Why is sex suddenly pure and holy after you receive a marriage certificate?

if a witness couple who are engaged to one another, decide to express their love toward each other by engaging in sexual intercourse just weeks or even days before they're officially married, they are considered to be loathsome, unclean people.

the witness girl would be seen by others in the hall as a dirty little whore...and the guy would just be thought of as a horny young man who couldn't keep it in his pants.

my mom would turn away in horror, cringe, and change the channel. She would be repulsed by it, and say that people are "such pigs" and that it's disgusting that they have sex with someone they're not married to.

I knew JW women like that too, it is crazy. The wife of a couple we use to hang out with a lot would act all disgusted about anything other then the slightest of kisses. I always felt sorry for her husband, .............well her too actually.

Instilling guilt, fear and shame makes people easier to control.

Were There/Are There A Number Of Gays At Bethel?

i remember the "boy's club" mentality from many of the bethelites in the 70's and 80's.

it seemed there were a number of males who were "effeminate" back in the day.. i knew of one guy that was told by the bethel brass that he would "go places" at headquarters if he could learn to deepen his voice and tone down his gestures a bit (and he was told it wouldn't hurt if he ever married a fellow bethelite sister).

this man was extensively used at conventions, became less "gay looking" and got married.. so my question is, did you see effeminate men in bethel?

I have a family memeber that went to Bethel and after a while was sent back home.

The reason given was that he knew about homosexual activities but did not report them, this would have been in the early to mid 60's.

its frustrating when they give you so little info.

Did the brothers know that the other existed? If not, why not?

Apparently they both knew who their Daddy was, so what happened?

Jehovahs Witness Suicides

im noticing that alot of witnesses commit suicide.

one sister i knew a few yrs back, in her early 40's, was having marriage problems in the hall for yrs and everyone knew it.

they only told her to rely on jehovah and asked the elders for guidance.

Many JWs who commit suicide do so after being DFd. At that time they are no longer JWs, so the reason given for their actions is that "they left Jehovah". So the society and elders alike say good riddence, and the suicide just reinforces they did the right thing by dfing that person.

And even if they are not DFed, as an elder once told me "Jehovah's witnesses, do not commit suicide, it does not happen.

Once they commit suicide, they are no longer a JW"

The society dusts their shoes off and accepts no responsibility

Primal emotions

a while back dogpatch posted some thoughts about primal emotions and joining/leaving the wt.

at the time, being the pathological intellectual i am, i disagreed with him.

i thought it was all about doctrine and scriptual analysis.

As long as he's content with his position, he won't care what the facts are.

I agree, the jws that have drifted along with no big problems in there lives, truly believe that the society and the elders handle things in the best way. And whenever they hear a story the says otherwise, they simply chalk it up to "I dont know the whole story" and "the elders have it all under control", I know I did.

Its the poor jw that gets drug into a JC, or the battered wife, or beaten and ignored children that sees the real side of things.

I think in most cases, it takes something bad to happen to get most JWs to wake up. They usually dont do it if its all smooth sailing for them.

I didn't talk about goofy doctrine; they know it's goofy. They sometimes would look at me with a puzzled look, but nobody ever said anything back to me. I continue to say just that simple phrase.

I think this is the most effective way of talking to a JW. And it is what i have learned to do also.

I never talk about doctrine, I could really care less about that and JWs have all kinds of canned answers for doctrinal stuff.

I usually say "I left because the society behaves in a dysfunctional way, and it seriously hurts people" and your right, they usually just give the deer in the headlights look. The society has never told them what to reply to something like that and they are speechless.

Does creating low self esteem in the R&F play into the hands of the GB?

officaly they say that they don't want the r&f to have low self esteem, they say that low self esteem is from the devil.. .

but they create a culture that cannot help but give their r&f crippling self esteem, the constant empasis is on looking at the flaws in oneself.

"pummeling" yourself because of your sins, all the publications tell us over and over again that we are "dust" and deserve nothing.. .

Low self esteem is a must to keep the R&F dependant on them.

"do not trust your own understanding" is constantly grilled into the JW brain.

JW are taught that "You cant trust your own thinking process, you can only trust gods channel of comunication",
