i just happened on this place a few days ago, and thought i would stop in to see what it was all about.
it claims to be a jehovah's witness forum, which it is not.. dont want to come here and point fingers, as i am sure there are some good people in here, just seems the bad have followed the good.
i guess in reality thats always the case, but hey, what else would these people do if they couldn't wage their little war on the truth.

i am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.
i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.
and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.
Six of nine,
You seem to be suggesting that by saying that society has become as low as mcveigh by killing him, that i am just trying to win an argument. You say 'i don't even believe it for a second'.
You are wrong....by killing another human for whatever reason, we are as bad as this man. There are many arguments as to why we should pass the death penalty. But the bottom line is we have no right. Please do not think i am condoning what he has done....please do not think that i find his act as abhorant as you do....but we do not and should not sink as low.
Amazing ,
you said that the death penalty for you is not about deterrance or vengeance, but merely justice...
In a court of law, when the judge passes his/her sentence, he/she bases it upon justice...their measure for justice is balanced between deterrance and punitive....or punishment for the act (namely vengeance). Therefore the death penalty in this case is based upon those two things. To further add to this line of argument, years ago (and still in some countries)the death penalty was carried out in public....the body then dismembered (hung, drawn and quatered)....all of this done in public....to act as a deterrance!!.....the death penalty is about deterrance, it is about vengeance and nothing else.
I forget who it was that said that one can tell more about a society, as to how it deals with it's deviants....than anything else.
The death penalty for me tells me more about the society of in this case the USA state....than it does about justice.

Quote,
' None of this gave McVeigh the excuse to commit the murders that he did in the name of his cause... so, he is scheduled to die on Monday... and i cast my support with his execution......'
No, he has no excuse to commit murder, there is never an excuse to commit murder!!!....why should the state be allowed to do that very same thing....who has the right to say that it is okay to now commit murder...
because he killed a fellow human???
Quote,
' I believe that he deserves the death penalty'...you fail to say WHY????
By giving the death penalty as a punishment, are we not then becoming as low as this human being???

most of the stuff posted here is negative, hateful, and blasphemous against god.
even if many of you are right in saying that the jws are wrong on many and important issues, that does not make you right.
so unless you are convinced that there is no biblical god you are facing serious trouble when you die or if the lord comes during your lifetime.
Well, it's a good job that i am convinced there is no biblical god then!!

making mole hills into mountains .
we had a wonderful and most exemplary family in our congregation.
they are hard workers, hospitable, caring, generous, suffer with you through hardship, kind, compassionate, and as loyal to the organization as any family could be.
I personally do feel that the elders over-reacted to a situation. However, i cannot see how this event shaped the rest of the life of this particular person. Surely later on he/she had choices to make, paths to follow....how does this one event ruin their life?
Certainly it was a mole hill made into a mountain, certainly it made that person feel ashamed and created low self esteem. Yet to say that it was this event that turned their whole life upside down, i cannot see.
I think that maybe you are being hard on yourself.

at work i had this discussion with some of my buds, ..... what is the thing about the british, and irish, with drinking warm beer?
or at least room temperature?.
when i've done that, it dont do anything for me.
The thing is that when you americans/ australians whoever.... drink beer at room temperature, you drink it warm....your climate is warm!!!!
Our climate is cold, rainy, damp, or whatever....our beer at room temperature is cold, rainy or damp.........get it!!!
Personally, if i drink at home....my beer is in the fridge(as is most of those i know)....if i drink at the pub....the beer comes out of the barrel (cold, rainy or damp)......either way i like my beer!!!(especially stella artois or grolsch....sometimes possibly caffreys)....
Brits enjoy their beer....however it comes!!!!!

hi guys...i just wanted to share with you all something that happened over the weekend, that i found really weird.. on saturday i went to a cousins wedding.....we are quite a large extended family, not jw's(only my mom is a witness), so it was nice to be with the family on such special occasions.. throughout the evening i sat down with a cousins husband, who i hadn't seen for about two years.
we had a pint and he decided to get out a pack of cigars.
now these cigars were big fat ones (you know the cuban type)...he lit up.
bigboi,
my mother does show respect for both my brother and i.....i will show it back to her, yet i feel that she should accept me for who i am and what i do.
Prisca,
I am not saying smoking is good for you....all i am saying is that from time to time i do smoke, but to do it in front of my mom involves other isssues,

i don't know if this has ever been brought out - i just thought of it:.
the bible tells us that it rained for forty days and forty nights.. it stopped raining and noah & co floated around for a bit.. when they landed, noah sacrificed some of the animals (weren't they in short supply?
) and god promised never to bring a deluge upon then earth again.. to back this up, there was a rainbow in the sky as a sign.. now, what causes a rainbow?
You know they ate the dinosaurs don't you....that's why they became extinct....kept them in food for years.

i know that the answer is yes, but it would help me to hear your sentiments on this.
.
after you decided that the wbts, and thus jw's were not god's chosen earthly organization did you feel like you wanted to leave and forget god altogether?.
The problem with holding on to a concept of god is that you are holding onto someone elses perception of that god.
Whether that be the WTBTS, the bibles, or anyones.
So many people in this world have different perceptions of god.
A problem occurs when you fall into line with one perception, you are ruling out someone else's. Is that the right thing to do???
Should we say to someone else, 'no your wrong...it is i that has the truth'...and even though we have our own perception of reality, it is what we are being told...for instance by accepting the god of the bible aren't we merely falling into line with Western civilisations thinking?
My personal opinion....there are things out there that we do not understand...why worry about that?....i believe in the here and now and plan for tomorrow's here and now...i have one life and i will use it. I am definately a spiritual person....there is more to me than flesh and bones...i will try to fulfill my spritual side, but i will not try to fit into someone's label of being a christian, muslim or buddhist. I do not want to condemn the next mans beliefs, by accepting a god of the bible...because i believe to accept this god i have to fall into line with the statement that only jesus is the one to save you. If i were to make that statement i believe i am no longer open minded to the fact that other spiritual books exist.
