However, I was wondering if anyone knows of changes between the older bound volumns (50's, 60's etc) and the bound volumns reprinted and offered a second time in the early eighties I believe. These bound volumns looked slighly different then the originals, they had white end papers instead of the red that they use to use, and the texture of the cover is slighltly different.
Anyone know?
