  Hi everyone I am a newbie and I need help

  i have been coming here for some months y i must admit that i am still in.

  but i have serious doubts, i mean, i am 99.9% convinced, the jws are not the true religion, but i still live with my family, and they are jws, and i love them.

  my parents have a long time been jws, and it is very hard for me to tell them the truth.

  Hello and welcome.

  In my opinion you can't change JW individuals thinking. They have been conditioned for many years to shut off when someone criticises the organisation, they label it apostate so are not willing to listen to reason, even more so if you tell them you found your info on the net.

  I feel you need to concentrate on yourself first, then in time they may come around, but put yourself and your own sanity first. There is a long way to go and it can be hard to leave something you have had all or most of your life.

  You will find lots of support here, so keep posting. On here we all have a shared experience and you can bet someone has been through what ever issues you are dealing with at the time.

  You have a long journey ahead. Best of luck (we can say that now).

  Diary of a thinking to return ex-Jw

  i thought long and hard about posting this but the mis-information on this site finally persuaded me, i already accept many may not accept what i say on face value and get their appologist pens ready for making sure no pro-witness propaganda slips through the net on this site but here goes....... i've been on this forum for a few months my first post was about how i was thinking of returning to jw's and at my sisters recommendation to look at this site for both sides of the story before taking that step.. i faded from jw's 10/11 years ago now i left my hubby at the time divorced him to going on to have more relationships and kids, i was definately given the impression after asking on this site and with what i read that if i tried to return i might face df or at least a jc but definately a couple of elders questioning me over what i've been upto these last few years - none of these have happened.

  i talked with an old jw friend (yes i do have then and she never shunned me quite happily accepted an offer of coffee from me and my asking for a chat) i told her i was interested in going back and was very frank about what i done in the last 10 years but not sure how returning was done now, she quite happily said she go ask for me to find out.. result!

  she came back this week and said "all i had to do was goto meetings again" and an offer of a study was there for me if i wanted it to explore the open doubts that i had expressed i now had.. not quite the fire and brimstone welcome this site led me to believe would happen.. i will keep you posted with further updates if i feel the need to put them in future.. .

  My last meeting was around 5 or 6 years ago and that was the Memorial which was the first time for a couple of years. Even now i go through periods where i would like to go back, even though i don't necessarily believe in God. For me, it is more a feeling of comfort. Some years ago my brother (x jw) went to a witness funeral, he came back saying it was like putting on an old pair of slippers. Something he felt comfortable in and something he was used to. At the same time he said it was nice to put those slippers on at times, but now he has a new pair. This sums it up for me, the meetings for me were a place i could get comfort in, surrounded by friends i grew up with, almost an extension of my home. I tell myself when i go through periods of wanting to go back, that its more to do with something thats going on in my life at present and feeling a need to be within my comfort zone than anything else.

  I wonder whether this is the same for you?

  I saw something similar back in January. Both my daughter and myself saw it driving back to mine. The view near to me covers a stretch of about 30 or 40 miles, so there is plenty of skyline to notice anything. We both feel it must have been some test plane or something the MOD were testing out.

  Fascinating to watch, five or six lights suspended in the night sky, moving slowly. The next day the local newspaper, The Express & Star reported many sightings of it, some saw it fixed in a position for about 15 minutes.

  I haven't told many people about it, those that i have just dismiss it as a helicopter or weather balloon. There is no way it was any of these, i put it down to a test craft, but it was definately unidentifiable. No alien spaceship though.

  Good story to tell my grandkids (when i'm grey and old).

  Meetings cut down to twice a week....

  i heard that they are planning to cut meetings down to twice a week and the book study will become part of the school and service meeting...any one else hear about this?.

  Thinking of getting a retired greyhound....

  i have been thinking about getting a dog for some years.

  i have looked at different breeds and have been particularly looking at the husky types, even visiting crufts earlier in the year to talk to breeders there.. however i stumbled upon a site to do with retired greyhounds.

  i love this breed, when i was a child my neighbour used to keep and race them.

  I am going to a Wolverhampton kennel this week, as its local to me.

  Restrangled, i do like dobermanns. I will bear it in mind but i am more inclined to lean towards the greyhound.

  However i stumbled upon a site to do with retired greyhounds. I love this breed, when i was a child my neighbour used to keep and race them. I always remember taking them over the fields by where i lived, with their kid, who was my age and a close mate at school. I have also had a keen interest in the racing side of it, with a race track being local to me.

  I have never considered this breed before, mainly because of what i assumed was their high energy. However looking at some sites it appears that the retired ones, because of their intensive training in the early years are actually quite docile. In view of this i am going to visit some local kennels, linked to the race track, at some point this week.

  I wondered if anyone here has any experience of them themselves???

  this topic is about the end of a relationship.

  i was reading in an old self help book on surviving divorce.

  he put the survivors into the dumpee/dumper category,and then there were the mutuals that i know nothing about.

  I have been both the dumpee and the dumper in different relationships.

  What you say just about sums it up. The dumper does have time to deal with it, whereas to the dumpee it may come as a shock and it certainly is hard to deal with rejection.

  In my experience they are both painful. I was the dumper with regards to my ex wife, about 12 years ago and i still have to deal with her anger now.
