  Sinning against the Holy Spirit - Unforgivable? How does one commit it?

  i seem to remember a doctrine that says that the only sin that is unforgivable is a sin against the holy spirit.

  is apostasy a sin against the holy spirit?

  The society has never been clear on this, they only hint at what sinning against the holy spirit might be.

  I remember having this discussion with a couple of pioneer sisters, after receiving a QFR asking "how does one sin against the holy spirit?". After reading the article, we couldn't figure out what the answer was. We went to an elder and asked him "How do you sin against the holy spirit?" He pointed to the article and said the answer is right here. We said that we had studied the article but still did not know the answer and maybe he could show us wich paragraph it was in. He said you have to read it for yourself.

  I now realize the elder didn't know the answere either, but wouldn't say so. He just kept treating us like children who hadn't done their homework................ what an asshole.

  Here in the US we bring our lettuce and other green leafy vegies home form the market in a plastic bag. When you get home, wrap the lettuce in one or two paper towels and then put them back in the plastic bag to store in the fridge. they will last for weeks this way, no more slimy vegies after a few days!

  cross your fingers for me

  as some of you know but others don't i have been suffering from nerve pain in my feet for the last 4 years.

  the pain has put me in a wheelchair and the medications have been less than promising.

  it helped destroy my second marriage and put me on disability.

  what to do? Grandson being beaten by JW stepmother

  this needs a new topic because now i have the step mother hitting my grandson on his penis.

  so i have reported this and social services are calling our eight year old grandson a liar.

  they told the maternal grandmother not to ask questions about the weekend visits with his dad.

  several years ago my brother-in-law (who is also a reformed jw fader) helped us move back to oklahoma.

  while we were taking apart furniture prior to the move we were using my drill and 75 foot extension cord.

  At an assembly this unmarried MS came up to tell me that he could see down my dress when i bent over to get a drink of water. I told him that he should go tell my husband that he was looking down my dress, and let him decide what to do.

  I noticed that this zealous brother, hung out a lot at the water fountains.

  Has anyone found dating as an EX JW difficult?

  just curious as to what difficulties have faced people dating as an ex jw.

  myself, i have noticed the glazed over look in a guy's eyes when you try to explain why your family doesn't celebrate the holidays with you etc.

  new to this board, so if this has been well covered before, please forgive me.

  I have not had success with saying this. People then wnat to know which cult they are in. When i say JW, they are usually confused and want to know why I call them a cult.

  There is just no easy way to explain it. I think the above poster saying it's kind of like being Amish, is the one I am going to try next.

  BTW, Men on the outside treated me so much better then any JW man ever has. I never had a JW man treat me with the leval of respect that I received form worldly men.

  Now if I ask "Where have you been until 3:30 am?" I'm supposed to accept his answer, "Out and about."

  And you know what? For a long time it mattered to me how and why this had happened.

  Initailly when my ex would stay out late I would wait up for him, all the time praying and fearing he was in a ditch somewhere.

  As the years went by this evolved into wishing he was in a ditch somewhere, that's when I knew it was time to get out.

  Work Contest unburies pain

  i'm a grown woman and should be able to deal with these things in a more constructive way.

  and yet here i am... my job is doing a contest...bring in your prom photo and the neatest one will win a really cool prize (it's a weekly celebration for back-to-school around here - i'm in the newspaper business.

  So you didn't tell her that JW's don't have parties either?

  I think you can go two ways with this, you can bring in what highschoold memorabilia you have. as little as that may be.

  Or you can turn it into the comedy of farces that it was. Bring in pics of you all dressed up at an assembly. Maybe you can find some old mags that you would have been peddling out in services at the time, and bring those in too. Show your workmates what the JW's were teaching and promoting at the time. And best of all, bring in the youth book, and let everyone have a big laugh over it.

  The youth book would probably be more intertaining then all the other prom pics put together.

  i think i found where they put all their lawyers, they go on the service desk to spin tales of deceit and half-truth.

  so i call up to voice my displeasure with having been asked to distribute "the end of false religion" when the wt already knew that it was ridden with molestors yet called itself "clean".
