Sharia Law To Be Adopted Into UK Legal System For First Time
by Bangalore insharia law to be adopted into uk legal system for first time.. .

The article is misleading. The Law Society publishing guidelines for solicitors to draft wills for those Muslim clients who wish to be Sharia compliant doesn't mean that Sharia law is to be adopted in the UK.

Russian Parliament Approves Military Action in the Crimea
by ABibleStudent inwhy did russian president vladimir putin ask the russian parliament to approve using military forces to keep the peace in the crimea, instead of asking the un?
why did the russian parliment pass a law approving military force instead of asking for the un to send peace keeping forces to the crimea (http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/01/world/europe/ukraine-politics/index.html?hpt=hp_t1)?.
is russia spiralling into a totalitarian dictatorship like germany in the 1930's and the soviet union from 1920's - 1990's with information control and coercive tactics?

Russia hasn't sought UN support as they have the support of the President of Ukraine currently in Moscow, who they argue is the legitimate President and the governor (or equivelent) of Crimea, hence they can claim it is not a breach of territorial integrity or sovereignty as per Art 2(7) of the UN Charter.
The UN would be deadlocked on the matter, with the US and Russia in opposing camps. More and more since the unilateral invasion of Iraq by the US without UN support and threats of action against Iran and Syria by the West, it is beginning to see to be legitimate to act unilaterally. The US opened a big can of worms by committing to action outside of UN support, now that other nations see similar actions as legitimate it appears like hypocrisy for the West or the US in particular to be critical when other nations wish to do the same.
Essentially Russia are looking after her own interests in the region. I guess it makes a change to US interventionalism.

Why Is Alcoholism Deeply Embeded In JW Culture?
by RottenRiley inwe get plenty of company men passing through our circuit, often filled with misinformation and lugging around a suitcase of guilt, they bring more guilt to the weak while praising the braggart pioneers and slapping the "righteous over much" elders.
why are the wrong people getting praise in this distorted community?
i know for a fact many of the elders i served with have issues with alcoholism, when "brother guilt" brought his emotional hurricane through our circuit, i had the chance to eat and help pay for his "seven shots of tequila", both him and his wife were not immune to over-indulgences.

I agree design. Elders in general, are not equipped to deal with alcoholism and outside support groups such as AA are not encouraged. However whether this means alcoholism is embedded in JW culture I find doubtful.

Alcoholism is embedded in all cultures and has no boundaries. It is not exclusive to JW's, but shouldn't be a surprise that it affects a portion of them. Whether alcoholism affects a higher proportion of JW's than the rest of the population is the real question and one that I think is doubtful.

The Cult of N. Korea--Frontline's Secret State of North Korea compare to WTBTS--discussion
by FlyingHighNow indid any of you see this program on pbs?
did you see how dangerously similar n. korea is to the wtbts?
did you notice one huge difference, that north koreans are not brainwashed like most still active jws are?

For real? A thread like this can detract from legitimate criticisms against the WTBTS ... Please educate yourself on North Korea and it's severe human rights record.

New ExJW closed group forming on Facebook
by Watchtower-Free inthis is not my group.

uniting all ex jehovah's witnesses whether previously studying, inactive, disfellowshipped, disassociated, or thinking of joining the jws.

The membership of closed groups can still be seen to outsiders, it's the posts that can't. For members not to be seen it needs to be 'secret'. It appears that despite your years of experience with computers, it is YOU that doesn't get it.

Ever consider joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
by rawe inhas anyone here left jehovah's witnesses to join the churuch of jesus christ of latter-day saints?
what was your motivation for doing so and how has it worked out?.
if you haven't joined the lds or considered it, as an ex-jw, what is your general view of the lds faith?.

A friend of mine left the Mormons, some of the similarities were astounding, we often compared our upbringing. He now has gone back to them, seems happy enough, though I'm guessing his pull to go back was much the same as some ex jws.
