  Were You Skeptical of "the Annointed Ones" in Your Congregation?

  sorry in advance to all of the ones on this forum now, who partook while jw.

  i have to say that in my experience, having known personally several who were "of the annointed", most were absolutely dingy.

  the only exception was the little ancient gal who had attended the early convention where all attendees were "annointed" en masse!

  Lat hall I was in we had one anointed brother, not and elder or an MS, not even honored with mic duties.

  he was in his mid fifties and wanted a teen bride. We had an 18 year old pioneer sister that he kept harassing, She would lock herself in her car to get away from him and he would be knocking on the window asking her to marry him.

  he stopped harassing her when she got older. But by then we had another younger teen pioneer for him to pursue

  I've also learned recently that my stepfather is of the annointed. He is a lazy slob that could never hold a job, he's a lier and a child molester, one of the worst pieces of crap I have ever had the displeasure to meet. I could go on and on about him.

  okay - for the last hour 2 friends and i have been sitting and talking business.

  it started out as a joke on how we could digitise magazine and download them into a very real business idea re: the soccer world cup happening here in 2010.. it is a brilliant idea, which i will share in completion once we have registered / patented it so that it can't be stolen.

  plus plus we can use it to uplift previously disadvantaged people, the only thing is they may not be able to cope with the demand - how awesome is that - i'm going to be helping people make a living - wow - skipping with happiness.. i haven't been this excited for a looooooooooooooooong time - i really do feel like my brain could pop with all the ideas - the thing is ... it's so so doable.

  I've recently had a big idea too, I'm pretty excited about it.

  I won;t make a million, but I do think it will be a good second or eventually primary income.

  3 a.m. - my wife is in tears! What do I do?

  well my situation has developed a bit, any advice appreciated.. their has been a gradual building up of pressure ever since i stood down as an elder about 6 months ago.. i have been telling my wife about my doubts but have continued to attend "some" meetings.. as time has progressed i have become more open with my criticism of the org.. i mentioned the un scandal, molestation trials, false prophecy ect etc.. interestingly she does not deny these facts and yet still wants to continue as a jw.. i told her that god is not happy with people knowingly being part of a false prophet (deut 18 - etc) - starting to lay the groundwork for my exit.. she appreciates the difficult situation doubters are in - they cannot openly express their feelings for fear of jcs.. anyway, a few weeks ago we moved house which meant changing congregation.. but i felt it would be best if i did not attend meetings " at all" at the new cong so my fade could be easier.. but i could not have predicted my wifes response - when i told her it was an explosion of emotion, i mean real heartbreaker stuff.. she seems depressed at the prospect, perhaps the reality is finally hitting home.. last night, about 3a.m.

  i noticed that she was not in bed.

  i went downstairs and she was sobbing away to herself.. "i can't go to that hall myself!

  Shes crying because she can't go alone?

  Sounds to me that maybe she is ready to give it up too, but is still battling with some cult indoctrination.

  My husband left about three months before i did. When he left i went into super dub overdrive. I got busy with all kinds of theocratic activities. Anything to quite those nagging voices in my head!

  I got love-bonbed at the hall, for the first time in my life. It felt wonderful for about five minutes, and then it disgusted me. All I could see was the hypocrisy. I tried so hard to keep believing, but I just couldn't.

  From what you said, i get the impression that your wife is in the same place I was.

  Whole day ruined because it's a meeting night?

  at some point nearly every day of the week was soiled by the prospect of some 'spiritual' activity.

  it took me years of inactivity before i started seeing tuesdays and thursdays as enjoyable, without a shadow hanging over them.

  wednesday was always my favorite day of the week.. .

  I've been out for over 10 years now.

  But still, at least once a week, while making plans for the day I will briefly think "is this a meeting night?"

  It only happens for a second, but then I feel a wonderful feeling of relief knowing it will never be a meeting night again.

  why do they say every one of them all over the world believes the same thing, but then they'll say that they personally don't believe a particular aspect of the doctrine?

  for instance, my dubsband doesn't necessarily believe i'll die at the big a.

  Why do they brag about unity when it is not voluntary, but forced?

  If you do as I say your part of my club and i have 100% unity among my members.

  If you don't do as I say.........then your out of the club...........and see, I have 100% unity!

  I'd be a great movie critic, ask anyone in my family.

  I should have studied Anthropology, that fascinates me more and more.

  Maybe I'll take one college class at a time and get my degree in my eighties.

  Do You Believe in Sanctuary Cities?

  san francisco is just one of many sanctuary cities in this country.

  as a permanent residence to the usa having had to go through immigration meetings, medical tests, means tests and a pretty good dose of fear - it bothers me that the same city that i had to go to for my hearing, past armed guards to prove my worth, wants illegals to come out of the woodwork and take advantage of the services the city has to offer, with a promise that they won't be rounded up or harmed in any way.

  i don't seem to understand this system at all - i feel penalized somehow for doing what was right yet, i can still feel badly for those who are scared while here illegally.

  As a Witness Teenager - Did you Sneak Around ? Comical / Serious tales !

  as you all know i was raised in a very prominent witness family in california .

  dad was , and still is an elder since 1953 !

  in my youth in the 1970's i did my share of sneaking around / yes, although being an elders son!

  You guys have balls. I alwasy thought that 99.99% of the dubs were just like me true believers and always afraid of offending jehovah.

  I was constantly chaperoned and constantly accused of sneaking around. How could I? I was never alone!

  I recall in the early 90's a prominant elder in our hall telling us how, when he was a teenager, him and his girlfriend were

  accused of fornication, and brought before the elders.

  While the elders were deliberating, he and his girl did it in the car in the parking lot.

  I wasn't so surprised by the story, what really surprised me was the way he told it, he was bragging about it!

  Just another item added to my cognitive dissonance list.....

  how many people hear that from the a$$emblies?

  the funny thing, if we kept following the advice, the "more than the usual" would become the usual.

  and there is only so much attention one can pay to the topic at hand.. and especially when it is the same crap you have heard every year since you were two.

  i was not raised in the cult.

  i lived across the street from a county group home that housed 10-12 teen-age boys at any one time.

  i was 14 and in heaven.

  It was on my aunts front porch, he kissed me on the cheek , for the next 24 hours i felt like i was floating, it was the most amazing feeling.

  I never saw him again but heard years later that he had died of aids, in the early 80's, he was gay.

  A few years later I married a closeted gay JW.

  Is there a lot of gay folks around, or is it just me??
