I have added one or two things to it in the past but it just ends up getting altered by a JW.

what do people here think of the wiki page on jw's should it be updated with any knowledge that is freely available here?
also surely the links page at the bottom should have a link to either this site or another site that refutes the watchtower society?

how do you handle them?
i mean, sometimes they write things that are really hurtful!.
do you just ignore them altogether?
If someone responds to one of your posts in a way you don't like why let it bother you? We are all grown ups here, while being abusive is childish that is more a reflection on them rather than you. If the post was abusive then just let it go over your head. However it can be easy to interpret someone who is just speaking their mind as being offensive, if this is the case then deal with it.
In all honesty i don't know to which thread your refering, but whatever has happened why let it get to you?

BTTT

for those of you that don't know... dad thought i was an apostate, ww3 was started, elders were involved, bla, bla bla.
i didn't speak to him for 1 1/2 months because i was hurt in the way in which he treated me.. now, i'm ready to deal with what happened and actually talk to him about it... this is about what i want to get across:.
i understand you took the actions you did because you were afraid.
Are you going to put this in the form of a letter? I think perhaps you should, you get all of your points over in a respectful way. Just be careful not to put in writing something that can be used in a JC.
Paul
okay, go ahead and make my day: ask me anything!.

A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper
picked.
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
How many pickled peppers did Peter Piper
pick? Paul
i know we must have alot ofpeople on here huge football fans like myself.
born and raised in boston, i am a huge sports fan, and of course patriots fan.
so anyone here go to another meeting, makeup some bs excuse, illness, flat out miss the meeting or anything else to watch game if your meeting happened to go from the 9am to the 3pm in january ?.
I don't know about the superbowl. But i remember when England were playing Argentina in the world cup on a Tuesday night many years back. It was a classic match and there's always tension between the two teams, because of the history between our countries. I never went to the meeting and apparently as soon as the prayer was finished many rushed out to catch the second half. Funny thing is though that all the action happened in the first half.

ok, i was going to ask whether christians have higher morals, but i thought that other religions have the same kind of morals too.. when i look at those who sincerely follow their religion, i think that they do have a higher morality than those who do not follow some sort of scriptural guidelines.. this is not to say that the religious have a monopoly on morality, or to say that some religious people are not hypocritical in doing what they say, rather than what they do.
but as a whole it seems to me that someone with a religious upbringing has higher standards than someone without.. now some would say that higher standards or lower standards are defined by society, so therefore by whose definition do they have higher morals.
this would be a fair assumption.

But by the basic standards, of decency, treating others with respect and honesty i would say that the religious seem to fair better.
From my experience, seeing the way society is going, in particular in this country, i truly feel that if people had a scriptural basis to their lives society would benefit.

i mean , really freaked out !
you just have to tell your boss you can't go to the job out of town !
so , i did go on the out of town job, went to the memorial, however that was not enough.
Mine too was a psychobitchfromhell. Truth is i'd started to miss the meetings just to get a bit of peace. If she was going to a meeting it was great to have the place to myself, bottle of wine and a video.
There were many occasions when she'd be screaming, slamming doors all because i would not want to go the meeting. It was more of an embarassment to her that she had to give an excuse as to why i wasn't there. Her favourite scream was, " I married a Jehovah's Wintess, now look at you! ". All of these fits would be with a "You bastard! You fucking bastard!", if only the witnesses knew her foul mouth.
It would turn physical at times too, eventually when i told her i was leaving she tried to headbutt a large pane of glass in the front window. How she didn't smash it i don't know, it was only a single pane and it was bending as she butted it.
Anyhow all that was 11 years ago this month and i still get a horrible feeling come over when i think about it, i'm feeling it now. But, life moves on. She still has her issues, we still have our moments but she has mellowed. She's also left herself over the last 2 or 3 years and somehow that's been put down as my fault.
I have three wonderful kids that have come from this. My two lads i took snorkelling tonight and spent a summers evening with them by a local lake with friends. I now look at moments like this and think well it wasn't all bad.

do any of you have any funny experiences while you were part of the jw machine?
back around 1986 i was the ministerial servant in charge of running the sound board in the kingdom hall for our congregation.
we were the last ones to meet in the hall on weekdays (friday) and the first ones to meet on sunday.
That is funny. I used to do the sound and would get embarassed on the occasions i got the song wrong. I can only imagine how i would have felt had that happened though.
